With only 2 sacks this year Justin Smith is gonna be a bargain for an NFL defense he's a guy who has and can get 10 sacks a year and with JT on the other side he would be a beast! Assuming we play a 4-3 or even a hybrid look at this..

    J.Smith V.Holliday/Traylor Dorsey Taylor

with a healthy LB core our front seven would be an elite unit! FA will play a role in our direction in the draft, obviously a trade down would be great but not for inadequate value, ending up with Glen Dorsey is a nice concelation prize.

Justin Smith is not going to be a bargain, believe me..... it does not matter how many sacks he had.

if you want real bargains look no further than 2 indy FAs; Matt Giordano and Ben Utecht

He cant expect to break the bank too much...2 sacks is just that, I expect a medium range deal nothin like Kerney got though, ofcourse you never know.

Im skeptical about any guy on the Colts due to the fact that we dont have a Peyton Manning or a dominant OL like INDY has.

May be a little small to play End in the 3-4, he is listed at 6'4 and 275 pounds. He is 28 and will be turning 29 in September, I don't see him coming to Miami.

Im curious as to exactly what kind of defense we will run Parcells is not the coach but Im sure he will run some form of a hybrid D...by the way how could you not love the Rex Ryan talks, that guy wouldbe an ideal coordinator IMO

I doubt Smith will be a sleeper. Teams know what he can do. Bryant Johnson though could be a sleeper starting WR. I'm also looking at LB Danny Clark as a sleeper LB.

remember, Utecht was probably the best senior TE in his draft class; ahead of Ben Watson and Ben Troupe (Winslow was a Jr), but went undrafted because of a serious back injury. He is a very good blocker (playing in the run heavy Minnesota system as well as being a blocking TE early on in his NFL career), and has very soft hands. Plus, he is 6'6 so he's a great red zone threat.

As for Giordano. Very, very fast and hits pretty hard as well. He is however, stuck behind arguably the best safety in the NFL in Bob Sanders as well as another good safety in Antoine Bethea.

No idea, Flozell was there a long time before Tuna got there, and I don't know how he feels about Parcells. He does not have a ring yet so going to a rebuilding team might not be in the cards for him. But who knows. Maybe he's one of those vets that is willing to help bring on the young guys (lord knows we need some of them)

Berrian will likely want a lot of money and we need a big WR anyways provided Ginn continues to play okay. DJ Hackett's a guy I would take note of but he's been really in and out of IR. When healthy he can be a 1200+ WR with double digit TD's but he hasn't been able to stay healthy.

we're not even a 3-4 yet. But I think he has some experience. Maybe from college, but wasn't Dick LeBeau the HC at Cincy early in Smith's career?

After seeing Hackett today, if he stays healthy, I would hope the Dolphins get some interest in him (unless they draft a nice tall WR). I thought the game really highlighted why a team needs a tall receiving option. Here you have Hackett using his size to make catches for 10+ yards on crucial downs. On the other side, short speedy Santana Moss was getting overthrown with passes that if he were a few inches taller ( or Hackett size), could've gotten.

That's the key though, IF he stays healthy.

One thing to remember is that Parcells was a wee bit disgusted with the number of Miami players on the injured list this year and said it wouldn't happen again. So I'm not sure we look at players that have a history of being injury prone. JMO

Andre Davis would be interesting to look at for the WR spot, had a HUGE year for a depleted Texans squad, but I very much expect them to resign him.

True. But with few options in FA, may have to take what's out there.

Major injuries are almost always flukey and totally unpredictable and unpreventable. You get seasons where everything chugs along, seasons where 1-2 guys might go down, and seasons where it seems the whole team is one massive IR list. Absolutely nothing you can do.
Injury prone is a relative term. If a guy keeps getting the same type of injury (high ankle sprains, continued turf toe, concussion issues) then hes injury prone. If he breaks a leg one year then blows out a knee the next hes just unfortunate.
Frankly, I was surprised to hear those comments. A tougher conditioning might help prevent minor injuries players get while fatigued or tired or not paying attention due to that, but its not going to keep someone from breakinga collarbone. Not saying I agreed with Cams approach (I didnt), I just dont want to see an overreaction to a flukely injury season and have half the team wiped out before our first game.

Flozell Adams, he is a Parcells guy and even though he is old he could help for a year or two....

Like Corey Williams alot! If he isn't tagged by the Packers, he'd look good in a Phins uniform.

I totally agree. Roth has been a big dissapointment for a 2nd rd pick. Esp since he came into this year bigger and stronger and ready to breakout. He was non existent for the most part. He is a solid backup or revolving door DL type.

no way Williams gets tagged. They'd have to pay him as a top 5 DT, and they've already got big money invested in Pickett and Harrell

we could get a conditional pick for him.

I'm almost positive Smith played as a 3-4 DE at some point in his career, but I might be wrong. I also don't think we'll be a true 3-4 team for a long time. Traylor is the only NT we have and he's too old to do it every down, We do not have the ILBs to run the system, and aside from Wright, we don't have the DEs either.
