So this year we lost to them and last year we beat them. My question is

If you could pick which year we beat Baltimore would you pick

    2008 or 2007

The 2007 win kept us from becoming the first team to go 0-16
The 2008 win would have us 10-4 and almost guarantees us a playoff berth this year

    I choose 2007 as 0-16 is forever

PS: If someone smarter than me could post a poll it would be much appreciated

I'd pick this year. Had we won that game, we'd all but have clinched a playoff spot already.

I don't care about 0-16. The Lions will do that this year, and if they're good within the next 3 years, it will be a long, distant memory.

    Interesting question.

If we had gone 0-16, I'd never hear the end of it as long as I live.

We still might make the playoffs this year, with or without the Baltimore game. Ask me again on December 29.

Don't know about that. We still talk about the 72 Dolphins and the 07 Dolphins would join that conversation

Of course Detroit doing it this year would have taken some of the sting away

    Ya see, I disagree here.

You would've heard the end of it the second the Dolphins become respectable again (which, in this case, was only 9 months later). I'd take 9 months of torture for a spot in the playoffs..

And the few stupid people that would keep belittling a fan of a 9-5 team because they went 0-16 last year would lose all credibility.

last year, 10-4 does not gaurantee us a playoff spot and we might still make it in without that win. also, im proud of the progress of this team, playoffs or not. and im a little nervous of the playoffs to be honest, aside of beating the broncos, i dont see us winning the superbowl.

But nobody really talks about the Tampa Bay Bucs anymore because of their 0-14 season.

They've been consistently good in this decade and that's all people care about.

People care and talk about good teams. People don't care about bad teams. Nobody, besides Lions fans, really care that they're going 0-16. I know I don't.

EXAMPLE: The coverage of the Pats 18-0 run vs. The coverage of Detroits 0-16 run. BIG DIFFERENCE. The Lions get almost 0 coverage, whereas you couldn't turn on the tv and not hear Tom Brady last year

i actually disagree with you. if the jets had gone 0-16 ever. i would use that against them every chance i got. there would be nothing they could do short of the superbowl that would stop me. especially when comparing the legacy of a franchise.

Last year by a MILE. I believe the Lions will actually pull it off, and even if they don't, I don't want to hear us used in punchline jokes for eternity. 0-16 would have SUCKED. You'd hear it nonstop.

This year? We lost to them, but who cares, we control our destiny. Win these 2 and that loss doesn't matter.

    Not even close for me.

VERY interesting thread. I like it.

0-16 would be very hard to deal with. I'll take last years win but ONLY because I believe we can win the division as we are right now.

Last year. Having the perfect season is enough, we shouldn't be greedy and wish for the imperfect one as well. We'll still make the playoffs after the Seahawks upset the Pats this Sunday and we beat the Jets week 17.

If we make playoffs then its a moot point, if we don't I would expect that my answer would be a win this year instead of last year. Interesting, thought provoking topic.

Keep 0-16 as far as away as possible.....

We control our destiny this year vs. KC and JETS thats good enough for me.

Im with you, 0-16 would have been so much worse. Beside when you go and change the past it changes the present.. no telling where we'd be now. :P
The fact that we're still going to make the playoffs this year, as we will win the next two games also persuades me to take last years win. ;)

Last year, definitely. Since I live in Baltimore, I can continue to hold that over Ravens fans heads as long as I am here. Anytime any of them talk any smack, all I have to say is "We were 1-15, and who was that 1 against? Thankyoubye."

I am happy we beat them last year to keep from maybe going 0-16.

We still are in it this year and control our destiny. Hopefully the Ravens will lose this weekend and next, so we may have more than one way to make the playoffs.

    This isn't true at all.

THe Bucs still are best known for being the only winless team in NFL history.
Their Super Bowl win dosen't erase that or diminish the embarrassment of such ineptitude in the least.

This organization has been to successful and to proud to have suffered such a blow as 0-16. THat win was HUGE. Much more important than if they had won this year. It's not like that loss to Baltimore this year is taking a championship away from us either.

Without a doubt, it has to be 2007.

We can come back from the stench of 1-15. Other teams have done that before. I have no idea what things would have been like had we gone 0-16.

Guess we'll have to ask Lions fans about that in a couple of weeks.

That 1 win in 2007 was so sweet and was so wanted. Watching Camarillo run into the endzone in overtime was one of the greatest things I've ever seen as a Dolphin fan. The release that was felt from that 1 victory was overwhelming.

I'll take 2007's win over Baltimore.

The Bucs are brought up all the time when they talk about bad teams

Also didn't the Bucs tie a game

    I would take this year.

We still had the bengals in week 17 last year. We had NE in 16 but I don't think we had what it took last year to beat them. The bengals I would've taken a shot at.

But to get a win in a winning season that wouldn't make these last two games so very crucial and frustrating is an easy pick for me.

If people bug me about 0-16 at least I can refer to 17-0.

if we were 10-4 right now that wouldn't guarantee anything, because we'd still have to beat the Jets the last game of the season (unless the jets lose this week)...

so i'll keep it on last year... all we have to do is keep winning and we'll be in the playoffs anyway

We'd have the tiebreaker over Baltimore and we'd be 1 game ahead of them, which means they'd have almost no shot of making the playoffs over us.

    Good question.
I'll take last year's win, no doubt.

1-15 is a bad year, to be forgotten.
0-16 is a historicly bad year, that would be referenced to forever. :pity:
Our proud franchise doesn't need a PERMANENT BLACK EYE like that in our history. :pity:

Missing the playoffs this year (if that happens) is a bummer, but this year is still a positive year REGARDLESS.

Give me the playoffs this year based on beating KC and Jets, and I will gladly take another shot at Ravens in our house 1 more time.

No way would I give up last years W vs. them. 1-15 was painful, but necessary to get this franchise back on track.....0-16 would have been a far deeper pain.

Definitely last years win. You said it perfectly in that 0-16 is forever.

But then again, going 17-0 and 0-16 would make us even more famous in a light that I'd never want to think about.
