Wow, what a long week this has been. The only saving grace is that about all the major football and sports shows had at least some Phins news on it. Kinda gave a junky like me a "little fix" But still, it wasn't enough, gameday just couldn't come fast enough. Haven't had this type of week in a very long time as a Phin fan. Yes, its Mid November, opening weekend of rifle Season here in Tennessee, and the Phins have a HUGE GAME with season, playoffs, and even identity changing implications.
This is the type of game, the feel, of why a fan is a fan. The game will bring huge joy at times, and probably, some "What the hell moments". Some will watch and go with the flow only reacting to the "big plays". The wildcat TD pass from Ginn to Pennington. The Tedd Ginn TD return after the Patsie fail to score a on first and goal from the 3 and settle for a field goal to tie the game 3-3. Joey Porters 3rd Sack in the 2nd Qtr. Crowders force fumble early in the 3rd. Bells interception in the 4th. Yeah these will all be big plays.
But the true fan, like many many of us on this board, will live and die a little with each and every play. No, play will be more important then the 3rd and 4 hook to Carmillo that got 4 1/2 yards .. The 3 yard scramble by Pennington on 2nd and 7 that produces a much more easier to convert 3rd and 4 instead of a sack or poor throw. The Porter pressure, the Defensive stops. Each and every play is as important as the last, but none more important then the next. There have been times where I thought I would have a heart attack due to the joy of a huge TD, or the sorrow of a pick 6. The other fans "big plays".

Today is a game for us fans to enjoy. Its why we are fans. So win lose or draw (you know that can happen in the NFL) relish today.

Because if we win.....its big, really big for this franchise. If we lose, well...remember we are young and trying to learn to win. Nobody on this board, even the true optimist like myself, thought we would realisticly be "right here right now".
The main thing is this. Its finally a day that we as Dolphins fans live for. But for us, the ones all ate up with it. We will live each play, as it happens, together as one, with our team and each other. Connected, sharing the same emotions at the same time. That why I am not just a football fan. I am a fan of the Miami Dolphins. Today, we as a family, are playing a huge football game!
    Enjoy it fellow Phin Fans!!!

(Now lets go slap them Patsies!!)

  2. Perfect post, Mulligan -- we were just saying virtually the same thing yesterday in my house. We haven't had a game like this in a long, long time -- a game that we (and a lot of the "experts" agree) are going into with a realistic "we can WIN this game" mentality.

A win would, of course, be phenomenal (and I firmly believe we WILL win this one); however, if we do lose, this team --who just one short year ago was 1-15 -- should hold their heads up high as they leave the field and be proud of a very respectable 6-5 record.

This season has already surpassed my expectations, and personally I couldn't be more proud of our players and the coaching/management team that has given us all an exciting season and legitimate reason to believe that better things are still to come.

All that being said, I hope we destroy New England this afternoon...

    Great post, Thank You.

I said before the season anything over 4 wins would be great! This team is coming together very fast and are staying grounded as well so that makes the sky the limit. I would love to see us be the one to put one of (close to if not) the final nails in the Pats season.

    GO Phins!!!

YESSSSSS ITS SUNDAY. I'm just so proud of our players and coaches. Their efforts put us in a position to have a high stakes game this late in the season.

    Go Phins, Crush those Patsies!

I can only watch the first half!

My travel basketball team upset the # 1 ranked team in a Tournament last night and we play for the Championship today. Good thing I have DVR.

Watching all the pre game breakdowns, all they seem to be talking about is the wildcat and the new suprises teh dolphins could bring.

There is almost an attitude that if we don't have success with the wildcat we can't win.

I'm not even thinking about the wildcat and think we have a legit shot at winning.

Our team has confidence, were at home, our injury report is blank, theirs is not. I hope we find a way to win without the wildcat, just to prove to the nfl world this team is for real with or without the wildcat.

ALthough if we do win with success with the wildcat , i won't be complaining.

The best part about this season is that in many peoples eyes (including my own) the season has already been labled a success. I cannot believe how fast Parcells and company got this team turned around so fast.

It seems I lucked out today, I turned off the TV after we scored to make it 21-17 to go to coach my Championship basketball game, we destroyed the team we were playing to win the Championship and I missed a bad second half, I guess its kind of a win/win/lose.
