He used the same moves JT uses to get around the edge and I thought he looked better rushing the passer then playing tight end, has the size the play end or the JACK position in the NFL so who knows what the future holds for him.
I don't think Parcells and Ireland are gonna stick to that chart that so many teams use. If they can trade down and acquire even just one more pick they'll probably do it unless they are completely sold on Dorsey, Long, Long, or McFadden. I don't think anybody is trading up to take Ryan or Gholston #1 overall. Ryan just isn't that guy, and why trade up for Gholston when you could probably sit tight and get Long. Or vice versa. You're absolutely right. I just looked him up. Burnett was totally 240 lbs. And he's still on their roster. So forget what I said about Bruce Davis. I'm sure Parcells and Ireland are checking him out. He would be a great 3rd round pick.
Interesting! I didn't know they occasionally lined him up at DE. Love stuff like that. Davis seemed to be rated much higher toward the beginning of the season.
Yeah, that's what I meant when I said I liked his versatility. He can play both TE and DE. But I think they list him as a TE officially. And he lined up at DE a few times. Not just that first series. Usually in long yardage situations. I'm not laughing, either. He absolutely looked like JT heading upfield. He's the exact same height and weight as JT. Imagine if we drafted Bruce Davis, Kellen Davis, and kept JT. We wouldn't be able to tell anybody apart on the field.
I like your thinking finole. Laurenaitis would be a bold choice, and I kinda like it too. I watch Green Bay sometimes and AJ Hawk is nasty for them, would love to have someone like that stuffing the run for us. And Red Bryant is a good choice for second round as well, big and good player. Add in a CB in the second as well (a pretty solid one will drop there) and you have a great young D core. Failing that I think either of the Longs would be a good choice. Seeing how much Joe Thomas helped that entire offense in cleveland will make a LT more attractive this draft, and Chris Long is just a talented beast, and come on, his dad is howie long! I also like your thinking of the Brain Trust not taking full value to move down. I always wondered why teams were so rigid with this stupid scale. If you can drop down a few spots and still get a player you really want and really need, why not pick up ANYTHING to go along with it. So its not a killer package, its still more than you had before, and you end up with a player you wanted all along. Now if your desperate for one person only, then yeah, you look for the knockout, but in our position I can easily see us taking minimal value for a trade down, especially as I dont see to many teams looking to trade up. That said, I expect a good amount of movement after our first, but really, I dont think we will be able to move that one.
This is my draft if I’m in charge. Picks two and three are round two. I’d take Mario Manningham in round three if he was there, but I doubt it. I like the 6-4 receiver who I believe will be there. Rounds after that are a real crap-shoot, so I’ll take a couple of giants and a sleeper at the end. #1 Mike Jenkins CB South Florida 6-0 200 #2 Chris Williams OT Vanderbilt 6-6 320 #3 Shawn Crable OLB Michigan 6-5 245 #4 Paul Hubbard WR Wisconsin 6-4 213 #5 Will Johnson DT Michigan 6-5 291 #6 King Dunlap OT Auburn 6-8 312 #7 Anthony Morelli QB Penn State 6-4 232
