BTW Ginn was a shoe string tackle from taking one of his catches to the house. If that would have happened he'd probably have 100+ yards in todays game and a TD. The defender just got lucky.

Good point forgot about that. I think they need to run the slant more with Ginn.

Ginn is not #1 Wr material yet because he does not get open consistently enough to be a prime target, Greg C does not have Ginn's talent, however he will take the hits and run the routes that allow his Qb to hit him in stride and around the first down marker.

Teddy may be our #1, but that diamond needs more polishing.

I think Ginn can be a number one WR in this league. You mention Steve Smith and a lot of people like to compare Ginn to him. I believe Smith returned kicks for most of his first year, similar to Ginn and Smith didn't really do much at all. I think the difference between Smith and Ginn is more polished route-running and possesses more strength. I think Smith is incredibly strong for a guy his size. Smith is 5'9", 185 but plays much bigger and stronger. He can jump with the best of them and gets after the ball. I think Ginn has shown glimpses of getting after the ball but he needs to do it more consistently to become a top WR in this league. I also think that Ginn needs to get more leg strength. It seems like he is easily tripped up. Moreover, I think that Ginn has much more expectations than Steve Smith did because of the spot he was drafted in. Smith was a 3rd rounder while Ginn was a first. Much more expectations and weight on your shoulders in Ginn's situation. However, as you mention, its still very early in Ginn's career and it will take time for him to develop.

He's a second year receiver in a new system who was accepted as raw when he was coming out of college. He's doing fine. Inconsistency is normal in this kind of development. I see a lot of Galloway in Ginn as he grows into the NFL.

That being said, he had three bad plays that the FO will point out. The interception - Penny doesn't have the arm to go past Paymah and Ginn was either supposed to, or supposed to know to, move inside on the pass. The second was the dropped pass, and the third was the inability to keep his feet inbounds on a nice sideline pass from Penny. Gotta drag your feet as an NFL receiver. I noticed that Penny only looked at him once after that interception. I think Penny takes interceptions very personally :)

umm, first of all, I think Ginn does well off the line. He doesn't get manhandled very much.

And if he DID have trouble getting off the line, then putting him in motion would help him get a clean break.

So I don't know what you're talking about.

We have to remember though, Ginn even mentioned this in his interview last week, that there is no "me first" player calling for the ball. You don't see it in Ginn, Camarillo, Fasano, Brown, Williams... Anyone. Ginn said that last week was his day and next week could be Greg's day, Ronnie's day, anyone's day.

They picked on Paymah. Don't tell me that Bly covered Camarillo. There's a reason that Paymah has 13 tackles and Camarillo has 11 receptions... It's because Bly covered Ginn and we picked on the cornerback that was replacing a top tier cornerback in the league in Champ Bailey.

    We succeeded, that's it.

Looked like they were having a little chat about that right after. This really is why Ginn isn't getting as many looks, he's been messing up on a few routes. They really need to throw him a few quick slants early in the game. They threw one today in the 2nd qtr I think for 5 yds. That quick hit would do two things, it opens up the line of communication between Penny and Ginn, and it gets the safety and the CB reacting to the pass a little quicker so you can set them up for the double move to get Ginn the ball in space 15-20 yds down the seam. Or off motion to the inside with London or Martin to clear out and block. Worked to perfection last game and it was there today, just didn't get utilized. I'm looking forward to more from these two as they get more comfy w/ each other over the next few games.

    what's this?

How dare you state facts for your argument?...That's unacceptable when it comes to Ginn.

Don't you know by now that if Ginn doesn't average 15 catches for 200 yards a game then he is invisible?

Nice post, DevilFin. I would add that Paymah was giving Camarillo about a 5-yard cushion, for whatever reason....can't blame Pennington for taking a sure thing, especially on a day where his throws were shaky at times.

Honestly, its ridiculous to think that Pennington would not look Ginns way if he is open. Pennington wants to win. Watching TV you can't see what kind of coverage Ginn had on him.

    Winner.

I don't see why people say "Ginn isn't getting separation" unless they are keyed in on him AT the game. You can't tell that stuff on TV with the camera angles.

Watching Sparano's presser he said Ginn was facing heavy double coverage during most of the game.

Paymah had a better game than we expected. For what THAT'S worth.

Bly is an Oh My... This guy has his head on the wall to Rocky Mtn hunters. For what we are paying this guy and we gave up to get him, it's not worth it.

He did well the first year we brought him in, but he has done nothing to impress anyone since then.

Look for him to be on the trading block this upcoming offseason.

