Huge blow to Hawaii imo, but I cant really blame him if the athletic dept wasnt really giving the help he deserves. Guy has brought a ton of money into that school, reinvest some of it back in the team and continue to reep the benefits.

Not sure why he'd want to go to SMU, I'd think the success he's had at Hawaii would earn a more high profile job?

I know SMU is after him but I suspect he could now interview for a more high profile job on the mainland .It will be a big blow to Hawaii .

He was Atlanta's head coach in addition to being a coach for the Oilers. Not sure if he was the OC there or QB coach though.

Sorry he wont be available. When you retire in Hawaii, they throw you in volcanoes.

he's an older coach whose also been in the NFL, sometimes a big time job is not attractive to some people.

Yep, its definite. Jones is headed to SMU. I can see why June Jones would go to SMU. The state of Texas has such a large population that whoever isn't picked up by Texas or Texas A&M or any of the other Texas schools has a chance to play at SMU.
The program that will give him a run for the money as far as recruits go will be Texas Tech. Mike Leach recruits the same type of football players that Jones will be looking for. I can see that both coaches will be in a dogfight for receivers that can play in the run and shoot offenses both teams will be using.

SMU was once a very good football program.

The Pony express will now be called the flying ponies I guess.

Sounds like a cool nickname for the Mustangs team. Looks like the Mustangs are going to sprout wings and become the Pegasus team. All in all, I wish them good luck and hopefully they can win games again.

I wonder if he will bring the ridiculous spread offense with him? or does he finally commit to running the ball more then two times a game
