I certainly hope Houck returns. He's been essential to building our line and should be allowed to continue his work.
I mean, honestly . . . I also liked Willis . . . and I remember when their were rumors about us trading Zach to Denver for a 2nd round pick . . . right away I said, I would do the trade because it opens the door for us to select Patrick Willis at MLB. But that was just a rumor, and with the JP signing . . . u couldn't afford to bench Crowder on this team, we had our LB core in place. Really, I didn't want to sign JP, because of Willis, I just thought he would be a perfect fit on this team . . . but after we did, we just COULDN"T go DEFENSE. I don't care what anybody says . . . we had the #4 defense last year, and many felt that JP was the missing piece . . . a pass rushing LB. I liked the Ginn pick tho, I actually called him over Quinn tho I didn't think Miami would choose him if Quinn was available. I mean the guy solves our returner and deep threat WR problem for the next 10+ years . . . and the kid IMO was better than I thought he would be this year . . . he showed some nice hands, and his route running improved throughout the year and he has that world class speed . . . and he is ONLY gonna get better. He should have had 3 returns for TD's this year, and that is with what may be the worst special teams unit in the league. Hingsight is 20/20, and Willis would look beautiful on this team right now, but what can u do.
Hock was one of the coaches I wished would have stayed. One of our brighter spots was the O-line. The O-line had finally began to gell.
I don't really think he was taking a shot at anyone....on the other hand he said he understood what Parcells is doing. Ozzy rules!!
"I thought (Cameron) was pretty well-prepared. Our meetings were no different than some of the Super Bowl teams I've been on," he said. "The only difference was the type of players we had. The other places I've been, we just had better players." that sounds like a shot at Mueller, who had final say on personel.
this seems to be the opposite of a shot at Mueller (coming from the sentinal blogs) “What was difficult about this year, was early in the year they cut a lot of players, let them go, the high price guys so they got the money down under the cap. They let some older veterans go. That’s one reason we weren’t successful this year. It opened it up for younger players. They got some good draft choices.’’ Would you re-sign Rex Hadnot? “All of that is up to Bill.’’ http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports_football_dolphins/2008/01/hud-goes-out-wi.html
Mueller essentially only had this past year as the true GM. Before that, it was Saban (and they didn't get along), and now it's Ireland. Whatever Houck meant, I'm sure it was less about an individual and more about the collective inability for us to land offensive lineman with talent in the draft or free agency throughout his tenure. Basically, we largely ignored the position for a few years and figured Houck would fix it. And he did.
