Saw the movie/documentary 'Cocaine Cowboys' by Billy Corben (NOT the 1979 movie)...

This was a really cool watch to see how the drug trade made Miami in the 70's and 80's...funny that living here though....I never noticed how bad it was...just didn't affect me personally I guess.... and since I wasn't actively looking for it either...I guess that explains it.

In Bruges. Quirky and funny, any movie where a midget gets karate chopped is awesome IMO.

Bout time you saw that movie. The scene where the midget is discussing his views on race is all-time classic

Hitman - eh nothing special, probably what you expect it to be 2.5/5

    Two interesting flicks last night:

"The Call of Cthulhu" (2005) -- A modern movie based on the story by H.P. Lovecraft which was filmed and presented as if it were a 1920s silent film. Only 47 minutes, it was fascinating. A must for Lovecraft fans.

"The Golden Compass" -- I think it should have been called "What the ****?!?"

Chain Reaction - Probably the worst movie I've seen Morgan Freeman in (that I can recall). It was an ok movie, but I am glad I did not pay a lot for it.

Quarantine. Loved the concept, hated the way they executed it. Take 28 Days Later, confine it to a building in L.A., film it like the Blair Witch, and pace it so poorly that the fear you should feel throughout the flick is limited to a few cheap shocks. :pity:

That's because the studio stupidly left half the movie on the cutting room floor.

Are you saying director's cut on blu-ray/dvd?

BTW Tropic Thunder director's cut/unrated is gonna be great (IMO).

I've seen two "conspiracy" style movies over the course of the last few weeks.

Eagle Eye - I've been a fan of Shia LeBouf since watching him in Transformers, so I was excited to see what he could do carrying an entire film. Well, I was disappointed, to say the least. The plot was implausible, and the was pretty much terrible. The action scenes were all shot by a guy that appeared to be on speed, as the shaky camera really took away from what was going on. 2 out of 5 stars.

Body of Lies - My wife and I got the chance to see this one from the VIP balcony seats in KC. Much better story and plot wise, and the acting was top notch. Solid political thriller, though a bit more straightforward than others I've seen. Good film. 4 out of 5 stars.

I'm out of town this weekend, so I'll probably do a double feature tomorrow, I'm thinking Max Payne and W.

Shoot 'Em Up - decent flick, plot was horrible, but the gratuitous violence and gun/carrot play made up for it somewhat.

    NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm about as easy on a movie as you can be, I take 'em for what they're worth. That movie was pure garbage. I rarely leave a movie feeling as pissed off as I did with that one. Watch a goldfish for 105 minutes, much more quality entertainment there.

Don't even get me started on that flick. My wife was forbidden to pick the weekend movie for a month after she conned me into that one. :pity: This week is Saw week! :woot: 1 & 2 Thursday, 3 & 4 Friday , Saw V on Saturday. I don't know if my delicate nature can handle 8 hours of torture porn over a three day span, but I can't wait to find out!
