    Foster ready to replace Gore

With Frank Gore unlikely to play Sunday in Miami because of his sprained left ankle, Foster is preparing for a significant role in the offense as the primary ball carrier. It will be his first extensive playing time of the season after spot-relieving Gore throughout the first 13 games.

We shall see if this is true or not.

He didn't participate in practice again today so him playing is looking unlikely.

well they said from the beginning that foster would prepare for carries either way.. so i wouldn't take this to mean anything quite yet. but thanks for the heads up FFIC!

This team is full of players "playing for a job" next year. Gore/Foster doesn't matter. Yeah Gore is a beast but Foster is no chump change either. This will be a battle from the get go. We better come out ready to fight.

Do you honestly believe that there is no difference between Gore and Foster? Because Foster is "playing for a job" and thus will give greater effort? C'mon, dude. There is a such thing as "talent". Frank Gore is super-talented. When healthy, he's a top 5-10 RB. Foster could be 100% healthy and 100% motivated and still not equal Frank Gore at 75% health and bored. Foster's no chump, but he ain't Gore.

Frank Gore out would be huge! And we will need all the help we can get. Niners are hot right now. Injuries are part of the game. So heres to Gore resting this week and coming back strong NEXT week!

Gore being out will definitely help, but this is still going to be a tough game.
Martz knows how to use his players and I'm sure he has all kinds of plays set up to maximize Foster's ability. This team is playing very well right now and they just got done making the Jets look really bad last week.
My guess is whoever wins the turnover battle wins the game.

There's a big difference, but if our front 7 doesn't come to play, that difference is trivialized. That's why it doesn't really matter, or shouldn't really matter to our defense. This is the classic case where a team sees the opponents top guy go down, let's up on the gas a bit, and then gets outdone across the LOS where it all starts, and you lose. Plain as that.

I agree, no question Gore is better. The one point I would bring up is it doesn't help our team prep against the run during the week not knowing if they have to face Foster or a bruising runner like gore.

Foster is not a player who should worry anyone. He has carried the ball 37 times for 78 yards this season. Not exactly numbers that worry anyone.

If gore does not go that's huge for Miami let us spy that young QB a little more to see if we can cause the worst game of his pro career.

Foster is a pretty decent back so it doesnt make me feel that much better to be honest.

I don't think the 49ers will be running the ball much.
