I was having an debate with a good friend who is a big Jets fan. He says CP is a HOFer. I say no way. I can't logically put him up there with Marino, Kelly, Montana, Young, Farve, Elway and ect... Really, other than being a really smart player, what other accomplishments has he done? IMO nothing. What do you think, yes or no, is he a HOFer.
Well he has the highest all time qb rating of any qb in history as of right now as a careeer stat. I dont know if thats enough to put him into canton but I think if he gets himself a ring on his finger that might get him there.
I love him, but he just doesn't yet have the yards, touchdowns, record(s) to warrant HOF consideration. He's 32 years old, so I doubt he'll get there -- what he IS is one of the best game managers ever, but that won't get him into the HOF; and frankly, it shouldn't. The HOF is reserved for dynamic, game-changing players over an entire career. Having said that, we're damned lucky to have him -- I'm a huge Pennington (Hermie from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer -- anyone other than me notice that resemblance?) fan...
He's only been starting since 2002. His work so far would not lead many to think he's worthy of the being a HOF .........yet. I like him wayyyyyyy more then most on this site and think he is/was better then 1/2 the starting QB's in the NFL, but being better than 1/2 the other starting QB's for your career doesn't make one a HOFer. Hopefully he'll win a Super Bowl or two, then he'll have a real chance. As far as his accomplishments he took the Jets to the playoffs 3 out of six years.
Not within a thousand miles, good though he is. Remember, basically he's had two full seasons in his career -- 2002 and 2006.
Err...nope.. If Dave Kreig or Wade Wilson are not HoFer's neither is Chad Pennington. I love him being here though, and I do think he is a pro bowler (potentially), but Marino, Elway, Tarkington...Pennington? Come on..
He'll go down as a very good quarterback in league history, just as drew bledsoe will. As much as i like him he's not a hall of famer in my opinion, or even borderline really. Someone who would be borderline is kurt warner.
Funny post, but no way....... Now he does lead in accuracy, for whatever that means, but who knows what he may do in the future. If Bob Griese made it, even though Earl Morral gave them the perfect season, so I'd say anything is possible. But Chad, if you read this, prove us all wrong and do it.... d-1
I don't think he's close to the Hall... even if he gets himself a ring. At that point he'd have a championship, and a good passer rating, and completion percentage. Thats not enough to get into the hall. Nothing against Pennington here, but just look at the accomplishments of those QB's in the hall... he's done nowhere near enough at this point.
NOOOO Chad is not a HOF'er....I think there are only around 20 QB's in the Hall of Fame. Lots of really good QB's never got a sniff at the Hall. Chad would have to roll off three straight SB wins and then he is in!!!!
