Mangina gets canned Hahahaha, bretty's not coming back either, so we did him in too. And the big one.. WE are the AFC East Champions. Three strikes and the Jets are out!

I put this in the Miami Dolphins forum because the Dolphins did them in... woot!!

When I heard about it, I was upset to be honest. I want to see us beat them with him on board. If Cowher comes in, it makes it more difficult.

What also came to my mind is their new head coach, the philosophy and the scheme(s). When the new coach comes in, they usually come in with a new plan and their own way of doing things. The Jets spent a lot of money this past off-season on several players that paid off for the most part and now with a new coach, those mega-money players may not fit what they're doing. If that does happen, their tied in with the big bucked players and may be stuck with playing guys out of place. Just a thought.

From Mangenius to Mangina in a couple of seasons...

I must admit, I will always have a special place in my heart for Mangini. He did after all, point out to the world what kind of cheating douche bag old Belicheat is.

well, it prolly would have been better for us if he stayed.. but I am just SO proud of the damage we inflicted. Alen, Cowher says he is not coaching next year "anywhere".

That's interesting. I still could see them going after Marty Schottenheimer but from what I know, Schottenheimer wants to be a GM, possibly in Cleveland. In the end, I still have those questions that I said in my first post.

I feel genuinely sorry for the guy. Tannenbaum ought to have been fired today, not Mangini. Not that I have anything against the Jets in disarray but I also have a sense of justice and it's a screwed justice in New York.

Whomever they bring in, the first task should be to fire Tennenbaum(sp?) It's ridiculous that he sits there at the press conference acting like he didn't have a hand in their teams failures. Mangini didn't waste millions on expensive free agents who didn't pan out. Mangini didn't sign Favre. Mangini didn't pick a bench warmer with the 4th overall pick in the draft. He seems like such a meathead. I guess it's part of the process and the coach is always the one to take the brunt of the blame.

9 wins after going 4-12 the year before, being force-fed a huge array of highly expensive veterans bringing with them some very skewed expectations and being subject to a boneheaded GM allowing your QB to sign with a division rival and knocking you out for good ... oh yeah, ouch.

I certainly won't argue that he's a HoF HC but I also don't think he's particularly responsible for the fiasco that was their season ending. Brett Favre was.

Guys, once again THE MIAMI DOLPHINS DID NOT DO THE JETS IN!

Mangini was going to get fired whether he won yesterday or not. After going 8-3 and missing the playoffs, he was toast. The FO spent alot of money this year only to have the talent wasted by poor coaching and poor game planning.

Mangini was a stupid hire to start with. it was done to try and "be the Patriots" and it failed.

Bottom line is the loss yesterday may have accelerated the firing, but it was going to happen before the Super Bowl any way.

Holmgren said he wanted to take a year off and come back in 2010. Still, that would be a good move for the JEST if they were able to pull that off.

    Bonehead GM?

That bonehead drafted Brick, Mangold, Leon Washington, Revis, Harris, Keller, Rhodes and Chansi Stuckey.

He brought in FAs like Faneca, Pace, Woody, Thomas Jones, Jenkins, etc..

With that much talent the blame clearly lies on the HC

Favre throwing 9 interceptions and only 2 TD's in last 5 games didnt exactly help either did it? Favre was bad in those games and IMO Mangini lost his job partially due to Favres performances later in the season.

Dude, every paper in NYC has speculated mangini was gone after the loss to Denver.

And the playoffs mean nothing when you are 1 and done. And that is exactly what would have happened to the Jets had they made it yesterday.

He was gone even if they beat us, Mangini and Woody don't get along, Mangini undressed Farve in the locker room and now they didn't get along.

Mangini lost the team, he was gone, we just helped speed it up.

But now I think they will bring in Marty ball and that will make for some battles in the future.

Favre did not opt to kick a field goal vs Seattle from the 1 yard line. Favre did not opt against a 47 yard field goal at Seattle and punt the ball. Favre did not abandon the run game when you have 2 explosive RBS. Favre did not neglect Leon Washington game after game. Yes, his poor play did not help, but ultimately poor play calling and being outcoached is what destroyed the Jets.

Even a blind squirrel can find a nut. Not saying I know anything about the Jets failure but from what I've read, most fans don't like the GM because of things like the Gholston pick, dumping Chad for Brett, etc..

None of which would've mattered the least bit - as far as the Jets making the playoffs goes - if Favre didn't stink to high heaven for the last five weeks.

He also drafted Vernon Gholston, and cut Chad Pennington for an aging hired gun named Brett Favre, so it's not like he's got the most spotless record.

Yesterday the high priced Calvin Pace was a complete non-factor, and Kris Jenkins really looked like he wore down at the end of the season.

I hope you're right though, because Favre won't be on the team next year and all the FA moves have the team heading towards cap purgatory. You will need a good GM to guide you through some rough waters in the upcoming years.

He riped him apart a few weeks ago in front of the team, and while I can understand it, you don't do that to someone of Farve's stature, you do it in the office. That lost the team.

Also when he said last week that he was giving the Jets off two days for Christmas because he prepared for the Fins last week (When they should have been preparing for the Seahawks), that insured he was gone.

He was forced to go after Favre. The owner has a new stadium and PSLs to sell. He thought bringing in Brett would help soften the blow.

Well, everyone misses once in a while and the Favre move was praised as pure genius when it happened. What makes him a boneheaded GM is not keeping Chad around for another week, waiting for someone to offer a late round pick (a couple of teams were interested) and make darn sure he stayed the heck out of the division.

    Pro Bowl doesn't mean jack.

I'm happy with the last 3 drafts we've had. Look where it's gotten us. Can't say the same about the Jets draft. How's your #1 pick doing?

Dropping Pennington for Farve was obviously a horrible decision. Unless your Bob Costas.

I duno who made that decision but it was clearly a desperation move. Such as paying a ton for Faneca and Pace. Pace is a very good player, but throwing him that much money while he was still unproven was a desperate move.

Farve's turnovers killed you. You can't expect the offense to even have a chance when your QB makes throws like he did yesterday. Somehow I don't think Mangini wanted Farve to attempt that pass that resulted in Goodman's first pick yesterday. Mangini- "Why would he do that?"

That's tough to take, when you've got an owner who values money over wins and character.

I'll be shocked if Favre is back next year ... will that affect the ticket revenue he's counting on?
