Texas' Buck Burnette Learns Why Racist Obama Facebook Updates Are Dumb Quote from this guys facebook : I can't believe a guy would be this dumb and attend University. Whether or not you supported President-Elect Obama or Sen. John McCain, you have to condem this azzclown.
I've heard a lot of racist remarks since he's been elected. There's one that I got in a text message from a friend that I won't say what it is. It doesn't contain foul language but I think its wrong. Getting kind of tired of it to be honest. Even if you voted for McCain, he's not in the White House and Obama is. Support him despite the differences. It wont change. Also, when will people realize that everything is checked, including Myspace, Facebook, Youtube, etc. Its flat-out stupidity IMO.
The only thing I'll say in this guys defense... screw it I cant really defend him. I was gonna say it was ok if it was a joke, but even as a joke it wasnt funny. Especially when the threat of violence is mentioned. Also, when you are a member of a collegiate sports program, you represent your team and school at all times. A part of me doesnt like the fact that his Facebook page even matters in this instance. That is to say, sticks and stones. But this was just an outright dumb thing to do. He should have considered his standing with the University. I will say, if this was Colt McCoy, hed still be on the team. No one can convince me otherwise.
Good to see U of T take the High-Road on this one. I have NO idea what drives this level of ignorance..absolutely ZERO idea. I really thought that as a Society we were farther along than this, but perhaps I need to re-think that.
Wow, I just can't believe today's kids are still talking like that. I know there is still racism in some older generations, but I figured kids growing up today would not still be racist. Guess I am just Naive!? Sad
Racism isn't about age its about stupity and you'll have that in all ages and for a long time to come. A sad fact but true.
It kind of depends on how you're brought up I think. Fortunately the younger generation in their teens and early twenties seem to be primarily a post-racist group, but there are still a few people raised in a different perspective. My grandfathers and their fathers were in the Klan back in the 20's and 30's, and I've heard jokes about hanging such and such from a tree since I was five years old. Fortunately my parents didn't think like that and taught me otherwise. You either get educated and learn that it's all racist, ignorant behavior, or you don't. I guess judging from that Texas Longhorns player, you can be smart and go to college, yet you can still be really dumb. Ignorance is a breeding ground for prejudice.
Racist, Yup...Inteded as a joke, yup...does he really want to shoot up the man, highly unlikely. Just a kid who was young and dumb posting such a thing on a public site with his name attached to it.
