Merged; Interesting post on a Jets site...

Discussion in 'AFC East Rivals' started by PhinsFanWife, Dec 27, 2008.

  1. Don't know if it's kosher to paste a post in here or not -- if not, mods, please remove, and my apologies. I am not noting the site nor the poster's name:

    ******

Chad gave his all for this team. Then when we finally went out and picked the Free Agent market we dumped him on his a$$ for a washed up 39 year old. You can bet the entire country is pulling for Penny.

If the Patriots win and the Ravens are blowing out the Jags you can bet Ill be rooting for Penny as well. It kills me to say that but I think the Favre move was not well thought out and if we lose sunday it may be the dagger for Mangini and about 90 % of his staff.

Favre is not a NYJ HOF'er he is a GB HOFer as I told my wife I feel at timeslike the Jets are not the Jets with Favre at the helm. Its just a feeling. Its not the same Im sorry.

I know alot were down on the team last year, but, honestly were we so mean about it, as some of the jest posts?
I either can't remember or don't want to.
They just seem to hate their team now.

  3. I've seen similar sentiments in some of the NY papers. I think a lot of people up there are PO'd about the way that Pennington was treated.

  4. While a lot on the Jets boards are "bashing" Penny, I thought this one is probably a more accurate view on how the majority feels -- they just don't want to admit it.

I just loved reading Penny getting his respect, both from his "ex-fans" and from the NY media. Well deserved...

Hey PFW. Understandably the Jet fans are upset because of the acquisition of Favre and the fact that he hasn't played very well recently. From the news reports up here, they're also upset that "he seems to be hiding something wrong in his throwing arm" whatever that means. They're also angry because we're 10 and 5 and they're 9 and 6 as far as records are concerned. Also alot of them are angry about the way Chad was treated in NY. Chad is, as far as I'm concerned, as humble as they come. I was not pleased with the acquisition initially but am thrilled now. And there's no problem with this being posted here since we're playing them tomorrow. My best Christmas gift on the planet would be to beat them tomorrow.

  6. Hi! Thanks for your post -- I think this "mysterious arm" story is nonsense. It will be a convenient "excuse" if they lose, and a plus in his "hero column" if they win with his "injury." I give it absolutely no credence whatsoever.

I cannot recall wanting anything more than this win tomorrow - it would be absolutely incredible, and I'm just looking now at the clock, which is showing 4:15pm.... 24 hours until kickoff, everyone!!!!

Nice - 24 hours till I can go knock on the Jets fan across the streets door and say boo ya. Just kidding. I don't how credible this story is about his arm - it may very well be a smokescreen. Like I told hubby, our season has already been a "cinderella" season this year as opposed to last year. Even if we don't win, we have nothing to be upset about, IMO. From 1 and 15 to 10 and 5 in one season? The Jests fans and everyone else have to give us our props. Looking forward to bigger and better things from this team in the future. Let's go Dolphins! Give us this W tomorrow baby!

  9. Another post -- this one responding to a "Chad is not that good" topic on a Jets site:

    ******

Like I've said before, it feels like some of our fans hate Chad Pennington for no rational reason - perhaps it's because of his weak arm, which helps them voice their own insecurities about some physical shortcoming.

All I know is that, while Pennington is certainly not a great QB by any stretch, the guy was healthy for 3 seasons with the Jets, and the Jets made the playoffs in each of those seasons. Meanwhile we missed the playoffs every season he wasn't healthy. And now, amazingly, here are the Dolphins on the cusp of a playoff berth, in yet another season where Chad was healthy. Must be some unbelievable coincidence since, you know, Chad is "not that good."

There are a number of members on their sites that are still Penny fans!!

MY opinion from lurking in the Jets fan sites, is the following...

Now there have been a lot of Favre fans (Packers ) that added themselves to the Jets fan family, but these are just Brett fans and really hold no alligience to the Jets...

So on to the real Jet fans...

