It seems like everytime that the names that are put out there for a potential HC are always shot down by you fans, who dont seem to ever be satisfied with anyone. It goes along with the impatience and "instant gratification" character of the Miami Dolphin fanbase. It seems that all you fans want are coaches that are beyond our reach. The only candidates you guys seem to be in general agreement with is the Big Three(with of them now running the team already), due to the desire to bring experience and nothing less than a SUPERIOR track record. Anybody, but a first time HC. I dont even seen Sparano given a fair shot by most of you. Here's the truth:

!. Schottenheiemer: For one, guy has a poor record in the playoffs, no one knows if he can a team to the Super Bowl. Perhaps if he stayed in SD, who knows, maybe he would have the team seeded higher and thus, more of a contender for the Super Bowl than under Norv Turner this year, and with most likely Cam Cameron still on as Offensive Coordinator. If he would even want to come back to the NFL, would Parcells want him? There's no real connection with the two and they have differing philosophies from running a team to offensive execution, and types of players for the 3-4 defense. Plus, it would be weird him replacing his former apprentice, since Marty always spoke highly of Cameron. I dont think Marty would work well here.

    2. Cowher: Then there's Cowher. I would've loved to bring in Cowher before Parcells was in the picture. But we all know how Tuna is, his ego too large to co-exist with Bill, who likely will expect to have GM-like power in the next team he goes to. Plus, he seems to be getting more comfortable at CBS and I dont think he wants to inherit a mess of a team like ours, rather I think he would like to walk into a team thats mediocre and needs a guy like him to take them to the next level. Right now, we need a head coach that wants to be willing to take the time and patience to take the team to the next COUPLE of levels. Saban didn't have that, Cameron didn't execute the blueprint well, and Parcells wants a top-to-bottom type of managing style, not bottoms-up like what we had with Shula, JJ, Wanny, Saban, and to some extent, Cam.

Those two big names aside, why is everyone afraid of bringing in a coordinator? Jason Garrent and Josh McDaniels are NOT coming here, which seems to be the only guys you want to come here. There are plenty of good coaches who are unemployed, eventually they can find their niche and become sucessful. Look at Wade Phillips, yes he inherited a team that was mostly built by Parcells, but he could just as easily blown the opportunity like Mike Tice did with the Vikings after Dennis Green was let go. Green, btw, would make a good coach again if he ever got back into it.

I also have suggested Al Saunders, and some of you blasted me because his last gig was San Diego in the 80's. People, that was 20+ years ago.The league has changed since. He only got 2 years to do it. He was interviewed for HC jobs and didn't get them, but that doesn't mean that he wasn't offered, maybe he liked working with Vermeil at the time and turned them down?. Saunders, with Vermeil, built two very, very good offenses, in St. Louis and Kansas City. Vermiel's Philly offense was also very good. Remember how bad St. Louis and Kansas City were before those two took over? And look how much they improved. Addtionally, their defenses got better too, although never quite being dominant. What if Parcells doesn't get Sparano? He would have to start looking at Plan B, C, and D. What about the possibility of bring back Vermiel and Saunders, to build the offense? Pick up where Cam left off, and install a respecting, team atmosphere in the locker room at the same time? Imagine how much our offensive line would improve. Imagine how much Beck would improve in offense, the next Warner/Bulger/Grbac/Trent Green? Keep Trent Green as QB coach, and being Saunders as OC, and you basically have the same offense, but better teachers and leaders at the helm. Leaving Parcells, Ireland, and maybe Rex Ryan to look after the defense.

    How's THAT for an idea?

No offense, but i suggest the next time you want people to pay attentio to your posts and not lose them by the end of the 1st paragraph, start with an introduction that isnt calling out the entire Miami dolphins fan base, as you state. Just a little advice

I wouldn't mind Sparano. He seems like he'd be able to bring a disciplined, respectable attitude to this locker room and team. We don't need anymore antics.

Leslie Frazier wouldn't be a bad HC either IMO. He has a solid, successful background.

I'd only care for Bill Cowher, which isn't even a realistic option.

Otherwise, whatever. I trust Bill's decision.

I agree with lbmclean....if Parcells wants Sparano, then I want Sparano.

I just hope he has a fiery attitude that can wake up these lazy giants.

