I actually am hoping we loose against KS this weekend, let me explain why. Although we have been playing good football, we are not a great team, and to win five straight games is hard. Also I am a little superstitious, and believe three game winning streaks are about average. But I do believe after a loose to KC will equal a win in NY, and that game is more important. If we win in KC and lose in NY we are out of the playoffs. If we lose in KC and win in NY, not only do we get in the Playoff, but we have our first game home. So basically what I am saying is I would rather win in NY than in KC, if I can't have both.

We can't afford to lose in KC as there are not many scenarios that will get Miami in the playoffs without winning both of the remaining games.

A loss to KC, especially since it's in the same conference will submarine the playoff hopes.

If we were going to lose any game it would have had to be the game yesterday against S.F.

First of all, you are completely neglecting the Patriots. If we lose to KC and beat the Jets while the Patriots mop up their remaining cupcakes they take the division over us.

Second of all, I don't see how anyone could be cheering for a Dolphins loss at this point in the season. I mean seriously, we are 9-5, win and in, and you're cheering for a loss and then hoping someone else loses so we get in? I don't get that. I always thought tanking for draft picks was a bit borderline, but this is a new one to me

No way could I ever hope for a loss.
I don't care what the stats or anything else is.
These guys can do it, if they keep fighting together.

If we lose in Kansas City then we can't get in unless NE gets beat by Buffalo. Not likely, so a loss to KC will almost kill any postseason hopes.

For us, the playoffs are already here. We either win both or we are likely done.

Not necessarily. We'd just need the Ravens to lose their last two which ain't going to happen.

This is really odd circular logic, to me. I want us to lose so we can win later.

I can't do that man, I can't hope for a loss against a Chiefs team that we should beat. Regardless of Karma, or average winning streaks, or anything like that.

I just want us to win and get in, seems to me that's the easier path.

Sorry dude.. no way I agree with this bull.. no way does a Miami Dophin fan wish a loss... we WILL take care of business. If we lose in NY, it will because they played better ball, not because they are seeing ghosts.

I could think of a way: If we were eliminated from the playoffs and a loss would mean that the Patsies wouldn't make the playoffs either, I'd be secretly and with guilty pleasure cheering for the opponent.

I do not follow the logic, if we loose against the Chiefs were in if we beat the Jets...?

Believe me, we will have a tough time going up to KC and winning anyway, let alone winning up in NY.

Did you see what the Chiefs almost did to the Chargers?

The Chargers got lucky with that onside kick.....

    d-1

Ya know, before the season started and the new regime came in here I picked 6-8 wins. I figured that while these three (parcells being the ringleader) might get us enough to get somewhere within that scope. I was hoping it would be towards the bottom of that because I didn't think that we'd have enough to make a serious playoff run (I still don't). We'd get a semi-decent draft pick (and a decent second rounder and with that trade maybe even two decent second rounders). As the poster above me said I started to feel a bit suspect about those thoughts. They just wern't right. Anyway, as the season started getting on and we started winning the games my brain started to change. We've now surpassed what I originally thought was possible for our team. I'm proud to say I was wrong.

Now, I still don't think we have what it takes to be a dominant force in the playoffs. There are teams that we'd have to face (Steelers, etc) that I just have a "we've got a slim to none chance of beating them and slim just left the building" but you know what? Winning like this shows where the team is weak at. It gives Ireland and Parcells (Sparano too) a spot to evaluate. Losing a lot of games means you've got a whole lot to improve on. But if you're close to making the playoffs like this I think it makes the drafting a bit easier.

And we might have a shot at the playoffs! And when you get in the playoffs some weird things can happen! I even said yesterday we'd win the afc east ( :escape: ). So... lose?

    NO!

We might not make the playoffs, and we might not make the big one; but I have officially recanted my hangover from the 1-15 season. **** losing.

Sorry, I just refuse to think these guys can't pull it off.
I've got to stay optimistic about them. They have come so far in such a short time, I'm just gonna' believe in miracles.
I think if they keep sticking together, fight and play with heart, nothing is impossible for them.
I don't think there's anything they could do, at this point, that would make me un-happy with them.
So, Go Dolphins, make believers out of KC, ny and all us fans.

Thats not true, the Jets would HAVE to also lose next week for our Jets Miami game to mean anything... Same thing if NE wins out too.

Well, I don't know about worst thread ever (anyone ever been in the Zoo at the old web site ?? Some of those threads were really dumb....)

Obviously, Dog forgot to consider the Patsies in his process...no big deal, but I'm sure that when he saw the first response by 22, he re-considered his theory...

At any rate, this is not the time to think about losing to put and edge on a game...after all, if a team can't get up to play any game for the division title, they don't deserve to be in that position anyway...

But the fact for us is that we pretty much have to win out to get in the playoffs....miracles can happen, but losing to KC effectively puts us out in the cold, unless we get several favors from the football Gods...

How about we start putting in a go for the throat offense and win handedly before we face the Jest's. I would rather see that. We build up some confidence and really whip the rivals and win the division.

I like your optimism, but if we beat the Jets, it's pretty damn far from being considered a miracle.

This is the same team that only beat us by a hail mary in Week 1, and that was our first game with new players and staff together.

Dolphin fans don't hope for losses. Ever. Well, with the exception of all those nuts who would prefer 1-15 seasons to a 10-6 season. Anyway back to the topic, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you were three sheets to the wind when you crafted this thread.

    Straighten up and fly right!

I have respect for you posting this because you knew what kind of response you'd get. Despite that, I don't agree with the thinking. After all these years losing, including fifteen loses in one season - last year - , I don't hope for one loss. Quite tired of losing to be honest and I rather win out and cement a spot in the playoffs like that. Also, I have to ask, how many teams do you know that are great at the moment? I don't see one out there, I see a couple good teams but this year seems to be wide open.

I kinda somewhat get your logic but we have a small chance at a wild card also and losing to KC would all but kill that.
