Not if you're Derek Fisher in transition and you pull up to shoot it. He's the type of guy that needs to be set to make that shot. His transition shot is like Luke's fade away--always comes up short.

Fisher is 3rd on the team in FGA, more than Pau and Bynum. He has more FGA than Kidd and Nash. I don't care if he's a open, that's a problem. Especially when he's not hitting!

10-1 though, solid back-to-back win tonight

If the 72-10 Bulls aren't sweating yet, they should be. Our next 10 games:

    Kings
    Nets
    Mavericks
    Raptors
    Pacers
    Wizards
    Bucks
    Kings
    Suns

Two tough games against the Suns and Mavericks, rest are cupcakes and Kings twice

You never want to count wins before you get them, but the schedule does appear to favor the Lakers over the enxt ten games or so.

Another big win last night. It is impressive in that it was the tail end of a back to back, on the road and it wasn't even close. I think th eLAkers' halftime score was what the Nuggets scored 3 minutes into the fourth quarter.

I do believe Fisher's taking more shots than he usually does especially when there are guys like Pau and Bynum open underneath. It's a bit of a concern because his poor shooting selection and FG% cost us heavily in the Detroit loss. I mean what the hell are you doing chucking up 16 shots when Pau was hitting his.

Another blowout. I kinda like it.

Best of all, we're playing great defense and technically our offense isn't even fully realized.

What a great win by the boys tonight. I was watching the game with a few diehards and we thought it was going to be another LA at home Friday Night loss because we're looking ahead at the clubs but what a way for them to prove us wrong.

Kobe with a quiet 33. Ariza is such a baller. I can't believe we got him for Cook and Evans.

    In Mitch We Trust!

    13-1:up::knucks:

I knew Ariza could slash and defend but boy was I surprised when he added a mid-range and 3pt shot. Essentially he has the 3 point shot Cook had with the slashing ability of Evans PLUS defensive prowess.

I think the question of who is more important to re-sign, Ariza or Odom has been answered.

Odom's not happy being a 6th man so I don't know if he'd even stay. He'll get starters money from someone unless he wants to play for a contender. But he's really flourishing in that role because the 2nd unit tends to be more uptempo and less triangle. That's right up Odom's alley.

So off to the East Coast we go for game 1 of the back-to-back trip. So far we have played most of our games at Staples and these road trips couldn't be any more important with Boston sitting on a dominant 17-2. Here's to hoping we take care of Indy and Philly like we took care of New Orleans and Dallas

Main thing is to not be complacent. We can beat any team any time. We just gotta play our game.

Basically, they did what I was warning against in my previous post. Got complacent, fell into some unlucky breaks, and lost.

Oh ya, and it's so frustrating with this team at times. We go on 19-0 runs and then they go on a 17-2 run or something. I hope Phil is emphasizing, underlining, and bolding how important HCA will be this year. Not so much in the West, but if Boston gets by the East it will be. 2-3-2 is such a crappy format to do those 3 in a row.

Speaking of Phil, does it also drive you up the wall when he lets them "play through" those runs? I know I know, who am I to criticize the HOF coach, but I don't think it's always the best approach depending on which unit is out there

It's always been Phil's philosophy to let the players get through it themselves. It's how he got a previously ok team into a power player by strengthening mental fortitude. A veteran team should be expected to do that and in that way, it better prepares them mentally. If they have to keep calling timeouts because they can't figure out a way to make the fix themselves, when the pressure really gets cooking in crunch time and they don't have any more timeouts, they'll be stunted. It's like education. If you keep giving someone the answer prematurely when they get stuck on a little math problem instead of letting them think it through, you hinder their development. Because when they hit that big hard math problem, they won't have the skills to try to figure it out on their own. For now, he lets it run during the regular season unless it really gets out of hand.

Barely escaped a 1 pt loss. That shot by Butler made my heart stop for a second or two. I mean, once again Phil and his play through theory at work. I hope it pays off in the long run, because it sure isn't working now

I know "playing through it" has always been PJ's motto, but sometimes I'd like to see PJ call a time out.Just to break/disrupt the other team's momentum..not to "coach/scold" our players.IDK...he does have 9 titles to his credit...:wink2:

Odom's obviously the captain of that 2nd unit which is supposedly more up-tempo. Problem is, it hasn't been as up-tempo as it's been more catch and shoot. Their main role is to play D and slash.

Vlad has seen 0 minutes in the last 8 quarters. If we aren't trading him, I'm seriously doubting and questioning Phil's "mind games" at this point.

I'd love to see Josh Powell in extended minutes. It may be the case that we've found a capable Odom replacement if we'd like to trade him.

Detroit is tanking a bit. Perhaps Tayshaun might find his way onto the market if we make the right pieces available.

Say what you will about how much it would suck to see him gone but Odom+Ariza for Tayshaun might be worth it. I'd expect a piece back though to cover our hole at PF it would create.

It would make me feel far more comfortable going against teams with great PFs.

You act like the Heat had a ton to do with it. Besides, it is December, wake me when its February.

When you shoot (50%) from the free throw line, chances are you are going to lose. That has nothing to do with the Heat, everything to do with the Lakers.

I don't know if I'd add Ariza to the deal since he's been crucial off the bench (financially it wouldn't work unless Pistons donated Kwame Brown, which is a blech). I'd rather keep Ariza and trade Odom for Prince straight-up or with Radmanovic for a PF. That way, we can give Prince a breather and still have a defensive SF out there.

That and all the turnovers. Lakers are thinking too much ahead right now for Dec 25th and not paying attention to the present.

So I suppose the Diamondbacks are a greater franchise than the Yankees. Don't talk trash because you'll get a load of **** on your plate next time you lose.

What was that anyway your first championship? At least most Heat fans hold themselves with some sense of class.

I think this team is in major need of a trade for Rasheed Wallace. He is the one guy who can spread the floor immensely for Kobe inside. I'd seriously consider playing Radmanovic at this point to do just that at the PF position.