I happen to believe the coach with the better players looks better than the coach with lesser players. There are teams (like ours this year, unfortunately) that no coach could win with, and then there’s the New Englands, that could make any coach look pretty good. If I’m casting a movie I know Jim Bates is the kind of guy I picture in the role. Feisty motivator of really big guys.

I think any first time HC would love to have the Tuna as a boss and mentor

prolly would have done Cam a world of good

I don't know *&% from shinola(whatever that means), but I shot down the Saunders suggestion because of what the league thinks of him.

As Cam showed us, it takes a certain special person to do the job. if Saunders was special, he would have had a shot by now. he may not even want to be a HC, there are people in every industry who would rather be a highly regarded specialist than a manager

conversely Sparano has those skills and it is evident to alot of people

    I half agree.

Of course there are the elite teams in the league that would make most coaches look good, and there are the worst teams that would make a lot of coaches look bad. However in the NFL there are a lot more borderline teams than powerhouses, and on almost any given week the difference in talent can easily be made up by coaching decisions.

Without all of our injuries I really do believe we would have won a handful more games, I mean how many games did we lose by three points? Yes considered a bottomfeeder we were in a bunch of games this year, so obviously the talent level isnt THAT far off if our coaching truely was as horrible as everyone would like to believe.

First off, for everyone who's hoping for Marty Schottenheimer or Bill Cowher, don't hold your breath. Both men have had a taste of the "finer parts of coaching" (i/e -- full control) and are hardly going to want to at this point in their careers take a step backwards and answer to someone else. If they do, it's because of some kind of tie in to a person within the organization they'd be joining. Neither Schott nor Cowher have those such ties to Parcells.

I wouldn't be surprised if Schottenheimer winds up in Baltimore, with his son jumping over and being groomed for the job. He also would have some say in the drafting, and would be able to work with a guy he once called "the smartest player I ever coached", Ozzie Newsome.

As for Cowher, I said when he left Pittsburgh, and futher reiterate-- Cowher's next coaching job will be with the Carolina Panthers after Fox gets axed or leaves. I'm sticking to those guns, although if Atlanta throws enough money/control his way, I could see him ditching the booth and getting back on the sidelines.

It generally seems like there's a contingent of people who will automatically write off going the coordinator route, which is unfortunate because for every Marty Morniingweg/ Cam Cameron, there's two or three Bill Cowhers, Andy Reids and Mike Holmgrens looming in the woodwork.

Hey, Trent Green was going to know how to run Cam’s offense, that is for sure. It was a very bad break for us (and him too) that he went down like that. You have a healthy Ronnie Brown all year, we win every one of those close games. A healthy Zach, Yeramiah Bell and all those guys at full strength and we win a few more games last year. I have no doubt this team as envisioned for last year was expected to be about eight and eight, and it shoulda coulda woulda bla bla. What happened was a disaster. A freak season. I really think we will bring back some healthy guys, young guys, new guys, better guys- AND WIN TEN GAMES NEXT YEAR- WHATTA YA THINK A THAT!!!!!!!!!!

Im going to give you a Thank you. It seems like these fickle fans have become so trigger-happy and indecisive, almost no one can appeal to them. I remember after Wanny everyone wanted someone who could be a head coach regardless of specialty, but had a track record of success unlike Dave, and everyone wanted Saban. I remember after Saban left everyone wanted a coordinator, specifically offensive, and no college coaches should be considered. Now no one wants a coordinator except a flavor of the year type like Garret or McDaniels. Everyone wants a Cower, Shotty, or Parcells type. Tell you the truth, we need someone whos innovative enough to get us to compete in today's NFL.Somply put.My fear wirh PArcells is having crony's running the organization is repeating the mistakes of Wannestedt, putting people you like in administrative positions instead of those who are good at what they do, despite Bill not knowing them. I dont know for sure what Sparano was responsible for in Dallas, but I sure hope it works here.

I'm trying to talk the Captain into trying a slingshot maneuver around the Sun, but with the Warp Core down and Scotty on permanent shore leave in the heavenlies, Spock just won't agree with it. So we can't time warp back to 1972. It's not logical.

i just saw greg williams name mentioned but i hope thats just for dc. a guy i am high on personally that i havent seen mentioned is brian billiack. i live in baltimore and man the guy is a great hc. he had a bad year this year but look at how many injuries they had on the ravens. he kind of got screwed. thats just my personal mention but i would love to see Tony Sparano seems to be a excellent choice.
