Also to note, Peterson went 7th overall in his draft. Thats 6 other teams who passed on him. So yes they knew he was good (top 10 pick) but if anyone could see the future no one knew he was going to be this good.

He is by far the most dominant RB in the league. Hands down.

Also, sometimes his own team doesn't realize how good he is, in the tampa game how he was not used at all in the 4th quarter is beyond me, childress, if you knew anything a close game, give the ball to 28, he is a td waiting to happen on any given play, even with the box loaded.

Ronnie has been fine, in his limited touches he's done well for what the team is asking from him, and his nose for the endzone has been great. As he gets farther away from his surgery his touches will go up, but with ricky running decent, why risk the over working of brown, who has the skill there but has a history of health problems.

Not sure how you can compare anyone to AP, he is just a machine. And ronnie in my opinion was a better back than anyone else taken in 2005 which is what our team's priority was at the time.

This thread is comparing apples to oranges when looking at scenarios between two different players.

    Firstly, different draft classes.

Secondly, when comparing, how would AP fair behind the Dolphin OL sharing half his snaps and how would Ronnie fair behind the Viking's OL getting every snap.

Lastly, how much longer (how many more years) is AP going to play getting every snap and taking the pounding in this NFL? Yeah sure, he can do it when's his young but it'll be a very short career. The Dolphins are doing Ronnie a favor and extending his football life.

Well I appreciate everyone's opinion, they have been insightful.

One thing I noticed about Brown is he sees the field well when throwing the ball, he made a great pass to Martin (TE) and unfortunately Martin fumbled the ball, and if not I felt we would have scored on that drive, if not for the fumble.

The guys of NFL Network feel 10 wins will win this division, so if we can win the remaining games, we'll be sure to get a Wildcard spot...

    Wait, what?

Brown, till Sunday, had two 1st rounders and two second rounders blocking for him. That's hardly a patch job. Yes we've rotated the RG spot, but let's not make too many excuses.

Has Brown got the ball enough? No.

Has he done enough with it when he's got it? No.

Is he a great back? No

    Can he become one? Absolutely.

He stands on the precipice of greatness because he has it all. But he has been maddeningly inconsistent at times and he only occasionally dips his toe into the Great Pond.

To answer the original question, he doesn't produce like Peterson because they are two totally different offensive philosophies and also because Peterson IS better.

I for one would like to see Brown get more of the ball, even though Ricky, Cobbs and even Polite are earning their carries. The thing is, when Ronnie is on song he can be a dominant running back as we all saw last year. The thing is, Cameron gave him the ball more because he was the ONLY offensive player producing. This season we are so much more balanced, but I don't feel that we control the clock when we should. In think giving Brown the ball more and letting him be the #1 guy may help us do that. We are winning games, but we aren't dominating them. If Ronnie keeps the ball I think we can do that.

    Any thoughts?

Not everyone is going to have an Adrian Peterson, thats why he is Adrian Peterson. Ronnie is a pro bowl back and that cant be taken away from him, he will only get better with more touches.

I really liked adrian in the draft and thought very good of him sure i wish we had him he will be a big threat in the nfl the guy just has the vision for them holes as to ronnie never sees them , Ronnie i think is doing pretty good never really lived up to the pick but then again the draft didnt have many good players and we were in need of a rb.

.. Ronnie and Ricky will get the job done so why all the complaining ...

You dont know what you are talking about please do not talk about things you dont know about.

    1. Ronnie was the best pick avable

    2. How many different staffs has he been up he has never gotten a chance to get stetteled in a system.

    3. Ronnie last season I dont know if you watched him or not he was fantastic he lead the league in rushing yards in till he got injuried. Even after he got injuried he was still leading the league for a few more weeks because he was so far ahead.

    4. Must I remind you that he is coming back from and ACL tear. Which is very hard to come back from.

    5. He is not getting carries. I think personaly the reason he is not getting carries is because he they are trying to get him through the season and then watch come the 2009 season he will be running over everybody and you will eat you words.

    6. How coming you are not complianing about Ricky Williams because he is in the same boat as Ronnie Brown they are no handing the ball off to them.

    7. Also I feel that Ronnie Brown has been great coming back from an ACL. He als has an young Offensive line.

There is always a fresh back in the game. That can be a gamebreaker late in the game when the opposing defense is pooped.

Also, ask Barry Sanders or Earl Campbell what it's like being a battling ram for years.

This is probably the best evidence yet that ronnie brown is capable of being just as good as AP. With that many more carries he would already be over 1,000 yards and would have approximately 6 more TD's than he has now. To me, i'll trade in those 200 yards less than AP for all of those TD's. Also proving ronnie needs the ball more.

In my previous post I wasn't comparing Ronnie Brown with Adrian Peterson nor was I saying he was as good or as talented as AP. I was simply stating that if you compare their statistics that Ronnie Brown would be a lot closer to Peterson's numbers than fans realize if both AP and RB were getting the same number of carries.
Ronnie Brown has shown in the past that the more carries he gets in a game the better he plays and he just simply isn't getting it this year.
This is not to critisize the coach or anyone else because they obviously have their reasons for his lack of playing time such as concern about the recovery from his previous injury or maybe just to keep the backs fresh and healthy.
It just really gets me why people start labeling him a disappointment or a bust because he isn't putting up AP type numbers when he is doing exactly what he is asked to do and he is doing it well.
Some fans seem to forget all the years this team was running back poor and the Dolphins were hard pressed to even have a back who could get over 3 yards a carry. Ronnie consistantly gets over 4 yards a carry, protects the football, has good hands to receive out of the backfield and has now shown he can throw a good pass

Well, he doesnt put up big numbers b/c we arent feeding him the ball.

When we fed him the ball last year, he was leading RBs in almost every catagory... producing as much or more than Peterson...

However, as far as drafting him... take a look at the top 10 that year. It was one of the weakest draft classes in recent memory:

    1. Alex Smith - Horrific Bust
    2. Ronnie Brown
    3. Braylon Edwards
    4. Cedric Benson - Horrific Bust
    5. Cadillac Williams - Bust
    6. Pacman Jones - Horrific Bust
    7. Troy Williamson - Horrific Bust
    8. Antrel Rolle - Bust
    9. Carlos Rogers - Bust
    10. Mike Williams - Horrific Bust

Of those 10 players, I'd say Ronnie is the best. It was just an incredibly weak draft. Just bad luck to have the #2 overall pick that year...
