So, the Patriots are losing by 10 now to Pittsburgh, and Pitt is deep in the Red Zone AGAIN, and the Jets are getting beat pretty good by the Broncos. We have a very good chance at being tied for 2nd, and one game out of first by around 7:30 pm!!! DOLPHINS FANS REJOICE!!! Seriously, after last season, who would have thought??
There is still plenty of time in both games, but a Jets/Patsies combined loss would be fantastic, especially with Barfalo also losing today!!!!!!!!! Cutler just threw a pick. Sorry but he is no John Elway!!!!!!!!
At 7-5, it amazes me that people think that if we go 10-6 there is no way we'd get into the playoffs, even at 11-5.. some people think there's no way we'd go to the playoffs... Let's face it, it's rare when a 10-6 team doesn't get into the playoffs, let alone a 11-5... Teams will lose games they shouldn't, let's just hope that Miami doesn't fall under that category...
Well, there is plenty of time in both games, but, both Pittsburgh and Denver seem to be pulling away. Pittsburgh just kicked another field goal, giving them a 13 point lead. SWEET!!
Well, I agree, I think if we're 10-6 we have a good shot at making the playoffs...however, didn't we miss the playoffs a few years back with a 10-6 record? If we're 11-5 and miss the playoffs, there will be serious problems...
Pittsburgh's kicker has kicked two 20 yards field goals (from the Pat's 3 yard line) and one 25 yarder....they should be beating the Pats by about 24 points.
I learned a LONG time ago not to count out the Patriots during a game. The Steelers are winning...for now.
If we were to go 11-5 i feel its just near impossible to miss the playoffs but at 10-6 i think it will be hard for us to get in but still very possible.
Anytime ne or ny lose is good to me. I don't think we have anything to complain about after last year. You guys all said it, it's all up from there. I'm proud of our rookie coach and rookies.
1. Head-to-Head 2. Division Record 3. Common Games 4. Conference Record 5. Strength of Victory 6. Strength of Schedule 7. Combined Ranking Among Conference Teams (points scored and points allowed) 8. Combined Ranking Among All Teams (points scored and points allowed) 9. Net Points (common games) 10. Net Points (all games) 11. Net Touchdowns (all games)
If Miami wins and both are 3-2 in the division then it goes to Conference record which is now; NE is 5-4 and Miami is 5-4. After that I have no clue how the tiebreaker works. If NE loses against Pitt they are 5-5 and Miami will have the lead at 5-4 for this week in the Wildcard race but not in the division. Also next week Miami with a win will be 6-4 in conference and NE will still be at 5-5 since they play Seattle next week.
Great Reed missed a FG that would have given the Steelers a 16 point lead....it is now just a 13 point (two score) lead. I have seen this act way too often. The Pats will now come back and cheat their way to a lucky win. Never fails.
Wow, big break there. Now my attention is turned to the denver jets game. Not lookin so great for denver, their players are dropping like flies.
These Jets fans are aholes. Theyre booing every time a bronco goes down hurt, what a bunch of pricks.
Heck yeah, and now denver made a big 4th down stop! If they can get one more score off a long drive we're in good shape.
Well Indy and Baltimore both won today and they are as much our opponents right now as the Pats and Jets because they currently hold the two wild card spots. It is still possible for us to win the division, but the reality is that the way the Jets are playing, and with Baltimore and Indy both having found their form, it's not looking very good for us.
Well, all I know is that we're gonna be one game out of first in the AFC East. If we can win it, it doesn't matter one bit what Indy and Baltimore do.
You're right, but since 1990 we are one of three teams to miss the playoffs at 10-6. The other two were the Eagles and the 49ers in 1991. There is only one team in the history of the NFL, I believe, that has missed the playoffs at 11-5... That would be the 1985 Denver Broncos. I'm not saying it won't happen, I am saying that it's rare and likely won't. I think if we can win our games, we will get in... It seems like people look too much into the playoffs right now and worry about the mathematical scheme too much...
Technically, the Jets will have the tie-breaker as-is, so there's no point in us being tied with the Jets for the division at seasons end. We will probably have to be a game up on them outright. Over the Pats, we do have in our favor the fact that we still have two games to play in the division to their one. If the Jets crumble, and we win out, and the Pats win out, we'll have the tie-breaker over the Pats. But as I see it, the Jets are still out in front in the division, by virtue of their tie-breaker advantage and one game lead. We can really only go out and play our best and hope to win every game. The rest is out of our hands. I just have a murky feeling more and more that last weeks game will come back to haunt us. It was such an important game and we didn't deliver.
it will be exactly the same we play 14 games the same we lost to houston and baltimore they lost to indy and pitt so conference record will come into play
Actually, looking at things as they are, it is quite possible that at least one 10-6 team will miss the playoffs this season in the AFC. There are currently six teams (New York, New England, Miami, Indianapolis, Baltimore, Pittsburgh) in reach of ten win seasons, excluding Tennessee who have already made the cut. With a walk-in coming from the AFC West, that's seven teams fighting for five playoff spots. Assuming Tennesse is a given, lets say Pittsburh are a given as well - there are three teams outside of the division that would only need to go 2-2 over the last four games to get ten wins, and they would essentially be fighting for two wild card spots (and that's excluding the possibility of us and New England both finishing with ten wins also).
Correct me if I'm wrong but if we win out we win the AFC east we all finish 11-5 we would have the tie-breaker over the Pats based on conference record 8-4 for us 7-5 for new england we have common opponets over jets 11-3 for us 10-4 for the jets
Right. When I said "win it," I didn't mean that final game against the Jets, I meant, win the division. However, even if we DON'T make the playoffs, the fact that we are 12 games through the season, and talking about winning the division, or missing the playoffs with a 10-6 record is AWESOME. After last season, I thought we'd be overachieving if we went 8-8 this year...
