I've always like Daunte. I hope he comes back and gets what he wants out of the league in his last few yrs or so. Good guy, imo.
So much for... "i dont want to sit around on sundays hoping someone gets hurt and a job opens up for me" or whatever it was he said... you knew he'd be back, once guys went down and a job opened up. He shouldnt have gone and said that and retired, he should have just kept quiet, and faded away for a few months and waited for the calls to start coming in... he had to know they would at some point.
The guy is so full of himself and if he had an agent he would be a back-up in this league today, but his ego would not allow that.
Agreed. I didnt think that 2 years ago, but this leapord has repeatedly shown its true spots. He should learn to just STFU and fade away.........
He should do the league a favor and guillotine his agent. Though I wonder if the reason he hasn't signed yet is because the agent keeps fumbling the pen...
I loved Culpepper when he was at UCF but he made some boneheaded moves in the NFL. It was like a dream come true for me when the Dolphins signed him but he screwed up royally acting as his own agent.
I wasn't thrilled when we got him. Then he stunk, which I figured would happen. Then Saban ran off because he couldn't live with the Culpepper mistake. Then he acted like a big baby when the new regime came in. Then he punked us in Silver and Black.
Same here. I never liked Culpepper as a Viking and certainly wasn't thrilled we went with him over Brees. That's twice I wanted Brees and we didn't get him.
You mean when the new regime constantly told him he'll get a chance to compete against Trent Green if they acquire him, only for them to turn around and say "No, you won't competing, sorry"? Quite frankly, I'd call him stupid if he DIDN'T raise a stink.
I call him stupid for even thinking he would compete. You don't bring a veteran to compete with another veteran unless the new one has a real upside, let's face it neither one of those guys was going to light it up and Pepper should have known his time was up. He already had a bad rep from his breakup with Minny, his attitude when he and Miami were on the outs (and frankly after his performance why would he even dream of coming back) just cemented his prima donna image.
I'm sorry, but his head coach and GM said he would. Maybe the stupid ones should be them for not thinking about what kind of situation that could have put themselves into. Just saying.
I wish him the best he's never been the same after the injuries. I still think he is better than a few starters out there though. Not sure why some of the teams out there didn't bring him in. Not really understanding all the hate on the guy all he did was get hurt and fail to come back at 100% it happens.
It was funny, last night on ESPN scrollbar, it says Cullpepper will not meet with the Chiefs because he has a better opportunity with another team. This morning I read this. Chiefs cool on signing Culpepper. The Kansas City Chiefs are not as eager to sign former Pro Bowl quarterback Daunte Culpepper as many people thought. Although adding the veteran quarterback to the roster remains a possibility some time down the road, coach Herm Edwards said Monday that Culpepper would not even come in for an interview. When your jobless, and want a job, you look at all possible spots. As is own agent, if he has two teams interested, why not go to both interviews and play off each other? If two people want your client, as a good agent, you use that as leverage and or a fall back option.
The Lions are the better option???????? A source has confirmed that free agent quarterback Daunte Culpepper is visiting the Lions today and will go through a workout, but the team is making no comment. ... What makes the Culpepper situation more interesting is that Culpepper was scheduled to visit the Kansas City Chiefs today, presumably to sign a contract, but he canceled that visit, saying that he had a better offer from another club. Hum the Lions could be an interesting team for Culpepper with Calvin Johnson having the potential to be his Randy Moss in a weak division. Something to think about definitely.
He will get killed behind that offensive line and lack of running game. The Chiefs are a better team and he would have had a running game if Larry Johnson can stop his pacman role.
