So. Next year. Realistic situation..........how would you feel about this team...and how competitive do you think it would be? i know theres a little bit of wishful thinking, but it could happen...try not to criticize too much :)

    Offense:

QB: Grossman/Beck compete for starting job, Bramlet/whoever
RB: Ronnie Brown, Lorenzo Booker, Ricky Williams
    FB: Mauia
WR: Chad Johnson (acquired for a 3rd round pick), Ted Ginn Jr, Derek Hagan, Camarillo, Hakim/draftee
OL: Carey, Shannon Tevaga UCLA (our 2nd pick in second round), Satele, P.J. Alexander FA(Falcons) ,Max Starks FA(steelers)
TE:Fred Davis USC(first pick in the second round), Peele

    Defense:

    LB: Porter, Zach Thomas, Crowder
DE:Matt Roth, Jason Taylor, Greyson Gunheim Washington(4th rounder), Quentin Moses
DT:Glenn Dorsey LSU(#1 pick overall), Rod White, Holliday, FA pickup?
DBs: Asante Samuel FA from NE, Will Allen, Travis Daniels, Jason Allen, Yeremiah Bell, Renaldo Hill, Draftee
    kicker: Feely
    punter:Fields

Sooooo what do you think? i know getting Chad, Asante, and Starks is pretty unlikely, but it should be possible since we are pretty much cleaning house! i think this is a very competitive team that has veteran leadership as well as a lot of young talent. i think 8-10 wins is realistic by next year! if we had this team...thoughts please

Ok, some real problems with this one

How do you get both Dorsey and Derek Anderson on the team? You are going to have to give up a 1 and a 3 for the Brown's QB

Cincy wants a lot more than a #3 for #85

Lots of churn for the OL. We don't need that much turnover. We can't spend a 2nd on another lineman, especially a guard. Why not develop the guys we have with one FA?

Need to spend a #2 on Fred Davis to have a shot a getting him and I'd much rather have him than any OL in round 2.

Rey is staying at USC but we need at least 2 LB's from this draft so you're on target there.

I think we need to spend a lot more picks on defense to rebuild. I look for a second round corner rather that over-paying for Samuel

Not entirely true, he's burning his bridges. Not to mention, Moss going for a 4th last year is really gonna hurt the value on WRs.

As far as the offseason is concerned, I'd rather we make sure we get Asante more than anything else. I feel a CB would instantly make our D better. I think we should hold off on Chad, because we aren't certain about our QB right now, so we'd just be getting a big mouth with no one to throw it to him. And thats just trouble. Everything i'd agree with.

please no Grossman.....why Hakim?, Chad for a 3rd? if they're stupid enough to make that trade then cool.If we're gonna get a lineman it'd probably be Fanaca or Adams.
On defence we're running the 3-4 so we need a big NT and 2 big DE's...we also need 4 big LB's....Samuels is very unlikely and the draft is pretty deep with corners this year...you can get 1 in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

    Ozzy rules!!

Way to many FAs, your just not gonna get that many starters out of FA with the cap these days in a single offseason.
    And Grossman? Why? He sucks!
A draftee starting at safety from the 5th round or lower? Yeah doubt it.
And Johnson for a third seems to be a pipe dream for many on here. Sure Moss went for a fourth, and Chambers went for a second and Branch a first. Moss was an aberration and that trade the result of stupidity and the fact that Al Davis actually died about 3 years ago, but everyone just takes his silence to their questions to mean "yes"

If he hasnt learned it by now he never will, he just sucks, it happens sometimes. Tim Couch, David Carr, Akili Smith, Joey Harrington .... Rex Grossman.
