Knowing Parcells, this draft order is subject to change whenever he feels like it. And now onto the mock.

    Round 1, pick 1:

Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville – I’m not a big proponent of drafting DT’s 1st overall (remember the last one, Dan Wilkinson?). DT’s taken in the top 5 since 1992 have not lived up to their draft slot compared to other players. Plus, our last DL coach did a poor job with our current youngsters. So enter this bold pick. Yes, we have Beck but keep in mind his age. He’s older than Ben Roethlisberger and will be 28-29 before he can make any kind of impact. Yes, you can’t really look at what Beck’s done as a determiner but it shows just how much he needs to improve and father time is not on his side. And you can't guarantee Parcells wouldn't want to install his own project rather than inherit someone else's. Brohm’s got the tools, age, and mind to be a franchise QB. He has great size, arm, intangibles, work-ethic, pocket presence, and field vision. What he lacks is mobility and durability. There are some questions because of the system he ran in but I think he can get over it and unlike Beck, has ample time to do so. I give him the edge over Ryan in that he doesn’t turn it over as much and his potential is higher.
Alternatives: Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College (Similar to Brohm with more intangibles but less of an arm and more turnover prone. Safer pick but lower ceiling); Chris Long (An absolute devastator with great pedigree and someone we could groom under JT)
Best Case Scenario NFL Comparison: Carson Palmer.

    Round 2, Pick 1:

Adarius Bowman, WR, Oklahoma State – A nice big 6’4 WR with decent speed (~4.53) who has consistently produced this year barring his injury. He could’ve gone 1st round had he not suffered an injury or had a few character issues (well, few top WR’s come problem-free). This pick essentially is a 1st rounder though since Patsies forfeit theirs. His return from injury and 40 time will determine his status overall. We need a WR of his type to outleap defenders and use his length to give his QB a better target. It’s why guys like Braylon Edwards, Randy Moss, TO, and Plaxico Burress have found success. Of the top 10 in receiving yards for a WR this year, 6 are at least 6’3 and of the top 10 in TD’s, 7 are 6’3 and up.
Alternatives: Malcolm Kelly, WR, Oklahoma (Has the tools but can disappear at times); James Hardy, WR, Indiana (Insane size); Antoine Cason, CB, Arizona (if he falls in the Combine due to speed); Terry Porter, CB, Indiana (Great speed and ability to get the ball)
Best Case Scenario NFL Comparison: Terrell Owens.

    Round 2, Pick 24:

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, CB, Tennessee State – Excellent size and speed. Cousin of Antonio, who is similarly sized and equally a monster in the secondary. Teams really try to avoid him and for good reason. He’s consistent, has great ball skills, and can be really physical. I think he could drop to the 2nd round. He really needs to bulk up and comes from a Division I-AA school so lack of top competition so that'll create questions. But he has the tools and mind to succeed in the NFL. Our team really needs a young CB to eventually replace Will “Hands of Stone” Allen. This is a draft with a lot of great CB prospects and DRC has the highest potential of them all.
    Alternatives: Frank Okam, DT, Texas (Good sized DT); Terrell Thomas, CB, USC (Cason-lite); Charles Godfrey, CB, Iowa (good sized CB), Justin King, CB, Penn State (raw but potential abound); Leodis McKelvin, CB, Troy (little known school but smart and able player); Limas Sweed, WR, Texas (Good size but a bit slow);
Best Case Scenario NFL Comparison: Antonio Cromartie.

