Not the first time. "D'oh" is in the lexicon for most people at this point as well. Other "words" have been given to the world from that show too. I love that show.
In the latest episode of the Simpsons, Homer had a great line about getting his mortgage refinanced because a dancing cowboy online told him too. He was referring to this: I hope a lot of people got as much of a kick out of that line as I did.
Happens to the best of shows though. Still amazed by the fact that its still going. IMO its still better then half of the newer ones out there.
Thats just it. Yes, it isn't as good as its heyday, but I would still put it up against most of the garbage that passes for comedy these days. Family Guy, Two and a Half Men, that stupid show about nerds on Mondays, and a few others. The Simpsons at 50% capacity is still better than most shows at 100%. Also, I thought this past weeks show was one of the better ones in awhile. It was rooted in some sort of normalcy. Often times the writers rely on something too far out of the norm which kills the show for me. This past weeks was a nice rounded 30 minute story.
This is our biggest fundamental disagreement. I think Family Guy is by far the funniest show on TV. Ive always liked the Simpsons, but FG is just flat out funnier IMO. The esoteric references that no one else gets are what puts it over the top for me.
Yeah its better than most TV shows, especially reality shows or as I like to call them "Dumbass TV" ....The Samphin Comedy hour?
The Simpsons > Any Other Cartoon On TV. Family Guy drags its stuff on way too long IMO. Sometimes it can be funny but other times I just view it as "we had to fill the time slot". Kinda like when singers go "yeah!" in songs. It's like they couldn't just let the spot be empty they had to stick their voice in there.
Ahhh come on, that's the best part! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNkp4QF3we8]YouTube - Family Guy - Lois Mom Mum Mommy[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4eYSpIz2FjU]YouTube - Family Guy - Who Wants Chowder?[/ame]
