Bell Tolls: No playoffs with 10 wins? Someone's going home - USATODAY.com

Rookie watch: Davone Bess. A season-ending knee injury to the team's leading receiver, Greg Camarillo, thrust the undrafted wideout from Hawaii into the starting lineup. Bess has started the past five games, and produced 29 of his 48 catches during that span. Among AFC rookie receivers, only Denver's Eddie Royal (80 receptions) has been more productive than Bess, who was groomed in a pro-style scheme in college. Given Miami's creativity with its Wildcat formation, there seems to be potential for Bess' role to expand. He played some quarterback at Skyline High in Oakland.

Skyline is a rough school. I drive by it sometimes for work and I still lock my doors. Some of their freshmen are bigger than me.

    Ted Ginn COLLEGE
Was a three-year letterman at Ohio State (2004-06) who entered the draft with one year of eligibility still remaining ... Started 31 of the 37 games in which he appeared during his career ... Amassed 135 receptions for 1,943 yards and 15 touchdowns, while also rushing for 213 yards and three touchdowns on 28 attempts ... Recorded a career-high 59 receptions, totaling 781 yards and nine TDs, in his final season of 2006 when he led the team in receiving ... Also threw a 38-yard TD pass to Rory Nicol against Indiana – the same game in which he hauled in a 31-yard TD from Troy Smith ...

    I wasn't talking about college.

I meant in high school. Bess is referenced in the article in high school as a QB, I was using the same stage of life as to pose a query as to whether or not Ginn had been a QB. I know he was a DB in high school too.

No Ginn was a stud CB back in the day, and just played "some" Wr....that is why I feel his cieling is so high he has only really been a Wr for 4 seasons of his life.

I thought I'd heard that Ginn played CB and QB in high school too actually, guess maybe I'm wrong.

Edit: Actually I was right. This old article from Scout.com has him listed as a CB/QB recruit, and it talks a little about him on the offensive side of the ball.

I would love to see some Ginn & Bess action involved in the wildcat. Both have their strengths, Teddy can stretch the field threatening for a "home run" long play, while plays to Bess we could take advantage of how easily he finds creases. Ginn is most likely far more effective on the end-around/reverses though.
