There is nothing to fear about Brett Favre who outside of Reggie Bush and Antonio Cromartie may be the most overrated player in the league.
Since Holmgren left, Favre has lost more playoffs games (five) than he’s won (three). He’s thrown more postseason interceptions (16) than touchdowns (14). These are the things Chris Berman won’t tell you. The last time the Pats relied on Favre to win a game at the Meadowlands on the final weekend of the season it was 2002, and we all know how that turned out. It was a huge game for Favre and the Packers at the time, who would have received a first-round bye with a win over the Jets. Instead, they didn’t show up in a 42-17 defeat. The next week Favre threw two interceptions in a home wild-card loss to Mike Vick and the Atlanta Falcons. How come that game never ends up on the endless Favre highlight reel? And, to be fair, Favre hasn’t failed in EVERY big game the last decade. Just most of them.
I'm not particularly worried about Favre. It's 'possible' that he could put up a great game but several other players are more likely threats to us. I'm more worried about Thomas Jones or Jenkins having big games.
he is clearly old and not the same anymore, but Favre is always Favre, you gotta respect him and play up to your best to beat him. When was our last pick 6? This is a good time to get another one.
I'm more concerned about the Jets running game than Favre really. Just the Jets in general. I can't imagine they won't play better than they have in recent weeks. I just don't see them laying another egg in this game. I am confident Miami will be prepared, I just hope it's enough.
He has had plenty of terrible, terrible big games in recent history. In fact to my recollection, he's had more disappointing BIG games than good ones. Am I afraid of Favre? haha, No. I'm actually more nervous about the Dolphins shooting themselves in the foot or digging their own grave so to speak(read: choking). That may have more to do with living through past Dolphin debacles though. That scares me and so does the phins Rush D.
I think Favre has lost some of his magic, but you never know when he can muster it back up. You always gotta be afraid of a guy like him. I know a lot of you guys say you're not nervous about this game, but I sure am. Because as much as I hate them (and it's a lot), the Jets are capable of playing outstanding football at times. See the games in New England and Tennessee. Do I think we're gonna win? Absolutely. But I'm not taking them lightly.
There's no doubt that I'm nervous about the game but it's really not because of Favre. The Favre magic is overrated hype IMO, especially post-Holmgren.
All of the Favre "magic" is created by ESPN and when people start looking at his stats in big games and how unsuccessful he has been post-Holmgren people will realize how much of a farce Favre being clutch has been.
I'm nervous but I'm not scared. The nervous part is that the Jets DO have some playmakers on both sides of the ball and if their defense shows up to play and play well, well it could be hard to score. That and the fact that it's the last game, and against a division rival makes it all the more nerves/anxious.....
