The only ones worthy of the 1st pick is Dorsey, Long, and McFatty and we dont need McFatty so I dont care who we take whether is dorsey or long...

Ultimately I hope to god we can trade down* because not 1 player in this draft is worth 40 mil garuanteed

I don't see a draft with only two defensive players taken, especially after last year.

 

Glenn Dorsey makes sense to me.
I think we were ranked 30th against the run this season.

 

It really depends upon Free Agent signings. To early to say one way of the other as to our draft focus.

Any scenario that DOESNT have us picking up a stud Linebacker is suicide. You think just by picking Dorsey our defense is gonna be able to stop the run?

 

Guys, Our defense was HORRIBLE last year. I could very well see that being our entire draft. Bottom line is in today's nfl you NEED to have a solid offense. NO matter HOW good your defense is. Bc the rules are swayed towards offense and like we used to find out... if your offense sucks your d will get tired by the end of the game anyway. I think offense is a LOT harder to build. Get a great offense and then build the D. Look at what Indy did. Look at NE this year (D is ok, but that o...)

Get one or two great players on D (Dorsey and a CB) and I think that will help the D immensely and allow us to continue to build the offense.

 

Realistically in FA and the draft we need to acquire....

offense - a veteran qb, a te, an OT (either left moving Carey back to right or a right) 2 guards, and a wr with size.

defense - 2 DT (yes we need 2), DE, OLB, ILB, CB,

We need a LOT of help.

 

D-line is really important, If Running backs our getting to the linebackers(that means your running game suck.) Thats means their in the 4-5 yard a carry zone. A line backer needs DL in front of him to help him start the run.

 

NIce, but RB's were averaging more than just 4-5 yards a game..and guess what, as much as I LOVE Dorsey (In a manley football type of way) he isnt gonna stop that alone.

I like Dorsey, and I think without any doubt, we pick up a STUD lb in the second round.

 

I actually think we go lb at our 2nd 2 rounder or in the third even. We can pick up some good talent there like J. Lehman, Goff, or Beau Bell.

 

The run defense will take an immediate leap forward, yes.

 

I am a HUGE advocate of Dorsey, and I think we Will take him...but, he is 303 playing DT in a 4-3..He is gonna probably project to DE in parnsips grand scheme, and unless he has help behind him he isnt going to be able to single-handedly stop the run.

I say that if Dan Connor or Crable are there at 32, they will also be wearing Orange and Aqua.

 

Simply put, ronnie has played 3 seasons and has managed to play all 16 games 0 times. Regardless of how good he can play in 7 the NFL plays 16 games and more if you do well. There is nothing good about a back that can't make it the entire season. Do you see any of our other backs as talented enough to keep our team on a playoff run when ronnie goes down on the 10-13th game of ever season?

Regardless of how many RBs you have its always good to have more. It is not a problem to have 2 1st tier rbs, especially when 1 has proven he cant carry the load for the entire season. If we cant trade the pick and we dont plan on picking up kevin smith then Mcfadden has my 1st vote.

I personally haven't seen much of his play so i can't judge this. That being said the Tuna knows how to pick up linemen better than most. If he gets picked I assume that Bill gave approval and that will be good enough for me. This is also a position that can be and i think should be filled through FA

You are sold on a QB that is older than many of the vets? I'm not sold on anyone after 1 year. At this point if he were a normal NFL QB he would have 3 years of practice under his belt. I think Beck is a good man for following his faith the way he did but it does not make him an nfl QB. He is going to be 30 soon, a time when he should be entering the prime of his career and he will still be learning how to be an nfl qb. We need a #1 round qb eventually, picking the OPA (oldest pick available) was another cameron mistake and its time you people see it.

I dint see much double teaming during the championship game. I saw a short slow player get blocked effectively by 1 man. I saw him jump on the ball carrier a few times after he had already been tackled. believe me the announcers wanted to call his name but didn't. Just because the press builds you up doesn't mean you are what they say you are.

If you use the #1 pick overall on a player with a history of injuries it will bite you in the end.

 

Wow this single paragraph invalidates your entire post. Dorsey short? Dorsey slow? Dorsey dominated by one man? Are you positive you watched the game of American football where the LSU Tigers played the Ohio State Buckeyes? Were you doing it with your eyes open?

Dorsey was only single blocked about a handful of times in the entire game. After the first two drives Dorsey was a non stop presence in the backfield...just because he wasn't the one making the tackles doesn't mean he wasn't making plays. Wells was constantly altering his running because of penetration by Dorsey and yes Dorsey had a sack as well on a play where his QUICK burst took him by his initial blocker as well as a player who was supposed to provide help.

Good God! Dorsey, Connor, and Beau Bell? Well our run defense would be fixed big time. I think we end up grabbin either Rogers Cromartie or Fred Davis in there somewhere.

Frankly, I think it's Chris Long at the moment, barely, over Dorsey. I think Long fits the defense a little bit better, that's it. Both are amazing and high character too. I

After that, free agency is really going to impact what we do in rounds 2 or 3. I don't think we should go after any of the high priced free agents. I think Corey Williams the DT from Green Bay (a versatile guy that can play nose) ought to be the top target (if available) since he is young and has lots of good games under his belt. Bryant Johnson, I think, is the right kind of complement to Ginn running fly routes all day.

That gives us room for two things, not have to WR early (it's a weak class) and be able to focus instead on CB (it's a deep class). Why pay a guy 80 million when you can get a CB in the 2nd who would normally go in the first?

No, re-read what I said. I am saying we pick up 1 (one) (Singular) linebacker either with the 2a or 2b...Ultimately would probably be Davis with the 2a and either Crable or Lehman with the 2b...or even Cromartie with the 2b and perhaps Bell with the 3-1..that would also work for me

 

If we end up drafting J. Leman, it better not be before the 6th round. He's got nice size and instincts, but that's about where it ends. Not only does he lack straight line speed, but he also lacks quickness and has trouble shedding blockers. He seems more like a backup/special teamer to me.

I mustve missed something cause I see a "Gimmick" back that runs very upright and is going to get pulverized at the next level. I just dont think he is going to be nearly as affective in the pros.

Keep in mind, I was expecting Adrian Peterson Part II cause that was the hype I was reading in here.. What I saw was more like Adrian Peterson Part III (Right behind the Bears AP)...

 

Long is my choice obviously. I've had the pleaure to watch this kid play throughout his college career being from VA, he will be a defensive captain and enforcer in this league no doubt whatsoever. I may be biased, but I want that kind of drive, talent, and heart on this team. BTW I'm not taking away anything at all from Dorsey, I just prefer Chris. Either way we can't go wrong between the two, so I will of course support our FO's decision.
