and we will... I cried after that damn pats game. I weeped for a good hour, and couldnt get my head out of my rear for a whole week after. that game had a devastating effect on me. I still have nightmares about fletcher and wanny in that game. Anyone care to share there story of that game and how it affected them and what you did?

Thanks for reminding me. Losing that game was like a punch in the gut and I too cried after losing that game.

I don't blame the Pats. I blame Ray Lucas. When Mare kicked the OT kickoff out of bounds I slammed the TV and walked away as I already knew the outcome.... Ranks in my top 3 worst Dolphins memories....

I have a picture in my living room of me and my 2boys(ages 2 and newborn at the time ) with my brother and his son who was 3, all decked out in Dolphin gear minutes before the kickoff of that game. I look at that picture EVERY day and that feeling of nausea still comes back to me. One of the most devastating loses in recent memory(Some on this board do not remember 94 Chargers..82 Chargers..81 Jets..).
I stare at that pic knowing that one day I will feel the depths of joy that will equal the depths of despair I felt that day.

That game, the 94 Chargers playoff game, and the 99 playoff game against Jax are the worst Dolphins memories I have. I was disgusted for a long time after that one.

Instead of hitting the TV after Mare kicked the ball out of bounds I hit our coffee table with my hand and had to wear it in a sling for about 2 weeks before the swelling went down. LOL! Not a pleasant memory for me either.

The game against Jax didnt bother me too much being that we were out of it really fast. The heartbreaking last second ones are what sting...

The only nightmare that still reoccurs for me from that game is watching Derrick Rodgers try to cover Kevin Faulk.

No matter what, even when I've seen both Ronnie and Ricky make good plays on similar passes like that this year; I always think back to Derrick Rodgers.

Besides getting blasted watching Marino out there was just plain painful. It started 7 years of some of the worst Quarterbacking in the modern era. Thank You Chad Pennington.

That whole season was hard to swallow. Remember how much we were rolling after we went to Denver on Sunday Night in that back and forth game and won on a Mare FG? We were 5-1 and on top of the league. And then we found out that Fiedler suffered an injury in the Denver game after bringing us down the field for the winning FG. Lucas started the next week against Buffalo and started off hot in that game and we all thought we were gonna be fine...and then he, and we, faded REALLY fast.

Damn, I thought we were gonna win it all that season. It still hurts to think about it to this day.

Gah that game was awful. I just remember my mom, who knows nothing about football, asking why they didnt just keep handing off to that Williams guy who was playing so well.
That about summed up the Wanny (and lets not forget Norv) era.

Hopefully this game turns out much better! GO PHINS!

94 was a stinger, but there was still hope for "next year". 2002 doesn't even come close, at least in my opinion. We missed the playoffs but it was still a regular season game, and it certainly wasn't a funeral atmosphere like the 2000 playoff game against the Jags.

Like any tragic event, I remember where I was and what I was doing in that playoff game. Most of us pretty much knew it was Marino's last shot. I swear, I can almost remember that game play by play. We were down 24-0 in the 1st Quarter but I still had visions of some miracle come back. I remember in visual detail Marino completing a TD to Gadsen to end the half, hoping it would not be his last. We were down 41-7. Then Marino got benched, and we all knew it was over, and that this was Marino's last game as a Dolphin and how he would go out. It was one of the few times in my adult life I cried, and I have no shame in admitting it. 2002 and 94 just do not compare to that debacle.

That's the exact same time I turned that ****er off as well. Of course I turned it right back on, but still, I knew it was over. Guys, we (as Dolphins fans) so deserve this week to go down perfectly.

Well, there was spitting, cursing (a nice barrage of 4-letter words, used quite imaginativley, I might add), I think I kicked a wall etc... The next week was kind of blurry, I've blocked out most of the pain since then. There's an image of Bruschi that I can't shake though, it still haunts me at times :mindwarp:

Lets try and build some positive memories this year with our golden opportunity :knucks:

I went for a long walk after we lost to both the Vikings and the Pats.

On a brighter note, I vividly remember jumping up and down with my friends in my apt after Mare hit the game winner in Denver....little did we know about Fiedler's finger.

The Vikings game hurt that year as well. That was the infamous "play clock" game where Culpepper took the snap after the clock was at zero for a solid 2 seconds and threw a TD to Moss.

The Pats game was an abomination. To dominate them through 3 and 3/4 quarters only to see Wanny piss it away was horrifying.

Funny story about Mark Royals and that 14 yard punt, his wife actually ordered from my company some months back and I told her I remembered her husband as the Dolphins Punter. She said to this day (they live in Tampa) people still give him a hard time for that punt

Run Ricky Run!!!!! Then when the game is almost won, pass fielder fail!!!! All three phases of our team collapse simultaneously to blow an 11 point lead. I wanted to die!!! But more importantly, I wanted Wannstedt to die!!!

Yeah that stupid "lobster trap" game haunts me just as much as the Pats game. If we would have won either of those last 2 games we were in the playoffs, and in good shape.

Yeah that game was pretty bad, but so was Dan Marino's final game (a 61-7 loss to Jax), and also the 1982? Chargers-Phins OT loss, not to mention the 1974 Sea of Hand's loss to the Raiders. All of them traumatized me, but then I think about great memories, winning back-to-back SB's, Dan's fake spike win over the Jets, the 1986 victory over the unbeaten Chicago Bears....it all kind of evens out.

IIRC, going into those last 2 games, Dolphins were AFC's 1st seed. Now I don't remember if it was '02 or '03, but I recall needing a win against the Pats late in the season and having the refs serve up to the Pats an extremely questionable PI call against Jamar Fletcher at the end of the game around the 5 yard line....that got me pretty steamed because it was pretty ticky tack. In all the years Ive been watching the Dolphins, I don't remember Miami getting favorable "interpretive" calls in late season/playoff games...thats what gets me the most over the last 30 or so years.
