http://tsn.sportingnews.com/ As hard as it would be to get rid of Taylor , it is a very interesting deal.
I'd take this deal for JT in a heartbeat. Rogers and Williams both have significant football time ahead fo them.
This was out two months ago. Chris Mortensen reported it as a rumor. I posted it on here lol but yeah good post to remind us. I would trade jt for roy williams and jones possibly. There is also rumors that Shaun Rogers, theyr all pro DT, could be on his way out due to character issues.
Shaun Rogers is a heck of a player, just what we need. Roy Williams would be perfect opposite Ginn. If we could do a deal for those two that would be amazing, but I doubt it happens.
hypothetically this happens.......do we draft gholston or long.....sense we have that playmaker DT???
I doubt Detroit would do this trade. If they're trying to clear cap space why would they want an expensive, older vet?
Your assuming the Lions don't mind getting older, which I'm sure they aren't interested in. If the lions were "a player away" I could see it. But they aren't.
speaking of Detroit. did you guys know Matt Millen is the 3rd highest paid GM in the NFL? I was wow, how can this idiot get paid that much $.
If Detroit is cleaning house (what house?) then they won't want an older player like JT and in exchange give Miami Roy Williams and Shaun Rogers or just one of them straight up. I do prefer Shaun Rogers over Williams as he fills a much bigger need.
why wouldnt they want an older type of player? He brings experience, he plays every down his best and they dont really have that good of defensive ends. all they have on that d line is two interior dominant linemen and one of them is lazy as hell.
Shaun Rogers' productivity has declined in recent years, and there's enough questions surrounding his work ethic and character that I don't believe Parcells/Ireland would be all that interested.
could we trade JT to Detroit though? does he have a no trade clause in his contract & can only be traded to teams he approves of. maybe im thinking baseball here. plus, wouldnt JT want to be traded to a winner?
That's an assumption, and I don't think he particularly wants to have to bother to do that. They want character guys off the bat, not possible reclamation headaches.
I dont believe there is no trade clauses in the NFL. The only athletes that i know of that have a no trade clause are Alex Rodriguez and Kobe Bryant. As for JT and his wishes, sometimes you have to do whats best for the team and not for the player. We all love JT and we appreciate everything he has done for this 'chise but sometimes things have to change and I know he feels the same way. Now I doubt he wants to go to Detroit but thats what is best for our franchise and if thats what it takes to get quality players in here to help us win ball games, then damn it you have to do what you need to.
I agree with that. They are close enough to contend for playoffs but not SB. Then again these are the Lions we are talking about lol
I would do this in a heartbeat... We have way to many needs that need to be addressed prior to next year and if we can get 2 decent players at key positions for one elder player I say we do it today.. I love JT but I think him and Zach should be traded if you can do it.. Better than getting nothing in return.
I agree, he would be a good fit for this team, as long as we can get protection and a consistent QB. If not, Jesus Christ at WR wouldnt be able to help
ok. thanks for the answer. i doubt Detroit does this, we would probably have to throw in a draft pick. RoyW would be a very nice addition though.
I just saw it on another forum and wanted to see what you guys thought. Personally I think Roy Williams is easily a top 5 receiver in this league. Weather Detroit would want Taylor is the question. Rogers like many have stated is a lazy ***, but Parcells maybe able to work with him. I don't think Taylor for Williams is far fetched but if Rogers too might be out of the question.
give them zach thomas too if you have to. they need a MLB dont they? they got some guy named paris lenon playing for them there, it doesnt get any worse then that. I know you dont want to give up zach and jt but we are getting possibly a dominant DT and a very good receiver in this league
oh there are more no trade clauses, they are all just in baseball. Kobe Bryant is the only non baseball player with a no-trade clause, and they said there will never be another clause given to a basketball player (mainly cause it makes it impossible to trade them). As for the Lions doing or not doing a deal for JT; they might. They've got a lot of young players on their team, and they've also not been to the playoffs in a long time. Maybe they go for a quick fix to get the city excited.
I had the chance to see Williams in Philly earlier this year and he was all the Lions had. He turned short slant patterns into 50 yard TDs. He's definitely a player I'd love to have opposite of Ginn.
Send em Porter (to replace the departing Boss Bailey), one of their two seconds and maybe a 2nd next year. Hell, I'd give up the 32nd pick to get Williams and Rogers in a heartbeat.
only way i give up the 32nd pick is if I can have a talk with the two about how they feel coming here and if they are want to be here. Also, if i could have a personal talk with shaun rogers about his work ethic and if he can convince me that he will give it all despite records
His work ethic is definitely questionable, however the guy is a productive run stopper and can pressure the QB with the best of them at DT. I'll tell you this,if two Pro Bowls, and a 7 sack season in 2007 if the production with him half hearting it, I shutter to think what he does when he's got a fire lit under him.
