I know that you think your football analysis is beyond reproach, but there are a ton of NFL analysts that have graded both Langford and Merling extremely highly thus far. Moreover, our defense as a whole has been extremely strong against the run in most games.

Merling and Langford both rookies and will only get better as they learn the NFL game, and having a proven vet like Holliday playing with them will only accelerate the process.

Oh, and both are "Parcells" draft picks.

But hey, if you're sure that they need to be replaced, then who am I to argue...

Correct that. They are using the LG as a spy on him as well and keeping a TE or Rb to the inside of the LG.

Holding / face mask penalties on the OL + David Martin sucks.

 

The problem is that Holliday can't play DT in dime. Couple that with the fact that he's also too small to play a 34 DE. He's just not suited for anything we are trying to do. Hopefully a years worth of work (and weight) will move Merling into the position.

The hold on the Ricky TD and the fumble by Martin cost us 14 points. Yes that is inexcusable but are we really shocked on how this team plays down to the competition?

He's second on the team in sacks with 3.5, which is not bad for a DE in a 3-4 alignment.
