They just had Rachel Nichols from the Meadowlands. She said the Jets are very motivated today because Coach Mangini got a hold of a pre-printed tshirt that says Miami Dolphins 2008 AFC East Division Champions. In the team meeting today, he held it up and said "do you want them celebrating in these on our field tonight?" I'd say that's some scary motivation right there.

  2. No worries.... if their players need a T-shirt waived in their faces to get motivated, they've got more problems than I thought.

    GO DOLPHINS!

I normally don't like giving the other team any ammunition at all..yet..at this point..If the jets need a t-shirt to motivate them after all that has transpired..they are in worse shape than I thought.

I'd say counter that by showing them the the AFC East Championship shirt the Pats will be wearing if the Jets win.

These shirts are always premade like this. If the Jets players just suddenly realized this they are idiots and I'm not worried about them winning anyway.

After the game, Mangini can take that shirt and hang it on his wall in memory of his last loss in his first and only head coaching gig.

    Wish I did.

Hopefully, we'll have our chance tomorrow. And I know that these are all made in advance - it just scares me, that's all. We can't take this team too lightly.

    :knucks:

The plans are already made, the last thing that was an unknown was the weather, and that broke in our favor, we will be playing a spring football game, the Pats will be playing in a freezing hurricane.

Now we just have to play the game and see what happens...our guys have been playing well, we could have easily lost last weekend in the extreme cold, instead we scored more points then we have all season, and keep in mind, we manhandled the Broncos, the Broncos blew out the Jets.

  12. PFH just made a very good point....

Why didn't Mangini hold up 2008 AFC East Division Champs T-shirts with the JETS logo on it? Wouldnt that be a little more motivational?

Mangina is not the world's greatest motivator of men. Sounds like something Wanny would do.

You think Thomas Jones is gonna run a little more hard because of a t-shirt? Puh-leeze!

  14. Oh, I agree with you 100% on all three of your points :knucks:

You have a very wise phinsfanhusband. That would seem to me to be a better motivator to a team. I don't know - I guess it's just the rivalry. I wonder how Mangini got his hands on one.

They were just doing a segment on whether they would trust Favre or Pennington in this game a minute ago. They almost unanimously picked Pennington, the holdout, you guessed it, Chris Berman.

This could go one way or the other. Favre is going to try and go out with a bang, which either means lots of mistakes or a lot of big plays.

Favre is 39 and did not condition himself well enough for this season. If he tries to do too much it probably won't end well for the Jets.

The unit that is playing the best right now is our Secondary...so that gives me some confidence.

Sure, the problem was LJ had over 100 yds, and LeCharles had over 100 yds, the Chiefs were running the ball down inside the 20...they weren't giving up long passing plays.

Agreed. Sure they gave up a couple of catches but they were mostly 7 yard routes to Tony Gonzalez. Also that one big play down the sideline, somehow the ref failed to realize that the WR never had controll of the ball and was bobbling it around all the way until he dropped it out of bounds.

Goodman played GREAT last week, and aside from Will Allen slipping a few times they were very solid. They tackled poorly, but so did the line and linebackers.

80 or more of that was on a single screen to LeCharles, the one where Y Bell caught him from behind.

And don't forget, the last two games have ended with Interceptions by our Db's.

I have to say if the Jets need to be motivated for this game that would be pathetic. I mean how could you need more motivation for a game than its essentially a playoff game and the same thing should be said for the Fins. Both these teams should lay it all on the field today. It just may be the Pats game and Ravens score may take more wind out of the Jets sails than the Fins.

We all know this game will be another nail bitter and will probably cause a few heart attacks.

    Well away from here
The Jets ordered shirts for the winners of the AFC East. The guy at the factory figured we'd win and thus out our name on them. How else would you cover up your latest ****up? :whistling:

Thats why Mangini is a terrible coach. Berman was the only one on the Sunday Countdown crew to pick Favre and the Jets, he has a strong dislike for Miami.

I saw that too. The guy just showed why he doesn't have a clue about football. All of the former players/coaches pointed out the stats, the trends, and every possible reason why they picked Pennington, and Boomer the stupid average NFL fan that he is just seems to think that Favre will pull a rabbit out of his *** in his final game. Just like every average fan they don't realize how Favre has **** the bed in the final weeks of the season the last few years.

Most of that came in the first half, and a large chunk of it (75 yards) came on a little dump off pattern to Charles in the flats. It wasn't like the Chiefs were going bombs away on us, though they tried. Keep in mind we only allowed 3 points in the second half of that game, and Andre Goodman had 2 interceptions and 5 pass deflections to lead the way.

I'd be more inclined to say we missed Channing Crowder - a lot - because we gave up tons of yards in the run game that forced the secondary to creep up into the line of scrimmage, which plays perfecting into the spread offense that Kansas City runs.

We'll see. I just can't say I'm confident in our secondary with Will Allen hurting and the way we've been dismantled by good passing games. Granted, the Jets haven't looked good the past 4 weeks.. but they have a potentially dangerous passing game without a doubt.

They are a division rival and the playoffs are on the line, if we take them to lightly we didn't deserve to win IMO.
