http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3186942 I think they would've been better off signing Cameron. The 49ers lack the quality receivers needed to run Martz offense. I can also imagine him not utilizing Frank Gore to his full potential.
Well buh bye Frank Gore, it was nice knowing you. This was a strange hire IMO. I just don't see Alex Smith being able to run Martz pass happy offense with an aging DJax as his deep threat. Cameron would have been a much better fit having Gore and Davis at TE.
Thats what i'm thinking. With a te like Davis and a good power run game Cameron was set up in a perfect scenario if only they'd hired him. Cameron was already used to not having high quality receivers from his gig here and in San Diego. Bringing Martz in puzzles me. He's too stubborn to change his philosophies and and his pass happy offense won't do well in San Francisco. Who knows, maybe they're planning to trade for Chad Johnson or Roy Williams.
Martz has developed Qbs wherever he's been, can't see why this move is heavily questioned here. This is a move to develop Smith and get something back on their huge investment in him. Good move.
Alex Smith better get ready to get his *** kicked. He'll develop and have a good year....if he stays in one piece behind Martz's "protection" schemes.
Well then, I wish the best for Alex and his development with little to no ground game to help him out.
He has Gore and really its never hurt the other Qbs Martz has had. Smith is going to have to learn how to take a hit though, Martz's protection schemes are somewhat lacking....
