What will it take for Dolphin fans to be happy and content with this year and to consider the start of the rebuild a success?

Is the apparent success of the draft and wins against San Diego and New England enough, or if not, how much more is required to meet that goal?
Would it require 4 or 5 wins or maybe 6 or 7 wins to make most fans happy or does it require much more?

I am just curious after reading about some of the fans frustratration with the Houston loss and some recent posts of some fans thinking maybe we should have taken Matt Ryan instead of Jake Long. :feedback:

I will try and answer that. I will be happy if I see this team be allowed to be as aggressive against all future opponents as they were against NewEngland and the first half of the Chargers game. I think our guys gave full effort against the Texans, to me, it was the generals who lost that battle. Time outs left, red flags thrown at the wrong time, not going on 4th and a hair cut, and worst of all BAD ST play!!!!!:pity:

I think being competitive in each game is a good start. The only game we have not been competitive in was AZ. Win and losses, IMO, will be irrelevent. Yeah I want wins but last week, although a little depressing, did not leave me feeling as hopeless as losses last year did. I would like to see improvement in our Special Teams and improvements in some of the coaching decisions (Ginn on KR). As long as we improve and are competitive and continue playing with some attitude, I think the wins will come. Overall I just want to feel like we have improved from the begining of the season to the end.

Like the coach says if our guys play in it until the end (these are mine not his =>) that's enough for me. It shows a lot of different aspects to a true team unit. When we close games off instead of being in til the end that's when we'll be making our run.

It shows we have a future. And right now that is what we need.

Overall, I am very satisfied with the direction tony is taking this team. Ok, we lost to the 0-4 texans (who are not an 0-4 team) but we were in it till the very end. Last years team probably would have gotten blown out this year by them... Same thing with the Jets week 1. Like all say.. 2 plays away from 4-1

And yeah, our WR's and secondary is very suspect, but rome wasnt built in a day. We shored up more than half the team from last year, all in 1 year, DL, LB (upgraded partially), QB, TE, OL, and that made us competitive... Next year we will(should) shore up the rest, WR's, DB's, NT, maybe another LB... We should only get better and more competitive...

    Some more points:

-Our PPG are up about 6 points from last year.
-teams have to respect our offense
-We have a very capable QB (when was the last time we could say that)
-We have a great OL that will only get better.
-Our team went from one of the oldest, to one of the youngest, and got enormously competitive in 1 year... How can anyone not be happy with that?!

Im happy already after last season mess. How can you not be??
We've been in every game minus the Cardinals and easliy can be 4-1. Sure i was sad/mad after last week but come on You can see this team is going in the right direction and should be playoff bound in 2yrs with the right F/A moves/draft.

this is key, I think. The old to young and competitive part. It shows that if you grab the right guys that are young you can still be competitive.

I'm already happy. I'll always be happy watching the Dolphins. Maybe not so much during and after some of the rough games, but I'll always be happy to be a Miami Dolphins fan.

As far as what do I hope for out of this season? Be competetive in every game and play football that's fun to watch. Continue to do impressive things offensively and improve on defense. 3 - 7 more wins would be great. Playoffs would be incredibly awesome but we need to keep expectations in check.

Me personally, I was happy when Bill Parcells was hired because I felt pretty sure he would give us a direction instead of the rudderless ship we have been on for several years. I truly believe he has placed the right coach and the right GM in place to make this team a success.
I guess I was a little worried that they would have a hard time measuring up after all the negativity going around after the Houston loss. Its refreshing to see posts like these that reaffirms that there is a lot of positives there and so far most fans feel the same as I do.

The issue now is that they know they can win and we know they can win. So when it comes down to close games like houston and the jets yeah we're gonna be pissed off. It doesn't mean we don't think the team is headed in the wrong direction or that they're a crappy team by any means, though

Well, at the begining of the season i believe most dolphins fans would have been pleased if we came out and finished with 5 wins. Now, that we have seen what this team is capable of, i believe that it will require 7 wins for the majority of fans(including myself) to be very happy. I honestly feel this is very attainable. I will be satisfied however if we finish with 6 wins although i think we possibly could win 10 if we can get some things to bounce our way. Its still a bit early to tell. This weekend should help alot as far as where we stand for the rest of the year.

Many may indeed disagree, but I think without question, that represents the mass majority, and even many who remain staunchly in denial, including perhaps myself.
On one hand, I saw steady growth against Houston, an ability to rally back and score decisively, late in the fourth quarter, on the other, the actual loss was overwhelmingly brutal.

In the past, I've managed to keep the emotional aspects, surprisingly in check, but after dredging the bottom last year, to witnessing our remarkable early returns, the leaguewide impression that made alone, was enough to jimmy with the locked expectations of even the most chronic nonbelievers.

I'm pleased now but what would REALLY make me happy was if we could win a few more games. If we can get to 8-8 or even 6-10 I would think this a very successful season.