We were covering Ginn with double coverage.

Chad had a good day spreading around especially to that... what's his name..... Greg somebody. :wink2:

You guys played so well. I can't say enough especially about Chad's poise and the DEFENSE.

Bronco and GIK thanks for setting the record straight here.

This thread is FULL of misinformation.

As BroncoMania stated, Ginn was double covered all day. If you listen to both the Broncos and Dolphins press conferences, this was talked about heavily.

The Broncos had 8-9 in the box all night long. They had the safety rolled to Ginn, had Bly covering Ginn, thus keeping him double covered, or as Paymah said "their WR/deep threat". The off CB, Karl Paymah, played 8-10 yards off the ball and manned up Greg Camarillo basically the whole game.

It was Karl Paymah getting beat by Camarillo, but he was really doing his job. He just didn't do it as well as Champ Bailey. As mentioned in the press conference, Shanahan and Paymah mention that it's usually Champ in that role and he just does such a fine job shutting that down, or jumping those routes.

Ginn didn't get looks because he was doubled all game long. On the deep throw that Pennington overthrew he was bracketed. On Chad's pick, you could see he was clearly trying to take advantage of Ginn 1-on-1, he just underthrew it or thought he was going to the inside.

It wasn't a bad game at all. We just took what the defense was giving us.

Go ask Paymah what Greg's name is....:shifty:
I will say this, I do enjoy the Bronco fans a heck of a lot more than the Chiefs. You guys/gals are a lot nicer to be around. I've been to around 25 games in Arrowhead and I hate the Chiefs fans, plus I'm from Kansas.

Thank You for this post. And actually sticking up for our defense? WOW. No they didn't play that badly for what we had to work with.

Karl did take over Champ's spot. If Bailey was on Camarillo, things may have gone a LOT differently. Champ is our main man in the secondary and I think you all know that.

For the most part, Karl did play well, but he is no Bailey. Too many short routes that wouldn't have happened if Champ was in there. They would have avoided GC with Champ even in the neighborhood.

We also shut down that Wildcat scenario as final stats should show that formation actually lost yardage. It's when you lined up on normal formations when you bit us.

Once again. Thank you Phin fan rdhstlr23 for recognizing this.

EDIT: Didn't want to come across too strongly on your boards.

    Camarillo :)

Hes developed very well this year and has really almost become Chads goto guy when hes in a pinch. Very much in the mold of Welker, hopefully this time he doesnt get traded to the Pats and start badmouting us like Welker did the douche.
And no, I dont blame our FO for that move, we had no choice and it did actually benefit us in the long run :)

exactly. Some people are just never happy. Ted Ginn was targeted by the Broncos defense after his breakout game last week and therefore it gave Greg the one on one coverage against the weaker corner, that's why he got most of the balls.

I'm a huge Ginn supporter and he's coming along nicely IMO. Just be patient people.

Yeah, the game would be different if Champ Bailey was playing. Definitely top three cornerback in the league, IMO. Asomungha takes number one, but I'd say Bailey is a strong second, Cortland Finnegan is really impressing me too. Anyways, you get my point. Champ Bailey being out had a huge effect on us, we took advantage of that, plain and simple.

I don't know anything about Paymah, but I do know filling in the shoes of Champ Bailey is a damn near impossible task.

No problem, Bronco. My best friend is a big Broncos fan, posts on your forums. Of course we watched the game together, had plenty of nice bets (which I won) and enjoyed ourselves. It pains him that even though he's been lucky enough to win 2 Super Bowls (1 in which they steam-rolled Miami to get there), the Broncos still lose basically every time they play Miami.

He wasn't happy with karl Paymah's play, and as a Bronco fan, neither would I. However, that was the plan--to give him 5-10 yard outs/hitches--and take everything else out. I believe it worked because we wound up only scoring one TD and 16 points from offense--10 from defense really.

I see a lot of people try and compare Ted Ginn to Steve Smith and I think they are two completely different players. Ted Ginn isn't elusive like Steve Smith. He never has been elusive. He's had straightline speed--faster than Smith. I don't believe Ginn is half the athlete Smith is, in terms of going up and getting the ball, making people miss, etc. However, I think Ginn is faster guy.

Whether Ginn gets stronger or not, and he needs to continue to do, he won't be a Steve Smith type player. Other than returning kicks and being fast, the similarities end there between the two players and how they attack a defense.

And just to give Pennington some props... On that deep ball he threw into double-coverage, he overthrew it and had some juice on that one! Didn't see any noodle-arm there!
