Davis is a good QB. He has a legitimate deep ball arm and can spread the ball around. There is a zip to his passing, although I don't like his delivery stance; he's low and his upper half is scrunched up on delivery. He needs to stand taller in the pocket, but the kid can play.
I know we've talked about the possibility of taking a guy like Tyson Jackson and grooming him as the Nose but what about a guy like Alex MaGee in the mid rounds? He's nearly identical size-wise to Jackson at 6'3", 295 and he displays good quickness off the ball in my opinion. He spends time inside and outside of the defensive line. As a pass-rusher, he uses his hands well. He has a few pass rush moves in his arsenal such as speed rush, bulrush and swim technique. I think he displays good lateral speed and pursuit for a guy his size. I haven't seen much of him at the DT spot but I'm very interested to see how he plays there. Why not take a guy like him in the 3rd round and take a guy like Clint Sintim in the first. Would it be a pipe dream to get a scenario of Sintim (1st), English (2a) and MaGee (3) ?
Boomer mentioned this idea in the "who would you draft at #19" thread, middle of the thread I believe.
If anyone has watched the last two Ole Miss games, Peria Jerry will be a great NFL lineman, I would say if he is available when we pick in the first round, we look at him.
He would be. But he's also about 297 with a frame that could add weight. He pays with great leverage and a tremendous base and whilst it's unlikely, it's never worth ruling anything out, especially given the Jay Ratliff thing.
Thoughts on Kenny Ingram? Height: 6-foot-6, Weight: 229 pounds. Class: Sr Hes been buried on Mickey Andrew depth chart. FWIW:Everybody he'd play basketball as well, never did though.
Question of curiosity about Davis. How much will his not using the laces to throw the ball affect his status? I'd figure scouts might look into that, but he seems to have a very live arm.
Does Boomer (the English chap) post here regularly??? I've enjoyed his posts elsewhere, but I didn't realize he posted here.
If it ain't broke...... I dunno, I'm sure a QB coach will want to get that sorted out, but if he's never had a problem with it, why alter how he throws now? It's like Roethlisberger throwing with a glove or not.
Boomer aka Simon does post regularly in the draft forum and in the club level. Actually after each weeks game he post a quite lengthy "Lowering the Boom" of random thought from that weeks Dolphin, NFL and College games. Always a great read. Be patient, he will answer you before too long. CK is also in this site if you have seen his posts elsewhere, but there are many, many more intelligent posters in this forum and I am sure you will figure out on your own who they are over time.
