Lincecum deserved it but I cant for the life of me understand how in the world Johan finished behind Webb. I like Webb but Johan has better peripherals, more k's and had 6 leads blown for him after the 7th inning meaning he should have been close or equal in wins.

Also on the subject of SF's pitching.....The pitching is certainly stellar but they will probably have to move Cain or Sanchez to acquire some quality bats.

You expect the sports writers to look at other stats outside overrated wins and losses? Don't forget these are the same group that voted for Volquez for rookie of the year when he wasn't even a rookie.

And yes I agree Santana should have been 2nd in the voting, and you could even make the arguement he deserved to win it too. I have no problem with either him or Lincecum winning. And I'm also beyond thrilled CC Sabathia didn't win it.

Glad the writers got it right... Timay all the way. Its so much fun to watch the guy pitch... too bad he doesnt get the run support.

I think he deserved it. It's one thing to be an 18 game winner on a winning team, it's another to win 18 with a horrible team. :wink2:

    WHAT!!!!

This is a Travesty I tell you......

    Kidding of course.

Yeah, that kid is something else. Talk about filthy nasty stuff, and he really understands the entire task of pitching. Also a great great kid, glad to see they got this one right :hi5:

    As for Johan over Webb?

The argument that Johan has more strikeouts isnt valid, Webby isnt a Strikeout type of guy. From the start to finish of the season, Webb was better. His ERA was rock-bottom, and he pitched more complete games as well as more quality starts.
He had a serious Dead-Arm situation for the better part of a month. If he hadnt gone through that, he easily couldve won 25 games.

Bottomline, If I was starting a team from the Dust, I would be happy with any of the three mentioned Pitchers as my Ace.

Why isnt the argument that Johan gets more K's valid? Its something voters look at.
Johan led the league in ERA. Had a better whip. And if his pen hadnt blown 6 games for him he would have equaled webb in wins.

Im just wondering how webb was possibly better? The only thing I can see he did better was that he didnt give up a grand slam to a visiting AL pitcher :tantrum:

That said I have a lot of love for Webb. He was my ace in the fantasy baseball league that I won :hi5:

Webb had the 10th best ERA in the NL while Santanas ERA was almost a full run lower. Add to the fact Santana was in a tougher divison and that although I don't have the numbers in front of me but I'm willing to bet Johan had better numbers across the board than Webb minus wins. Don't get me wrong Webb had a good season and deserved to get Cy votes I just don't think he had a better year than Johan, who I feel was extremely underrated this year.

Webb is getting a ton of credit for having a great 1st half of the season. They would be better off letting a bunch of us bloggers and posters vote, at-least we could be objective and look at the whole season of work.

And I WON't argue that. I believe he won his first 9 games...but then started to peter off.
