Thats right Miami has opened as a 13 point favorite against Oakland. Now when was the last time Miami has been favored by nearly two touchdowns. I'm sure this will change as the week goes on but this caught me by surprise. http://www.vegasinsider.com/nfl/odds/las-vegas/?s=739
haha John, I don't think that was the point, as im sure you know. Being favored to win is a nice, actually a very nice feeling. One just has to keep it in perspective. I live in Arizona, but I just hope that Miami really fills that stadium. If I were close, I would be there without a voice I imagine. This is a fun team to root for right now.
I know it wasn't bro. I just don't want our players looking at that and taking any team for granted in the NFL.
That's what worries me I hope the team doesn't get overconfident and underestimate anybody. The team has gotten so much better but they aren't good enough to overcome themselves and the opponents and fall into a classic trap game.
9.5 actually at the site I bet on. Have just made an easy 100 bucks by going SEA +9.5 and I'll be all over OAK +13 next week. Easy money, thank you Fins
I hate to be negative guys.... But im going to the game this weekend. Usually when i go, we lose. I pray that changes this week. Who else is going?
I remember that we were favored by 14 against Houston for a season opener a few years back, I think we all remember what happened that day. "See ya after practice"
...Someone let the air out of shaun's tires Sunday morning. Kick his cat, get your cop friend to pull him over. Anything to prevent him from going.
This game does have the classic makings of a trap game. 1. The game comes after a win; 2. The game comes before we play New England at home; 3. The opponent has a crappy record; and 4. Middle game of a three game home stand However, instead of doing hokey Wannestedt stuff like haning lobster traps in lockers, I am confident that Sparano will actually coach the team properly. Its nice when your coach is competent and not a joker.
Not surprising to me. THe Raiders are a complete disaster. Line is right on the money IMO. Whether we play to their level or not is the diff. maker.
I had the same worries. But barely beating a very bad seattle team, SHOULD have ended any overconfidence on the team (if any). In fact I would go so far as to say that this "ugly" win as a humbling reminder that , while we're surprising some people with our success. We're still a work in progress. JMHO.
Oakland has got like 5 first downs in two weeks, lets hope were not the victims of playing soft despite their recent woes. Our team is playing good, but I don't think were consistent in all areas enough to dominate, and the past game vs teh hawks proved it. We were up 14 and should have ran away with it, but our 9 minute TD drive once again came at the end of the game after several punts in a row. I don't care if we crush the raiders as long as we get that W, no matter how it happens. But i do believe this will be a close game. We not at the stage yet to dominate anyone.
Being that Seattle nearly beat them and they know it I doubt they play soft against Oakland. Also Seattle's head coach is going to the hall of fame, I can't even tell you who's coaching the Raiders these days.
I am glad that we didn't blow out Seattle. That we only won by 2 is a great thing. I have faith in this coaching staff to keep this team focused and hungry. Lets just hope that the Special teams can correct some of their problems.
My sport's page has us as 11 1/2 point favorites. Hopefully we stay focused. It looked like Andrew Walter was the QB ysterday instead of JaMarcus Russell. I watched Walter play a few games in college with ASU....he has a good arm but is very slow. Hopefully Porter will gt 3-4 sacks by himself.
We seem to be able to beat goods teams and lose to bad ones. Well, Oakland fits into that 2nd category, I'm not going to take them lightly and I hope our team doesn't either.
Walter was hurt yesterday, Tuisassopo had to come in and play. Their offensive line may be the worst in the league Porter should have a field day. The offense is terrible and I don't think McFadden will play this week.
I didn't take the Seahawks and the points this week because the value of those plays doesn't make up for ruining the value of watching the game and cheering for a blowout. However, it isn't so much the opening line that is important but the line movement in response to public betting. For instance, Miami opened around -9 early in the week, and received around 75%-80% of the public's bets, yet the line moved to -8 to encourage even MORE Miami action. There is a common myth that Vegas doesn't care or have an opinion which is the right side in a bet, and only cares about 50/50 action to take the juice. If that was the case in every scenario, then the line would have been moved in the other direction to -10. This doesn't happen all of the time, but almost every week you can find a game where Vegas has a huge chunk of the public on the wrong side of a game. The reality is they know what the true line is for a game. You only see that in cases where a) both teams have a good public perception or b) both teams have a bad public perception. In the case of where the public REALLY loves a team or REALLY hates a team, that's where you get the artificial lines because they can get away with it. Oakland is one of those teams. They've become the joke of the league and I'd be scared to take anyone to cover Vegas ' line against them at this point.
Why do people think they'd get overconfident? The Patriots (which I'm not saying the Dolphins are) were favored in every game last year and won. Other teams that are continually good (Steelers, Colts, Giants) win when favored. Just win the game, favored or not.
The Dolphins are perfect when I'm in attendance, however... Any feel like getting me tickets and airfare from Colorado?
This team shouldn't be a 13 point favorite over anyone. They may well win by that much or more, but they're too inconsistent for anyone to wager on that. I'm sure it will shrink substantially before game time.
Im not so keen on this high number. I feel like it should be around 7 but we'll see. Oakland beat the jets, a team we lost to. So its realistic they could beat us but i hope we come through.
Nice to see, sure. But im not going to pay any attention to that. This is the NFL, any team can win on any given sunday (except the lions it seems). Afterall, we were favored to beat seattle by what? 9? and we barely won by 2.
