check this out..... Is Jerry Jones prepared to fire Wade Phillips after a 13-win regular season in order to keep Jason Garrett? That's the decision that Jones may well face, sooner rather than later as teams, including the Falcons and Ravens, began lining up Friday to interview the Cowboys' outstanding offensive coordinator. Who's more important to the Cowboys and their future? don't forget that in Jerry's mind, Garrett is his baby, his discovery, if you will. Garrett's the one Jerry hired first, not Wade. And while we scoffed that Jerry might actually be thinking of making the inexperienced Garrett the Cowboys' next head coach at the time, it was a serious consideration for Jones. http://www.star-telegram.com/332/story/391761.html
So is your thread title suggesting we look at Phillips as HC here? You know what? He's NOT a bad coach. His first 2 years in Buffalo he went 10-6 and 11-5. In his 3rd year, with Rob Johnson at QB he went 8-8. Not to mention his success in Dallas this past year. We could do worse.
This title is confusing.. I see nothing that suggests son of Bum will be here.. where do the thread and it's title meet.. I don't get it.. somebody 'splain it to me...
Im not 100% sure Wade is the man for the JOB.. Wade is a decent coach, but If Dallas goes deep in the playoffs I think they need to keep him another year to keep the team together.. If they do not Im not sure they will make the playoff's next year Thats just my opinion
I can't see Wade coming here and I'm pretty sure Parcells would'nt want him here either.I can't speak for all Dolphin fans, but I don't think they want him here either.
Sorry, Son of Bum is a decent coach at best. In Buffalo during his tenure, he was pretty loaded with talent, yet didnt take his team to the promise land...and I think ALL his success this year is in the wake of the pieces that Tuna put in place...his other stops have been much less than stellar... Just my opinion...
thanks bro.. I thought that was what you meant.. I do not see it happening however. I don't think son of Bum is all that.. you or I could prolly equal his record with the talent he has in D.. we won't have that amount of talent for a couple of years imo..
I don't like Wade Phillips as a coach.I don't think much of their success is because of him. IMO he is basically on autopilot due to a talented staff of assistants and players. I honestly think the Cowboys would be just as good if not better if Phillips was gone and Sparano,Garret, etc took over.
I'm not a fan of his as a HC. He has had some success but I think most of his teams have won inspite of him.
Actually to be fair to Phillips, Buffalo, at that point was no longer loaded with talent. Flutie as starting QB was 36 Thurman Thomas was 32 Andre Reed was 34 Christie and Mohr were both tin their 30s Bruce Smith was 35 Ted Washington was 30 Guys like Kelly, Talley and Bennett were long gone. Incidently, he took a team that went 6-10 the year before with Levy to a 10-6 record I'm not indicating that I think he's "The Answer" for us. But IMO he was given the hook in Buffalo prematurely. He's a good coach.
Ya I dont see Wade getting fired either. I find it less likely that he would be brought in here even if by some chance he did get fired.
IM not so sure we could not get Garrett,, He was here for some time and Loves Miami. He knows and likes wayne, so if wayne talked to him and open the purse he could be brought here. He can not be told no if we wanted to talk to him...
Actually he could not committ to a Qb. Antowain Smith was a decent back at the time. Eric Moulds set the record for recieving yds in the playoffs vs the Dolphins under his tenure. Marcellus Wiley was a pretty good DE. Some people speculate the John Butler through an entire draft for the Bills in 2000 because he was leaving. It gets overshadowed because of the "Music City Miracle," though Wade rested the midget in the final regular season game in 99 and gave Johnson the start. After Flutie took them to an 10-5 record he benched him for the game vs the Titans. Flutie was loved by the media but behind closed doors it was always mentioned that he was a fake. Though Johnson was always a bum.
Actually, I would say though those guys were getting old, there was still a TON of talent there.. not to mention some of the younger studs that have been outlined.... He was also a FLOP in Denver as HC, and I still say he is completly riding on the laurels of Parnsips right now in Dallas (You should hear what the Dallas media has to say- not flattering at all) I think he is a Solid DC, but he has less HC traits than Cam had. He is silent on the sidelines, and doesnt even look the players in the eyes-which is very interesting considering who is dad is.