Over 95% of them don't care about Chad one iota, they are blind followers of the green... They are arrogant, show no lack of respect nor repentance for anything that has transpired til now...

If the Jets would have already clinched the Division, they woulld be happy to say that getting rid of Chad was the right thing, but not in a nice way (if you know what I mean)...

Only a few of them feel for Chad and the way he was treated last summer...and from that bunch, IMO, only a few wish him well this weekend...

I would say 99% of them are still Jets fans first...

I think a lot of the Jets fans are extremely frustrated, and understandably, about what's happened this year. I know some may not admit it, but deep down inside they wish they still had Chad on their team. Now, he is part of the Dolphins, and deep down it bothers them even more that he has a chance to get his revenge by winning the AFC East for the Dolphins in the Jets' own house.

Jeez, I want to win this game SO BAD...I can't wait 'til tomorrow!

  12. Look at it this way -- our QB has played more games in their building than their own QB!

PFH and I are at our wits ends here tonight.... come on, clock...tick, tock...

  20. I'm telling you guys, this experience has truly shown me what a tremendous group of people we have here. I'm from New Jersey, I know the "reputation" of the NY fans (and have witnessed it first-hand), but I thought I'd see what the other "side" is saying. I was upfront and open -- posting a "First-Time Visitor" thread, and boy they did their best to let me have it. I think I held my own, never lowered myself to their standards, frankly, and have chalked it up to overall an unpleasant experience.

Honestly, I was more than shocked at how their own members address one another and how rude they are (although not all of them, I must admit) to the opposition. Their members spend more time bashing each other and "their" team; I wonder how they truly have time to appreciate the actual game at all.

The family at thephins.com has spoiled me, and thank God for it!

Here's to a great game tomorrow, everyone -- PFH and I are watching the Dolphins/Jets replay of Game 7 this year on NFL Network. Can we please retire Brett once and for all???

  21. OOPS... I tried, John.... I might have gotten a little "revved" up at times, but I think I behaved myself???? :)

the reason Jest fans don't like us is because they are not good enough to be Dolphins fans.:wink2:

  23. I just noticed that I still had the Jets' site up on another screen, so I went on to exit, and saw my last "greeting" that basically said "f*@#!!" you.

    What a lovely bunch... :)

Don't even worry about their fans. They're just pissed because every team in New York sucks. We WILL have the last laugh. 34-13 Dolphins.

  26. Oh, trust me, Conuficus -- it was hard, I have to admit, to bite my tongue at times. As I said, I'm from NJ and have seen/heard a lot, but I refused to stoop to their pond-scum level and challenge them by using anything more than their four-letter word limit.

"Inappropriate" is the nicest word I can find right now to summarize their behavior, which again brings me to say THANK YOU to everyone on this wonderful site. It's good to be home!!!

Now let's kick some major butt tomorrow at the Meadowlands!!!

that's actually a great way to put it. Pennington is appreciated and wanted in Miami. It's no secret in my eyes that when you welcome players and give them your support even in the toughest of times, they will play their butts off for you.

    what do you expect dude?

-They play in a stadium named after another team.
-That stadium isn't even located in the state in which they name their team.
-Their the same color scheme as Hess Trucks.
-Their not even the best team in their own stadium.
-They haven't won a meaningful game since 1969
-Their team made a trade for a fading legend and in doing so let the guy whose been starting for them walk away to a division rival, almost instantly handing that rival the missing piece to their puzzle.

So of course they have to walk around with an overwhelming sense of accomplishment. (or else, you know, they have to watch their team play football instead)

Win or lose tonight, we're still not jets fans.

I also beleive as most of will agree, the Chad has to prove something to himself first and foremost...after his last shoulder surgery..

He has to prove that he capable of taking a team to the Post Season and wants the league to know that...

That he would do it at the expense of the team that drafted him and played all those years for and let him go as if he were washed up and done...

its the icing on the cake...
