Hello Fin fans, I just wanted to share a small anecdote with you guys. I've never been big on autographs or memorabilia. I do own a couple of Dolphins jerseys, t-shirts, stickers, and hats. Anyhow, everyone at work knows I absolutely love the Dolphins. Our data guy did the nicest thing anyone could have ever done for me -- Fin gear wise. His aunt and uncle put together events through out the country for various clients, usually for corporate events with keynote speakers. Well, I haven't seen him since the holiday break at work, and normally work from home, but he asked me to come in Monday because he had a surprise for me...Oh boy..So apparently his uncle put together an event right around the Pats vs Giants games and the Don was a keynote speaker somewhere (I haven't gotten the full details yet), his uncle told my data guy that the Don was the keynote speaker for the event, so his uncle scored an autographed mini Dolphins Football by the Don.. Signed to me, with Don Shula H.O.F 97... This was better than all the presents combined that I got for X-Mas..I can't stop smiling. I'm also half drunk so I apologize if this is not a coherent post. 20 years of being a Dolfan finally gives me something in return
Thanks, fellas! It truly means more to me than anything I could ever get. Watching that man my entire childhood work his genius from the sidelines was a real treat, this is just the icing on the cake. Now, if I could just get my Marino rookie card signed...
I remember when I was a kid, I'd send letters to players addressed to the OrangeBowl. Marino sent me back a very nice, yet pre-signed photo and pre-typed letter. Hell thats what the President does if you write the White house...a very nice gesture from Dan and the team though. Shipping of course isn't free, so it was a generous gesture. But I sent Offerdahl a letter and enclosed his rookie card, and he autographed it for me, and mailed it back(in the plastic). That was hella cool.
I've been tempted to send Marino my rookie card, but I'm afraid I wont get it back.. I paid a whopping $23 for it.
Sweet Congratz man. Reminds me of When I met Shula. It was I think 1991 season? A dolphin home game against the oliers. I used to work for a year or two at the domino's Pizza at dolphins stadium We used to get finished just after halftime clean up whould be done and I could watch almost 1/2 of the games free. After the game I decided to look around and was going up an elevator to the office level. Who pops in the elevator? Don Shula!! I asked if I could shake his hand and get an autograph. Of course he said Yes! I was like awesome yeeeaaaaa buddy, woot
Good for you. That's great. To get "The" mans autograph is an honor. Just to meet him would be an honor for me, he's my hero. Enjoy!!!
that's funny. I just forged a Don Shula mini football a couple of weeks ago.... just kidding - congrats man! that's a good part to any collection.
thats awesome bro congrats. get this, i will give you an autograph ISN'T THAT GREAT?!?!?!? obviously a joke
congrats, I thought this was a tread about Don Shula being happy over the Cam firing and Hire of Bill Parcells.. I dunno why I just did!
i've met shula a few times, but never in a situation where i felt comfortable asking for an autograph
Shula is a great guy...he signs for everybody. ...he will actually strike up conversations about football if you start it with a smart question.
