Because he drops balls that would be first downs and extend drives. He drops the balls that mean the most to a successful football team. He has played football for years going back to his childhood - as a receiver the one thing he should do is catch.

    Amen.

Well if he would stop doing things wrong we could stop talking about it :tongue2:
Bess will end up being better than Ginn - I have no doubt about it.

Aren't you supposed to be a moderator or something? Shouldn't you try to address the post rather than attacking the poster?

I'm not sure how to tell you this without being accused of personally attacking you, so bear with me...

    1) I definitely disagree with you and I definitely think that Merling and Langford are playing well already and will only get better with experience. I should have made that more clear in my initial response.

    2) The only reason I mentioned other people's opinions are because a) you made a remark about how if "people" (you've since said it wasn't directed at me even though you responded to my post) can't see the need for defensive ends, then you don't know what to tell them. My point is that there are plenty of people in analysis circles (including me) that think Langford and Merling are playing well, which would suggest that there is no glaring need for an upgrade at defensive end.

    3) When you make comments like "if such such, etc...then I don't know what to tell you" it makes it seems as if the opposite of your opinion is somehow not worthy of argument. I've noticed that tone in some of your other posts, which is why I mentioned that you seem to think your analysis is beyond approach. It wasn't really a personal attack (i.e. you suck, you're an idiot, you're a jerk, etc...). It was just something I sensed in your response. Mind you, if you were responding to an assertion that was truly inane or impossible to argue (like had I said that Jason Allen deserve to be in the Pro Bowl or that Ted Ginn is the best receiver in the league) then your comment would have been valid IMO. However, to say that in regards to the play of Holliday, Merling, and Langford and their prospects for the future -something that leaves plenty of room for interpretation, disagreement, difference of opinion, etc... - is not cool.

    4) It's too bad that you could care less about what other analysts say or think. There's nothing wrong with using/trusting your own two eyes, but if you talk to some of the great minds of the game and/or analysts, they'll likely tell you that they got there by listening to peers and using that feedback to temper their own opinions. You don't have to be a follower in order to do that. You just have to keep an open mind and factor other voices into the mix.

In the end, to each his own.

You say that you don't care about what other people say and that defensive end is a top 2 or 3 need, go for it.

    No skin off my nose.

As with most things, I'll allow Parcells and company to make that determination in the offseason. But as I mentioned, I would be shocked to see the Dolphins take a high-profile defensive end via free agency or in the first 3 rounds of the draft.

I'd say that all of these positions are higher priorities:
    CB
    S
    OG
    DT
    OL
    IL
    WR

If anyone just saw the hit on Wes Welker, that is the exact reason why every team is going to spread offense. The NFL has turned a clean hit from a safety into a penalty. Nobody is scared to pass over the middle any longer as a result.

Yes, it would be totally different if you would have said that to begin with. Also it would help to see your own opinions on it, not whom YOU might think are the analysists we should be listening to.

It was directed at you and was a way to refrain from making it a personal attack, and could not be debated by me because you gave others opinions not your own.

Also, please clear something up for me. I don't want to take it the wrong way. The part in the above quote that is in bold. Are you telling me that you're in the analysist circle, or was that meant to mean you just aggree with their opinion?

I'm sorry but I think you need to go back and read some of your own comments Hugo. Seriously, this is not an insult but your calling the kettle black here. I've seen you call out 20 posters in the last 4 or so weeks during the game day threads. With me (on game day threads), I give opinions, and have not even called anyone out as to not knowing what they're talking about except making a joke to one poster a few times. I hardly even quote anyone on game days. With you, it's not even like you're beyond approach. It's like and I'm trying to be respectfull here, but with you, it's like everyone listen up, this is what it is, and thats all.

Why is it too bad? I happen to love football, I happen to have played some football. I've been following football almost all of my life. I think I know a little bit about the game. I think I know how to recognize some coverages, routes, techniques, schemes when I see them live. I do not love football because I go around listening to what analysists say. I happen to like having my own opinion, and I'm happy to express it as well.

I don't like my opinion changed just because someone says well so and so said different. I like to form my own. Whats wrong with that is beyond me...
