This may not deserve its own thread, if it doesnt I apologize, but how in gods name does Joe Thomas and Jason Peters get selected over Jake Long... I really am at an empasse to this question. As far as I know, Peters has been just horrible this year, and Joe Thomas hasnt impressed me enough to be considered. Perhaps I am being biased, I really do not think I am, but IMVHO Long truly deserved it over those two jokers... Not to mention Thomas starting over Roos?!?!?!?!?!? Some of these pro bowl selections are really becoming the equivalent of what we all see on Dirty Jobs.. Perhaps Mike Rowe can do a show about the NFL
what i find kind of funny is that nobody cares to watch the pro bowl, but get up in arms about who makes it. but i agree, 2 guys were robbed. maybe voters were stuck in 2007??
I'd trade a trip to playoffs for a Pro Bowl. Anyone else? Not rippin you Dolpns,..........just saying in general.
Thats what I have been thinking. the Jets can have their 7 pro bowl players. We will take the division and a home playoff game.
Nono, i dont take it as a rip, however the NFL should... I dont know where it lost its integrity, but remember years ago, it was fun to watch, it used to actually mean you were a good player if you were voted, not a popular player. Now, its a laughing stock
Well, I'm not 100 percent sure he got hosed. He sure had a good season and might have deserved it but he still might get in.
it doesnt tick my off in terms of the pro bowl essentially, but in terms of simply common sense and justification. it ticks me off, so bad, that the front offices have allowed this league to give support to people and players who clearly do not deserve it over those that do.. Another example is Pacman Jones, he has made the NFL and especially Roger Goddell his *****. To me its all on the same level
It's been this way for over 20 years.Players get voted in by how they played the year before. So Long should be in next year even if plays like A$$ ie Jason Peters. Just like JT making it last year when never should of.It swings both ways.
totally agree with that one... so Joe Thomas made it last year because he played great in college... jk.. sorry, but I had to I remember it being more justified then
If a vet gets in just because he's a vet I find it wrong. Look at these stats. Stewart Bradley 96 80 16 1 1 Quintin Mikell 82 58 24 2 2 Trent Cole 69 55 14 8 2 Brian Dawkins 65 54 11 2 4 and tell me why Cole, Mikell & Bradley are missing from the pro bowl when Dawkins made it.
Let's not forget Long didn't have a very Pro Bowl start to the year. After Pats game " 3rd game " is when he started playing like a Pro Bowler.before then he looked more like some 3rd round pick we put at LT.
The ProBowl has been made into a joke, Phillip Rivers has played better than Manning and Favre and Pennington has played better than Favre. Now that Tom Brady is hurt and not eligible the league has made Favre the poster boy for the AFC
Lol.. I wonder how many times Mariuchi voted for Favre... Probably as many times as he fantasizes about sleeping with him? Can anyone count to infinity?
whos the Ratriots third stringer, he must have gotten a vote, same as brooks bollinger... and Jonathon Vilma as a Jet just by association...
J. Peters over Big Jake and Clady is a joke. Even Joe Thomas wasn't as good as Jake or Clady this year. But as we all know. We shouldn't put too much stock into this. I mean, Favre made it over Chad (who is statistically better in almost every single category besides TD passes) and Rivers (who is also statiscally better in almost every category). And I love the guy and all, but Ronnie Brown did not deserve to be selected.
Cassell>Farve but Penny over both. I dont see how anyone can argue against Peyton though, he has been really good and pretty much carried this team through their rough stretch by himself, after having some nasty knee surgery and dealing with all the Marvin Harrison issues. Rivers has had a decent season, but his team is terrible, not sure if he should make it. Manning/Penny/either Cutler or Rivers. Favre is just a laugher and the biggest transgression of the selection.
That's okay. Joey porter come the pro bowl will just go "**** you jo bu, I do it myself". And he'll sack the entire NFC offense.
I LOVE watching the Pro-Bowl... I don't know what someone was saying that for? Always fun! Remember watching Ricky run people over to the MVP and new Cadillac?
This really dosen't concern me in the least. The way I see it is it's one less bargaining chip for his agent to put on the talbe as he haggles to get an extra million out of the PHins when we attempt to resign him down the road. Long's a rookie. He'll have plenty of time to prove he's worthy of a Pro Bowl trip. I'd rather have him humble and hungry going into his 2nd year.
i thought Long had a better year than what even we as fans have given him, but remember the vote is about split between the fans, players and coaches, with the coaches votes carrying a little more weight... I don't have a problem with Thomas, he's a been there, done that LT and Peters probably got a lot of votes early in the year when he was doing very well...(that's just a guess though)...at any rate, I'd have actually thought Long would have made it before even Brown. Keep in mind as well, that many analysts have been saying that Denver's rookie Clady has played as well or better than Long...and he didn't get in either ?? Maybe it's a rookie thing...
I don't know about that. Favre has turned the Jets around preety quiKCly. I know you guys don't like the Jets, but Favre has made them into the PaKCers of the AFC!! And I totally agree that Long should be in the Pro Bowl. (I also wish Long was a Chief)
