Ok, clearly im the one to check with for beers, considering im canadian and all. At least our beers have some alcohol in them unlike that water you guys drink over there...

For every day beer drinking... I drink Labatt's Blue. I know its sold some places in the US, but its AWFUL over there, compared to the Canadian version of Labatt's Blue.

If you're looking for a light beer... Id go with Labatt's Blue Light....

For some tastier beer drinking... Alexander Keith's, or Moosehead. No doubt.

For a premium *** kicker of a beer... Labatt's Ice. Its like 7%...

For a Red... I prefer Alexander Keiths Red... or Rickards Red.

has anyone tried bud's american ale? along the same lines, i have seen some of the new A-B "microbrew" advertisements by way of michelob...pale ale and the like, but i havent seen them in any stores. id like to hear some feedback on those

the other day i tried blue moon's winter brew, called Full Moon. very tasty beer. good carbonation and color. the label says there is some dark belgian sugar in there. you can taste it, but its not overpowering. solid, solid beer

oh and not to forget the bottle of dogfish head 90 minute IPA i savored last night. mmmmm

  4. Ah, but not anymore -- I'm drinking one right now on my day off to watch election coverage... it's tall and skinny... but it's 12 oz...

  5. Very nice, Mindwarp -- had one of those this summer; quite good!!

    That's it?!

Try having a 11/12%.. something Horizon. I can't remember the name.

Or you could brew your own and make it like 20%

I can't stand Heineken, and it's easily the most popular beer when I go out amongst the crowd.

I keep it Light...usually Coors Light or Bud Light.

yeah but when you make it yourself its so much more gratifying. we actually have the book of recipe's by the dogfishead guy, and he has the 90 minute ipa recipe in there so we might make that soon

you know you want to put the recipe here for other brewers .... :D

extract or AG? AG I guess...

If it's the recipe they use at the brewery, it would be AG. I've read a few that called for extracts, but doubt it would be as good. Only problem with making a 90min is the time. You have like 2oz of hops adding continuously over an hour and a half. Close to the end, you're pouring in dust.

There is a guy who made a machine close to what they use at the DFH brewery, but that doesn't seem logical if you're only going to make it once.

    Favorite beer

    Paulaner Hefe-Weizen

It is the greatest and best beer on Earth. It's perfectly balanced - not too bitter, not too sweet - creamy German goodness. If you haven't tried it, go get you some next time you make a beer run.

i'm loving all this yuengling love.

    it is great beer.

also i've been big on these recently. 750ml 9% ABV $7 a bottle, and I can keep the bottles and re use them for my own brewing.. and i only need one to get drunk. it's a tripel (you can see that on the label) and is very strong:

I would say yuengling straight up. however, to add some originality to the thread, I would say that I also like Franziskaner Hef

has a malty rice taste. not great, but a good alternative if you are in the mood for something light

I'll give the Dogfish 120 min IPA a shot. I do like a good IPA, but I have to be in the right mood.

Yuengling is good. One of my fraternity brothers was from the town where it's brewed (or the town right next door, I forget which). He always brought it up and we loved it. Then it became popular up here (and many other places) and we felt like we were ahead of the curve.

I picked up a six pack of Landshark last night, just to see what it was like. The answer: forgettable. It's not appreciably different than Bud Light, in my estimation and no, that's not a compliment. However, I expected worse. I saw "Island Style Lager" and had visions of lemon and lime flavors throughout, which did not appeal to me in the least. So, while it was a mediocre beer, I expected worse.

Anyway, as for personal favorites, it's awfully hard for me to turn down a Sam Adams. I love their Cherry Wheat, Blackberry Witbier, and Winter Lager. The Christmas 12 pack is one of the highlights of the year. The Cranberry Lambic is awful, of course, but we even find a good use for that; when we play poker, sometimes someone in a head-to-head hand will say "I'll raise you the Cranberry Lambic", meaning that whoever loses the hand has to chug the Lambic, which my friend Nick once described as tasting like vomit steeped in urine. Another time, we passed the Lambic off to an unsuspecting friend, who drank it like a good soldier and said "not to be rude, but can I have a beer that doesn't taste like crap now?"

I love Canadian beer. Whenever we'd go to strip clubs in Niagara Falls, we'd order Labatt Maximum Ice, or Molson (I think it was Molson) XXX. The stuff's like moonshine. Expensive as hell, but we'd be blitzed after 7 or 8 beers instead of 10 or 12, so good times were had by all.

Yuengling is VERY popular in Pennslyvania & New Jersey/New York. New Hampshire I believe sells it as well as Connecticut. I am bringing some up to my buddy in Boston who loves it when I go up to visit in July.