    Round 3, Pick 1:

Martin Rucker, TE, Missouri - David Martin has been ineffective and inconsistent (His replacement in GB is faring quite better). Peelle has been good at times but is more of a blocker and a fine backup TE. What we need, and what every young QB needs (or most QBs for that matter), is a receiving TE who can act as a safety valve, big threat, and endzone go-to guy. Rucker has ideal size, great hands, and wonderful speed who worked well in a system that utilized the TE. He will get knocks for his blocking though he has improved there. Him or another quality TE should be available here.
Alternatives: John Carlson, TE, Notre Dame (Wasn’t as productive but still decent); Fred Davis, TE, USC (Good potential but hasn’t shown consistency), Ben Moffitt, ILB, South Florida (has everything you look for in a LB but would likely rise); Red Bryant, DT, Texas A&M (another widebody)
Best Case Scenario NFL Comparison: Alge Crumpler

    Round 4, Pick 1:

Bruce Davis, DE/OLB, UCLA – A homer pick for me. Teams will knock him for his size and that would be a big mistake. Just ask the QB’s who have eaten turf served by Davis. Bruuuuuuuce will get to the QB one way or the other. He emulates JT and considers him his idol. So why not let him be JT’s understudy? If you see him play, you’d think JT himself was donning that #44 jersey. Heck, squint and they look like long-lost brothers. He’s a fierce competitor with lots of leadership and energy. Like Taylor, can be versatile, speedy, will not back down, can get teammates and fans pumped up, gives 110%, and performs better than his physical attributes would suggest. Backs up his brash talk with big play. Has great pedigree too (Father was 11 year vet as OT for Raiders/Oilers).
Alternatives: Geoff Schwartz, OT, Oregon (has blocked well and a sleeper OT); Frank Morton, DT, Tulane (great size and pretty good at getting to QB)
Best Case Scenario NFL Comparison: Jason Taylor

    Round 5, Pick 1:

Traded to Kansas City for QB Concussion Green.

    Round 6, Pick 1:

Shannon Tevaga, OG, UCLA - This is somewhat wishful thinking. Tevaga could’ve been a 3rd rounder easily had it not been for an injury and so-so performance this year by the offense. He’ll likely be overlooked since our offense was putrid in more ways than one. But this guy is the ideal Houck OG. Mobile, strong, tough, and most importantly, Samoan.
Alternatives: Curtis Gatewood, OLB, Vanderbilt (can really get to the QB)
Best Case Scenario NFL Comparison: Chris Kemoeatu

    Round 7, Pick 1:

Mike Klinkenborg, ILB, Iowa – An okay ILB but a solid leader with decent specs. Lacks a bit in coverage but can make the tackles. Would at least be a good STer.
Alternatives: Bo Ruud, OLB, Nebraska (similar to Klinkenborg but less accomplished and less physically talented), Justin Tryon, CB, Arizona State (project with fair potential and big play ability)
Best Case Scenario NFL Comparison: Chad Brown

    UDFA's
Chauncey Washington, RB, USC - Average back right now but will get the job done when healthy. I've seen what he can do up close and personal. Ran 1000+ yards under a poor high school OL (we started a girl at LG for a few games) and ran me over in practice day after day. Good receiving skills and punishing runner with pretty good agility. Probably a better pro player than college player. Was really held back by his academic issues (coming from an academically strong high school, it was a shocker for me) and injuries. He's the type of grinding RB Parcells would like. Listed at 6'0 but I think he's shorter than that. I'm 6'1 and he still doesn't look 6'0. But he's a good guy (gave me free Rose Bowl tix though not too big a fan of $C).

Frank Morton, DT, Tulane - Big body and quality run stuffer. Can also get to the QB. Will get questions on level of competition but he's a good project.

Geoff Schwartz, OT, Oregon - Underrated OT prospect who really played a big role in run blocking. Could be a quality run-blocking RT in the future.

so with our 1st two picks we pick up someone who might not be a top 5 pick and a receiver. We need linemen. We need them bad. we need D backs and we need them very bad.

two offensive players to start out and neither is a lineman...I honestly don't see that happening.

You're right; it's bold. It's also erroneous. At least I hope so.
The primary reason we haven't been able to turn the corner no matter who we've had at skills positions is because we've never seriously addressed the O-line. And our D-line is inadequate.
So until/unless we take some major steps to improve those two units we're going to continue to wallow in mediocrity. Fortunately Parcells' does place a high priority on these.

Bold is one word you could use to describe that mock, but unlikely is the word I'd choose.

