right when i got nba 2k9 too!! i just got home and i got the game earlier in the day and i get the red lights!!! i did the thing where you push the dvd eject button and the sync and the same time 4 times and see which red lights show up.. i got 0002

Here is how you interpret the LEDs to get the code number:
All four lights flashing - 0
    One light flashing - 1
    Two Lights flashing - 2
    Three lights flashing - 3

    0002 Network Interface problem

but according to this thread 3 Red Rings?? READ THIS! - AVS Forum

    0002 means power supply problem

so how do i fix this, or do i have to send it to microsoft???

That sucks man... I hated when mine did it. I had a launch console that just died last year around this time. My replacement is so far so good..

I dont think theres much you can do but send it in.

Probably gotta send it in, unless Mor can help you. Usually I'd recommend sending it in because M$ is really picky about independent fixes.

This is from another site I use as my Xbox source.

0020 looks to be a GPU issue which is probably happening because of the X-clips on the back of the 360 mobo warped the board and caused one of the solder points to break.

If your 360 is under warranty I'd just send it back to Microsoft. If its not this is actually pretty inexpensive to fix. Also not very difficult if you're comfortable with working inside of a console.

The parts needed to replace the X-clips are cheap, less then $10 if you have a Torx set already.

My friends did this....he would be playing and the screen would go all crappy then get the lights.
It was over heating due to the dust build up. (its the early model and it was the first time he had an issue with it..about 2 months ago.)
We pried open his system with some thumb tacks and screwdrivers got in there and cleaned it out good, and wala good as brand spanken new.(he didn't have the warranty so he didn't have anything to lose.)

is it the same problem you are having? I cant say for sure but it sounds like it could be.

It was a little tricky to open the case but other than that it was a quick 20 min fix that he hasn't had an issue with since.

i just turned it on to check the error code, and it was working, like nothing ever happened...i guess it got overheated like your friends but i was barely playing for 30 minutes, and it was the first time in a couple of days i turned it on.....
