muck buddy i cant wait for this fight.....i am so pumped i havent even looked at the under-card.....is it any good? the wife and i are getting a bottle of vodka and ordering it off our newly aquired directv......im real excited for it, hope it doesnt disapoint.... prediction wise.....i think brock is being pushed too hard, too fast.....expecially considering he lost (a tough loss) to mir.....but i think brock will handle the older randy..... but i dont put ANYTHING past the veteran.....no doubt he can get a submission in and end it un-dramatically.....but i feel brock over powers and wins it....
For me, its win/win....Randy has his curtain call (although if Mir didnt stop Brock it would have been better for Randy to exit by beating him first,etc).....and for Brock he could be the next big thing with the W.
IMO people are putting way too much stock in Brock's loss to Mir. He had Mir on the ground and was pummeling him when he got caught, plain and simple, he man handled Mir. Randy has not fought in the octagon for awhile. He also seems to have a problem with strikers, and while I wouldn't define Brock as a striker, if he throws bombs I'm sure it hurts like hell. Coutore is a wrestler that likes to shoot and dirty box, I dont want to count him out. He is my favorite fighter in MMA, I would hate to see him go out like this. We'll see.
dude if you think that you dont know mma......griddles has a "CHANCE" against anyone....cause anyone can land a shot against the chin.... brock is a ncaa national champ wrestler, a monster, and quick as hell....and young.....he has plenty of a chance dude....randy is awesome....but has been out of the octagon for awhile....brock has MORE than a "chance"
Some of you guys are really dillusional about Lesnar's chances. How exactly is Couture going to beat him? Out-wrestle one of the best wrestlers in college history? Overwhelm a 260-300lb beast who does nothing but wo? Only thing Randy has over Brock is experience, thats it.
The same way Mir beat him. Couture has underrated Jiu Jitsu. Lesnar can easily make a mistake and Couture can end it.
i got randy in this one. here's the card for what its worth: MAIN CARD (TELEVISED) * Champ Randy Couture vs. Brock Lesnar (for UFC heavyweight title) * Kenny Florian vs. Joe Stevenson * Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Josh Hendricks * Demian Maia vs. Nate Quarry * Dustin Hazelett vs. Tamdan McCrory PRELIMINARY CARD (UN-TELEVISED) * Jorge Gurgel vs. Aaron Riley * Jeremy Stephens vs. Rafael dos Anjos * Mark Bocek vs. Alvin Robinson * Matt Brown vs. Ryan Thomas
I've watched some UFC before, and generally enjoy it, but I've never purchased a PPV before. I'm really tempted to for this fight, I think it will be fun to watch. I'd say Lesnar just because he can overpower Couture.
Justin.tv - Its...NarlyTime! - Live Streaming Video Bro watch it live. Sound is a little off but fantastic quality.
when you put it all together...randy is a better fighter. what he brings to a fight, you can't account for on paper.
he's bigger than he's been lately. i'd say he's back on it. dont be surprised if it hits the mma headlines early next week.
kinda bogus that they took randy's belt, then went and made this a title fight. i thought mir vs. nog was for the title.
I think if Lesnar straddles anyone its game over. Also laughing at Mir right now. He got lucky as **** against Lesnar.
I wouldnt say that. Randy did manage to escape Brock a few times. And what Mir did wasn't luck. Lesnar made a mistake and Mir took advantage. Thats not lucky. I do think that if Lesnar keeps learning and works on his cardio then hes going to continue to be a big challenge to any other heavyweight. I saw his training routine and he did bust his ***. But he was still looking kind of winded at times in the fight which could be from cutting weight or maybe even overtraining.
Lesnar had that fight but he made such a stupid mistake. Mir Baited him and Lesnar like a mouse trying to get the cheese in a mouse trap was caught. If they fought again Lesnar would win no doubt.
the best part about the "monster wrestler" lesnar is......his 2 wins he won on strikes mostly.....whata monster if he continues getting better
I ended up buying the PPV ... I'm not a UFC "regular" by any means, but I really enjoyed it. We will probably buy a few more of these as time goes along. Here's my thoughts, match-by-match. Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Couture - Man, Brock is a physical freak of nature. I thought Couture did a good job trying to extend the fight and wind Lesnar, but Brock was simply too much of a blunt physical force. Lesnar did this in his fourth fight, and is obviously raw, but if he can start to put it together - and it looked liked he started to last night - he will be a force for a long time. Great fight. Kenny Florian vs. Joe Stevenson - I admit I was rooting for Joe in this match, but this thing ended pretty fast. Good showing by Florian, who ended the match in less than a minute. Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Josh Hendricks - Gonzaga looked quick, big and fast. He pretty much dominated Hendricks. Another match that was over quickly. Is Gonzaga going to be up for a title soon? He looked that good. Damian Maia vs. Nate Quarry - I was surprised at how quickly Maia was able to win this fight. One thing about UFC - if you get yourself in a submission hold, you're tapping. I Dustin Hazelett vs. Tamdan McCrory - I really enjoyed this match for the most part. Hazelett's beard was amazing. Mrs. Odin and I both though we were going to see a broken arm when Hazelett got the arm bar for the win. Jeremy Stephens vs. Rafael Dos Anjos - Wow. What an uppercut by Stephens to win this fight. Really has to be seen to be believed - it was brutal. Matt Brown vs. Ryan Thomas - I actually expected Thomas to make a better showing of this, but Matt Brown pretty much dominated the fight from start to finish. I stopped watching after the Lesnar/Couture fight, so I know I missed at least one fight off the undercard, but I didn't really care, as I thought the Lesnar/Couture fight lived up to the hype and delivered. It was a solid PPV, really from top to bottom, though I was disappointed with how quickly some of the matches were ended. All in all, I was thoroughly engaged and entertained throughout, so I'll likely buy UFC programming again sometime in the future.
exactly, you make an interim championship fight. thats actually, good for the sport. but you can't rescind that.
brocks going to be a great fighter to watch. he has an exciting game plan, and dukes it out without any sloppiness(ala kimbo). i was very impressed. he looks good in there, and the nature of his game is fun. he is totally beatable though, and will continue his share of winning and losing, but he'll bring fun every time...and he's not a side-show. that was my biggest concern, that he was a side-show like kimbo or butterbean, but he really isn't.
They didnt rescind it. The winner of Mir, Nog will face Brock and the winner will be the real champ. This was more of a semi final sort of. And I personally am glad Brock got this shot. I think Dana was aware that he prob. got screwed too in the Mir Fight.
