Not the prettiest of games, but I'll take it... Sorry the JESTS had to win, but we can control only our own destiny, right?? Joey Porter has 17.5 sacks... life is good!
Like I said in the game thread, we're 9-5 now. We have a winning season. No one can take that away from us. No one saw us in this position at the beginning of the season. I don't even think us as Fins fan REALLY thought it would go this way. I know that the team is not satisfied with just a winning season, they want playoffs. And we as fans want playoffs too. But no matter how these last 2 games go we have had one hell of a season and it bodes well for next season. Doesn't hurt either that we're currently 6-1 against the AFC/NFC West the two weakest divisions in football. Next season will be tougher for sure, but for once in the past, what 6 years, that it's week 15 and we're not even focused on next season yet. We're 7-1 in our last 8 games, we haven't allowed a touchdown in the past 12 quarters and we're playing winning football. It's a good time to be a dolphins fan. It will be even better if we win next week against the Chiefs. Week 17 Fins/Jets for the division? Doesn't get any better than that in my book.
to be honest we have some things to work on but overall i think we'll be fine. Im very happy we pulled it out today, lets see what happens with 2 games left.
That was another ugly win. I'll happily take ugly wins from this team though. This team is scrappy as hell and when you have a roster lacking in so many areas, scrappy is exactly what you need to be. What a pleasant surprise this team is.
I love this line -- "What a pleasant surprise this team is." I couldn't say it any better, Coral Reefer. That sums it up perfectly for me. Thank you!
I'll take ugly wins over the ugly, close loss. We are much better than I had hoped. Both Ricky and Ronnie are playing very good and solid football, especially after last years injuries. Chad P has been a been a great addition and looks like a great leader as well as a great teacher.
We are close to the League's "turnaround record," my friends... we win against KC and the JESTs, and we've got the greatest, single-season turnaround in NFL history. Today, with our ninth win, we tied the record for the greatest 1-15 team turnaround (tied with the 2002 Jets, who went from 1-15 to 9-7 -- by the way their coach was Bill Parcells, and their QB was Chad Pennington). We can do this...
What a difference a year makes. Man, I'm so proud of this team, I can't stand it. They seem to really like each other and play "as" a team. There's no individuals out there. All these close games are killing me tho'. I have a stomach ache every Sunday we play. Can't wait to beat the stinkin' jests. Oh, talk about aches and pains. I'll stock up on Tylenol.
I didn't know that, about Parcells and Pennington, that's interesting. Hopefull they can improve on that 9-7 record they posted last time. I tell you, I hated Chad Pennington for so many years, when he came over I still didn't like him. But he has surely endeared himself to me this year. I have severely underestimated his ability his entire career and I'm glad to be mistaken because we have one of the best QBs in the league right now. Quick note, Brett Favre now leads the league in interceptions with 17. Chad Pennington also leads the league in interceptions, but in the good way.
We can only hope. The cheifs have looked pretty scrappy and have played some decent teams tough lately. Its gunna be tough this week but i think we can pull it out if we play well.
I very proud of this team, was an ugly win, but who cares we are 9-5. If we can win next Sunday, I feel pretty comfortable to play the Jets and beat them!
P.S. If Washington continues to tank the season that's a better 2nd round pick. Good year to be a Dolphin fan AND player. Anyone think J. Taylor is a bit upset?
I can barely put into words what this season has done to me as a fan. By this time last year I would watch the games hoping for a flash of hope, and there wasn't much. Even our sole W over the Dirty Birds was hard to watch.
It's been a long time coming, fellow phins fans -- long overdue, and certainly well-deserved, by both the organization and their die-hard fans. I have had so much fun this season I can barely stand it. I was about to write "this is what football is all about," but I'll qualify that... this is what being a FAN is all about - who appreciates this season more than those of us that have stayed with our team, through thick and thin, suffering through the horrible years but still cheering our boys on each draft day and looking at every opening day as a "new day" and a new season? We have waited a long time for this, friends; let us all thoroughly enjoy and savor every moment of this wonderful season.
