I still gotta say I loved the re-make, I understand your position on why you didn't like it.

Halloween is one of my favorite movies. The re-make was was probably the most disappointed I have ever left a movie theater. You are right, it can't get any worse.

The remake was god awful. I didn't WANT to sympathize with Michael Meyers. The way Zombie made it, you kinda felt for the guy.

MUCH scarier when he was like he was for no reason whatsoever.

Wow what a joke. Someone will probably perform voodoo on Meyers or something to bring him back.

O well, at least Loomis still around... o yea. Way to set yourself up for another failure Zombie.

Nail on the head. I expected more from Zombie. Maybe not a lot more, but I found myself actually LAUGHING at certain parts of the movie. Like the kid walking down the hall, stalking his sister, with a mask on that was as big as he is.

You just can't beat the original. Like you said Pagan, he was scarier when there was no explanation - he just WAS. The other thing I hated was that everything on screen was (almost) from Myers point of view. It took away any possibility of tension or scares. There was no on the edge of your seat tension whatsoever. Major disappointment. Not that I expected them to exceed the original by any means, but the audience deserved a much better movie.

My final question is: Could Zombie really have looked at the finished product and thought to himself, "MAN, this is kick ***!"

Which is exactly why Zombie's version never should have been made.

You can't improve on perfection....so why try?

It's like Coldplay recording their version of "Dark Side of the Moon."

I know what he did...but by doing that he took away the most frightening thing about the character.

In the original when Loomis says that "what was behind those eyes was pure evil", that's what made him terrifying. There was no reason he was like that, no motive. That in itself is the most terrifying thing. Like in the new movie "The Strangers". There was no motive.

    Horrifying.

But seeing him abused as a child, and tormented....now you have a reason he's like that, and it waters the horror down.

He took a classic horror film and cut its nuts off.

Roebuck and Harris Officially Returning to Haddonfield

    For those who care:

We broke the news a few weeks ago that Danielle Harris was in talks to return as Annie Brackett in Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN sequel H2. We received confirmation today that Harris has officially signed on to return. In addition, we learned that Daniel Roebuck will also be returning to Haddonfield as Lou Martini.

FS, we knew she'd be back. I just hope she lasts through the movie. I'd hate to see her come back for just a quick death scene. Maybe she'll end up being Laurie's side kick in stopping him. Then again, that would be straying FAR from the original.
