Parcells was said to like the play of Chatman, plus we got Lobo. My question is do you think we might trade Ronnie Brown down the road to accumulate more first day picks in order to draft more quality linemen or other defensive players to turn the team around quicker? Since the trenches and defense are usually the foundation to a good team. Basically a scenario similar to how the Bills traded Mcgahee to the Ravens. Plus we could always draft another Rb later down the road like they did once we got our lines and defense dialed in.Plus Ithink Ronnie's contract is up in the next couple of years and he will most likely be in a postion for big money.Iwould like to also add I like Brown and I'm not questioning his ability to play the game, leading the league in rushing before the injury, however I do feel there is a blueprint for reconstructing a team and Parcells also mentioned starting from the inside and working out similar to what Cam said..Do you think it could happen ? Would you be opposed to it?

No. He's a BP sort of guy, runs hard between tackles, can break off a med-long run, catches well, and takes care of the rock. I don't see it happening, mainly because of the injury lowering his value.

    no.

Ronnie Brown is far and away our best offensive player, and probably close to the best on the team. He's still young and early signs point to him having a fabulous recovery from the surgery.

Plus Ronnie Brown is a great pass blocker.

Nothing would surprise me, but I don't see it happening. The only concern Bill would have with Brown is durability. And that same concern that Bill may have may also be a detterent for a trade. Brown is exactly the type of back Parcells covets. So I can't imagine a scenario where Ronnie Brown could be traded. Unless someone makes an offer he couldn't refuse. But running backs are not as hard to come by as they used to be, so someone giving up a high pick for him is very unlikely.

I don't think some fans realize how good Ronnie was, and hopefully, will be. He was the WHOLE package, please somebody name me another NFL back that is so good at EVERYTHING!
He was a real bruiser, ran GREAT between the tackles, was a real outside threat also with his speed, was one of, if not the best, short yardage back in the league- look at his short yardage conversion stats. He was a terrific at catching the ball out of the backfield, he could play fullback, finished of runs like a beast, and took pride in his pass blocking.
Please- somebody, before you go of and say he was okay, give me one back that was as good as him in all areas- just one.
I felt physically ill when he was hurt-I only hope and pray he will come back strong, and maybe this year we will have a coach that will be smart enough to not have him returning kicks.

Yeah, and Chatman is also about 10 notches below Ronnie Brown's caliber.

There's a difference between a guy capable of leading one of the league's most talented positions statistically, and a guy who is at best an above average backup.

NO...we don't trade RB....not at this time. I just hope he recovers fully from his ACL...the good thing is we have a few extra clubs in the bag (Ricky, LoBo, and Chatman) in case Ronnie needs a while to recover. I think we are set at the running back spot for now.

i've got no problem with jesse snackman as a backup, and i love what lo book brings to the table, but in ronnie you have a potential top 5 player at his position (when healthy). i believe in the NFL everyone is in play for the right offer, but what would the offer need to be to even consider dealing ronnie (and no, the presence of jchat or lobook would have zero to do with the equation)?

Boy, I saw him whiff on blocks plenty of times. Brown is a much better blocker.

Hell No! Ronnie Brown is a complete back! he can pass block/ he can catch/ He can pound the rock and get like 5 yards a carry. He also made our oline look just as good as they made him look. Ricky Williams/Lorenzo Booker/ Samkon Gado is the perfect complement to Ronnie Brown. No way in hell we should overpaid for Jesse Chatman.

He should have used his vaunted, "spin" move and spun into his blocks. He did that so well when spinning into defenders while he was running, why couldnt he succeed at that while pass blocking...

Could it? Sure. If Parcells and Ireland get an offer they would be moronic to refuse, they'd trade Ronnie. However, I don't see one of those deals coming down the pike anytime soon.

Oh Crap! Why don't we just trade everyone off the team for draft picks. Then we could field a complete college team in 08. Great idea.

Ronne Brown was our #2 pick and so far has proven to warrant that pick. You build around him, not without him.

Simply put, throw Parcels and Ireland a Herchel Walker type trade, and RB is on the bus before they can finish the trade scenario, if not, no way you get rid of Ronnie, he is too great a talent.

Hate to be the guy that qoutes Parcells on this one but I gotta, "You keep the good players you have and you try to get more."
I know he wasn't talking about RB when he said it, but that certainly seems to fit this situation.

As a 1-15 team, we shouldn't trade away our best offensive player. But it's up to the parcells.

yea thats for sure. I can't rem which playoff game i was watching this past weekend but when i saw the guy go up and hit the LB and the lb just slightly got pushed back I rem thinking wow thats where RB would lay the guy out. I mean RB knocked ROY WILLIAMS out on a Blitz. that man is one hell of a damn pass blocker (RB).

There should be no thought of trading Ronnie in the mind of Tuna or else we have a bad VP in the office. He was the best runningback in the league this year before his injury. Chatmann doesnt make the plays that Ronnie can. Lobook looked good, but not Ronnie good.

But I think you can apply this to any player and in this instance Ronnie Brown.

No way does he consider trading his #2 draft pick and best offensive weapon , a guy that fits perfectly into his system.

if we are stuck with the 1st pick and Mcfadden is the best sure thing then I say take McFadden trade Brown for a 1st rounder if we can because while brown is a good back he is injury prone so those are good reasons for Brown to go. I really like Brown but I really
think he works best in a 2 back set becasue injury bug issue. Like everone else points out though its tough to have so much money tied up in one position. Maybe trade Brown to the Cowboys and pick up aneeded OT.

Yeah when Brown went down that was probably our defining moment for the past season. You are also right in that people seem to be forgetting just how well he was doing
Brown's #s last year for anyone interested

Why would you trade away a guy going into only his fourth season with the talent of Ronnie Brown? You work to get guys like that on your team, not trade them away. There's no way this would ever happen.

    1. Ronnie Brown is not injury prone

    2. The Cowboys have absolutely no need for another RB, Barber is a top RB in this league

    3. Ronnie is a proven back, while McFadden is an unproven back. Sure he has alot of hype (mostly from fans and ESPN) but so did Reggie Bush. How did that turn out for the Saints?

    a) McFadden is not a sure thing
    b) Brown excelled this year, IN A ONE-BACK SET
    c) Why would the Cowboys trade for Brown? They already have a Pro Bowl running back and another starting-caliber guy as well?

I was looking at it this way, right now we have a superstar running back in Brown with a mediocre O-line & D-line and a need for alot of other positions on defense. IMO I feel we would have a better chance at winning more games if we had superstar O-line & D-line and defense and a mediocre RB. If we could get some picks for Brown we could filll more postions with quality picks and would be able put our money into the line rather than into a runningback.Of course ultimately, you want superstars in all those spots I just feel a runningback should be added after lines are solid and Ilike to put defense ahead of offense and you also have to take into account the salary cap which acclerates things causing us to have to get the pieces in place faster. To summarize having just a superstar running back and a crappy team or just a superstar wide receiver on a crappy team isn't going to take you very far., yeah they are important postions but they are more complimentary postions rather than foundation pieces if I had a choice I would add them last rather than first.

i dont see this happening. first off ronnie has a big contract now as it is. i dont see us trading him off for a few first round picks or anything of that nature. i think ronnie and booker are the future at tailback for this team. with ricky either as an option, or trade bait. OR... if we can switch booker into a welker type role, then split carries with ronnie and ricky again... look out. however, fromw hat we saw of booker at the end of the season, booker may be well served as an HB... nevermind receiver.. its going to be interesting thats for sure.
