Texas A&M TE Martellius Bennett and UCF RB Kevin Smith have both declared today.

What this means for us in my eyes is with our picks and the possibility of trading down for more the more people that come out the more people will drop to us. I dont see us taking a running back so Kevin Smith will help somebody drop and could go in first round that will help us at 32. Bennett adds more depth to a position of need but falls in line with some of the other tight ends available. At 6'7 260 he has the size but lacks the blocking skills. A terrific pass catching tight end. With him added along with Rucker, Davis, Carlson, Ingram, Davis, Cottam. I think we could be able to find a solid TE in this draft. My vote would be for John Carlson who is a baller who can do everything asked of him but may not be a freak like Ingram Davis and Bennett.

    Thoughts?

Woah I could have sworn i heard Smith was returning for his senior year but Bennett was a guy I have been keeping my eye on. He has great size, good hands, and he is pretty fast. That would be a great player to draft.

Yeah before there Bowl game Smith said he was coming back and I forget who the broadcaster was but said he doesnt believe anyone when they say that till after the deadline passes and thought Smith would bolt to the draft. Good Call on his part.

With 4 of the first 64 picks, the more underclassmen the better for us!

Agree w/ your comments - hopefully Smith goes in Rd 1, pushing someone we're more likely to draft down a spot. Also, Bennett's another quality receiving TE that should be in the mix for us in Rd 2 or 3, along with Davis, Rucker and a few others. I'd be surprised if we don't get our starting TE from this draft.

    Texas A&M TE Martellius Bennett

I watched the bowl game, and almost didn't see him do anything, he was barely part of the game plan. Apparently, he's pretty raw. Great size, but he sounds like a project.

to be fair to hom though, A&M is pretty much an option team anyways that doesn't look to the TEs

martellius bennett is outstanding. He has good hands and does a lot of boxing out to catch balls like gates because of his basketball background. Hes raw but is very good imo. Ingram reminds me a lot of a reciever because of his physique. Carlson is good too as you stated.
