    now

    Carey
    Liwienski
    Satele
    Hadnot
    Shelton

    08

    Long
    Faneca
    Satele
    Hadnot
    Carey

carey has been better at right tackle then left, and if we draft long in the first round and pick up faneca in free agency our line would be top tier.

I still think Jake Long is a RT in the NFL.

Hopfully a LT falls to number 32 , if not we probably look at Chris Williams Vandervuilt LT in the second.

I could see us bringing in Faneca before bringing in Jake Long....I think Chris Long of Virginia, Little Howie, will be our first pick.

no matter what..we or someone else will pay left tackle money to Carey.. could we really afford to pay two left tackles.. and I agree about Long. I watched him get beat by speed.. something he will see every game in the bigs

Jake Long is not an NFL left tackle, and putting him there will get our QB killed.

Ryan Clady and Jeff Otah are better LT prospects.

I agree Desides , but we would have to trade down to get them. Both of those guys will go in the first. Chris Williams will be there in the second.

There's no way we're bringing in Faneca AND keeping Hadnot. Hadnot is going to get a good deal from someone, and if so then that'll be way to much money at the G position.

    forget about faneca . . .

and forget about Jake Long also . . . and if he was drafted, he wouldn't play LT over Vernon Carey.

I could see Long, Dorsey, Mcfadden and Matt Ryan . . . before I see Jake Long #1 overall.

BTW, I am also liking Chris Long . . . but Dorsey was a beast earlier this year, and he brings some leadership intangibles that are very impressive . . . honestly, either one is fine . . . we need help @ both positions . . . DE is just a sexier pick.

    Next year . . . I'm guessing . . .

    LT - Vernon Carey
    LG - Drew Mormino
    C - Samson Satele
    RG - Rex Hadnot
RT - Shelton/Rookie/Toledo/Esera/Julius Wilson/Alabi (I think either the rookie or one of the PS players steps up)

Spending that kind of money to fix something that wasnt broken(The left side of the OL) would be ridiculous. Faneca will probabaly top the 50 million dollar contract Leonard Davis signed last year, Rex Hadnot will cost a fair amount to resign, quite possibly too much considering Derrick freaking Dockery got a big contract last year, and Jake Long would cost more than both of them.

The OL isnt going to look anything like that next year, and shouldnt.

yeah thats kinda what i was gonna say... our line was one of our few bright spots this year... we just need an upgrade at LG, but we could have that with mormino now that hes had a season in the weight room and will be healthy... also we have toledo if he decides he wants to play football and not be a walking injury...

i wouldnt' go too nuts trying to upgrade the oline, when the defense was clearly the issue for us the entire season...

There are two positions on the offensive line that do not need to be upgraded: left tackle (Carey) and center (Satele).

After that, the order of priority should be left guard, right tackle, and right guard. I wrote a column on Carey last week, and I'm going to follow that up this week with a piece on Satele, Shelton, and Hadnot.

I won't even bother with our left guards because both were inept.

I don't know about us gettng Fanneca. But I'd love to see the 08 line. Jake Long at LT and Carey at RT would give us bookend tackles.
