On his radio show today Jim Mandich said that he had a brief conversation with Parcells and within a minute Parcells asked him what he thought about Henne. Mandich is a Michigan alumni and follows the team religiously. Could Henne fall to the 4th round and be picked by us?

Doubt he falls that low, hes got some really good physical tools. If he did Im sure we would pick him up, never hurts to stockpile QBs. Frankly, I think after offseason workouts and Combine, his stock will rise pretty high.

Interesting. Could be a move to divert Parcells true intentions though. Remember Parcells is in the business of making other franchises look dumb now, so he may be trying to play a game with the media from this point out.

Seems to me like a good conversation starter in a social situation. "Hey, how 'bout that Henne and Long Mad Dog?"

Sounds a bit like disinformation to me at least, no way Parcells asks Mandich that without knowing Mandich would put it out there.

That said, Henne is a Parcel's type QB big guy, big arm, pocket passer..

Henne is only 6-2, so according to some he can't be a Parcells guy.

Providing that Parcells does actually have some interest in drafting Chad Henne he would be one of our 2nd rd picks. Henne isn't going to make it out of the 2nd rd much less still be on the boards for rd 4.

Why do you say that? Why not Chad Henne? One thing I like about Henne is that he's been a starter since his freshman year. That says an awful lot about his ability to handle pressure, don't you think? I know Flacco and Ainge are both taller guys, but on the other hand Henne has proven himself over time.

Parcells's not gonna give anything away...he's gonna have his poker face...he'll ask about a lot of guys from now till draft day but we're only gonna draft 7 or 8 guys....he wants to move down and he's gonna start talking someone up.

    Ozzy rules!!

    In the draft war room
    Henne is 6'2" 225-230 so it's not like he's a scrawny guy

I heard his comment and Parcells seemed to be interested more in Jake Long than Chad Henne .Of course the Maddog gave Bill glowing reports about both those players particularly Long.

He told him that Jake could anchor the Dolphin OL for 15 years.

That my early bet for our draft pick because our scouts of the previous administation also were very enthusiastic about Long and Ireland is reportedly also high on him.

Henne could also be a consideration if he drops to the third round or later which is doubtful given his recent performance.

I'd be on board with drafting Jake Long. Carey plays well enough that Long wouldn't have to start at LT right off, if he needed time to acclimate to the NFL.

You're right Crunch. There was some of the report I missed. It was Parcells asking about Long. I don't think Long is Gallery and I don't think he'll be a bust at all. Jake Long could really help our team alot. If he excels at LT then move Carey back to RT. If he's not ready for LT then play him at RT. If we trade down a few spots and can land him he'll make our o-line much better right away. Then either Fanaca, or a guy like him and things are really looking better. Henne was impressive the other night. I can see his game transfering to the pros very easily.

I promoted Chad last year prior to the draft, wishing he was available last year.

Still believe that he will be another solid Michigan QB in the NFL.

The timing is bad for him to end up in a PHINS uniform, but regardless - i would stil be happy to see it. If the new FO believes in Beck, then they won't invest more than a day 2 pick on a QB.

Just like Saban liked SEC players, Parcells loves players from the northeast so we can project some northeast players taken in the draft

Until FA passes its just so hard to determine our draft needs (or priorities).

Henne late in day 1 or early in day 2 (which he may not make it that far) would be a nice pick up up imo. Our second 2nd rounder from SD will be low.....so maybe thats an option? Henne has a nice ball and a strong arm, watching him against the gators last weekend was fun to watch.....cant have ENOUGH QB's IMO

Good post..., we need a stable of competitors can't just say this guy was chosen in the second rd so he is the projected starter of the future...

Let's not forget that Ireland is in the mix now too - and they've stated that he and Bill work very well together in the talent department. This will be a very interesting draft to watch, especially with our first day picks.

For me EMO, the exciting thing is Free Agency. Who will we bring in and convince to interview, how much $$$ will be dangle? Who can we sign that jump starts our improvement with Veteran additions prior to rookie draft additions.

This will set the stage for the draft.

No doubt. If they can get Flozell Adams that might lessen the interest in drafting an OL with the first pick although personally I think we need both .

Imagine Adams at LT ,Long at RT which probably would be his most natural position and Carey switched over to G.....Satele playing center.

OL fixed in one fell swoop

Of course we could decide to draft a OL later too and go a long way to fix the OL especially if Toledo can stay healthy to take one of the G spots.

Any significant FA signing would indeed improve certain areas in one fell swoop. OL, CB, DT especially. Each would set the stage for where we focus come the draft.

P.S. Dont forget about Mormino at Guard.

Henne's a good Qb. If he drops to the fourth and maybe even the third than a lot of NFL teams are slow. I truly feel he could be a good NFL QB. Id take him in the late 2nd/ early 3rd.

I dont know if Mormino would meet the size requirements.Cowboy OL are usually huge. But since we have him on the roster he would be in the mix.

I'm guessing that the Tuna is casually asking everyone he runs into, with ties to specific schools, about their programs top players.

henne is a typical michigan QB. Big arm, strong , pocket passer. He wont be there in the 4th round, 3 at the most. I wouldnt be suprised to see him go in the mid-end of the 2nd though.
