With the great season we've had so far, we did it with an absolute team effort. But there's always a few players who stand out as being exceptional at what they do to make great things happen for their team. Who's the guy you would elect as the Miami Dolphins MVP of 2008? By NO means does a selection take away from anybody else's performance on the team.

    Please discuss.

Personally, I'd elect Ronnie Brown. That guy is a multiplayer. With the Wildcat offense, he's done so much to make things happen, and coming off a season ending injury from last year, he's improved 110%. His running ability and the way he works his way around opposing team's defense's, and then play quarterback is amazing to me. To me Ronnie Brown is a team player through and through, I'm so glad we drafted him.

Too many to choose from. I feel like there are a lot of clutch players on this team that really come through when necessary.

Fasano, Ginn, Camarillo, Pennington, Porter, Bell, Goody, Etc...

Well, while Chad Penny had a unbelieveable season for us and certainly could be my choice, I tip my hat for safety Y. Bell. I think Bell played well in every game we played and he made as many crucial plays as well as consistent play as anyone on the team. Bell had so many clutch plays, 1-2 in every game to end a series or scoring threat that I just couldnt say anyone else. Our QB would be a close second for me, as his ability to run the offense impressed me and surprised me. I think Bell's effort defensive backfield however was the best I've seen in many, many years as a Dolfan and he's never anything but positive as a leader on the team.

Chad P. did an outstanding job, and everybody knows that Joey Porter is the man, but I think my 2nd choice would be Channing Crowder. You can see the big difference in the Kansas City game that he didn't play in, with the one against the Jets. Granted it was -12 degrees, but he definitely showed his worth in the last game. I really hope he gets a contract to stay on for the next few years.

Your own team mates commented mid season about Chad and how much of a leader role he assumed and that's what they needed.

Your entire season does belong to the team as a whole for so many plays over the season, but Pennington really deserves your admiration and team leader game ball.

What an impressive year for the Dolphins.

THis year's miami dolphins was a team effort, i know it is supposed to be a player but i truely believe it was a team that found success.

Coach Sparano gets my vote. He brought this team together and got the most out of so many players.

I can't remember how many years have gone by where I've said "If only we had a Qb who doesn't turn the ball over twice a game on average. Then and only then will we see what the Miami Dolphins are capable of."

Along comes Pennington, and we're 11-5. Sure the offense gets a little boring and a little safe on 3rd downs from time to time, but theres no denying that pennington is the reason this team is a playoff team this year.

The only other guy i'd consider...Jake Long. Not kidding. The mans impact from a talent level to a confidence level is immeasurable.

Believe it or not, when I watched J-Allen during warm ups two weeks ago, he was leading most of the special teamers in warm ups. Could eventually be our version of Keith Davis in the special teams if he takes a pay cut... Sure, isn't worth a #1 pick, but what do ya do...

Pennington is the biggest single difference maker on the team.

Ronnie Brown gets kudos for being the triggerman for the Wildcat, and Joey Porter is, statistically, the best performer on our defence. W. Allen and Goodman as starting corners are probably our biggest overachievers. Jake Long has been outstanding as a rookie left tackle. Despite all of these contributions, and others I have neglected to mention, Chad Pennington is the guy who has been the glue that's held the offense together, and without him I can't see us being 8-8 let alone AFC east champions.

I think this team was balanced during much of the later part of the season and punctuated with many stars such as Fasano, Polite, Camarillo, Brown, Williams, Penny, Peezy, Crowder, etc but if I had to pick just one player, I would have to choose Pennington.

Without Pennington but with all the rest of the players I mentioned, we would have been hard pressed to win 6-8 games IMO. Pennington was the player who was most responsible for the confidence we showed on offense. He led by example and his work ethic was contagious and that showed in how well this team was prepared, especially late in season when many teams were wearing down.

A lot of praise to go around for this team, but Pennington is the guy who week in week out has made things happen. It seems that everyone else on offense has been taking turns being the star. One week it's Ronnie, another week Camarillo, another week Ricky, Bess, Ginn etc. etc. Same on defense. Porter played out of his skin for most of the season but as teams started keying in on him somebody different would step up. Will Allen, Yeremiah Bell, Goodman, Anderson, and Merling last week.

But every week, teams dared Chad Pennington to beat them. And it seems like just about every week he did. Chad was the one constant star on this team. His effort this season was unbelievable. As somebody already mentioned, anybody who doesn't think Chad Pennington is this team's MVP is either just plain wrong, or mistakenly picking their favorite player instead of the Dolphins MVP. A mistake that happens all too often in these types of threads.

Has to be. Though we have great players on our team, IMO, he's the single reason our season turned around the way it did. Leader of the team, leader of the offense. Hands down - but again, that's jmho.

Penny is my pick also. He brings so much more to the table than just being our QB. His leadership, without question, is the glue that has held this team together. I am truly amazed everytime I look at this guy and thank the lord that the Jets, of all teams, threw him out like a sack of garbage. What WERE they THINKING! FANTASTIC!

    Top 12:
    1) Wayne - without him landing Tuna is a no go!
    2) Parcells - his connections got us Jeff and Tony and some FA players
    3) Ireland - he brought over great staff and FO guys
    4) Sparano - Perfect guy has that OL mentality for goals and finishing jobs
    5) Rest of Staff - unsung heros
    6) Chad - he doesnt come here without those ahead of him on this list
    7) Porter - used 2008 to prove he still is a difference maker
    8) Ronnie - coming off that injury, the fact he is on this list amazes me
    9) Jake - protecting the blind side made a huge difference and will for years to come
10 Rest of Defense - With Hill and Bell, the whole D found its footing
    11) Rest of Offense - 3 TEs, 3 WRs (plus lets not forget the London catch vs. Jets), 3 RBs and highly consistent OL play
    12) Special Teams in JETS game - field position, tackling, key FG, and huge blocked punt! Without that it could have been a different story.

I would have to go with Chad Pennington, with Ronnie Brown and Joey Porter bringing up a close second. Ronnie is a great player, but Chad has brought the leadership and work ethic that was needed by a team sorely lacking in both. Without Chad I would only give us between 5-7 wins. I am not sure how many wins we would have got without Ronnie, but I just think that Chad gives us that extra edge and calmness in the tight situations.

I see that a large majority of people picked Chad for a Phins MVP, and he's done an outstanding job as qb. As much as I love Favre for what he's done in his career, it's ridiculous that he got elected to the Pro Bowl, and Chad did not. He earned a spot for sure. He hasn't had outstanding numbers, but he's had total consistency, and won games to prove his worth. IMO, Chad should be at the Pro Bowl in Hawaii this year.:knucks:

This has truly been a team effort to turn this team into an 11-5 Division Champion and a playoff team from a team in shambles and one game away from being the first 0-16 team in NFL history.
An MVP (most valuable player), is chosen from the players on the field without consideration for coaches and management even though they certainly deserve plenty of praise for what they have accomplished this year.
Its just my opinion but no one player has meant as much to this teams turnaround than Chad Pennington. His play and leadership has been something that has been seriously lacking in Miami for a long time. His leadership has inspired both the offense and the defense. This is the first season in a long, long time that we have approached the end of a season without huge question marks and doubts about our quarterback position.
I truly believe Pennington should be our team MVP and should get consideration for league MVP but thats JMO.