I find it hard to imagine a scenario where we don't address defensive front seven, tight end or offensive line on the first day of the draft. Ireland has already talked about wanting to be a big team. I think your mock falls much closer to Mueller's beliefs than the new regime's.

Really like alot of the players you have. I love how you added NFL comparisons and alternate selections. Too many to go through right now but I'll go over it tomorrow. Bruce Davis huh? He would be a nice pickup in the 4th. Great job overall and thanks for taking the time to really put some thought into it

True we need linemen and I did include Chris Long as a possible alternative in the first, Red Bryant in the 3rd, and Frank Okam in the 2nd. We do have a set of youngsters already on the roster in Moses, Soliai, and Roth. As for D-Backs, I did include Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie with our 2nd second rounder.

I believe it can. We have a lot of holes and could go BPA. The 1st rounder could go any way but I do believe we need a tall receiving option and there is a good crop of them to be had in the 2nd round.

I don't consider it erroneous. I think we can fix our OL through FA and really what our line needs is time together and some veteran leadership. All I see lacking is RT and that can be had throughout the draft. On the defensive side, we do need a NT but we already drafted Soliai and need some veteran help there as well.

I do believe I've included Martin Rucker on the 1st day and the DL in the later rounds. Ireland has talked about having a big team and nothing says big than a big WR, CB, TE, and QB on the first day. I don't think my mock falls closer to Mueller's beliefs though. Under my mock, we are going big, not speedy and small.

The 3rd round is no longer on the first day of the draft, I guess I should've clarified what I meant.

I'm quite sure when Bill and Jeff are talking about getting big, they're primarily talking about OL and defensive front seven. I think most believe that's where their draft focus will be.

At the top of the draft, linemen are the best players available. Dorsey, C. Long, Gholston.

Brohm isn't even the best QB in the draft, let alone the best player overall.

Again, I don't quite feel that a DT who may not fit in the big size mold that Parcells/Ireland want is worth the #1 overall pick. I like Long and I'm sure he's top 5 at least but his game reminds me of Matt Roth's and we already have a Matt Roth. But if we draft Long, I won't complain. I don't know if Gholston has declared yet and he will need to pack on some size for the 3-4 end spot.

I would consider Brohm slightly less than Matt Ryan but still a potential franchise QB in his own right. But again, I think he would be a good Parcells QB and a lot of people wanted him last year.

I thought we reached for a player last year? And even so, Ryan is better than Brohm and I don't even believe he's a top 5 prospect. It should come down to Chris Long, Glenn Dorsey and Gholston, if and only if he comes out. Quarterback , I say NO!

When I look at Brohm, I can't stop seeing shades of Carson Palmer. I really hoped we could've drafted him last year if he declared and still do. Depending on who's coaching, Ryan may or may not be better. If the coach can live with turnovers, then I'd go with Ryan. If the coach wants better control, then Brohm. I like Chris Long and should we go with defense, I wouldn't mind if we selected him.

I dunno, the only time he drafted #1 overall (and not traded away), he picked Drew Bledsoe. I just hope he can find a way to trade it away because other than Long and Gholston (if he declares), I don't see a defensive player worth the #1. A good crop in picks 4-15 though.

Dorsey is CLEARLY good enough to be #1. Ok, so hes not a massive huge body, but the guy is a player and a playmaker. Hes a disrupter, a force, a presence. He has to be accounted for at all times. He can rush the passer and stuff the run. The complete package. In case nobody watched any Phins games this season, or more likely just excised the season from memory, our DL was about as effective as air at stopping the run. And our pass rush wasnt all that great either. Dorsey can go a long way to fixing both issues. Having a DT who can be a pass rusher along with a run stuffer is invaluable. Suddenly your forced to devote extra men on the interior, freeing up the edge guys. Or devote double teams to Porter/JT and watch Dorsey explode into the backfield.

Gholston, imo, is not a top pick. Hes a very high pick, but not #1.

While I do appreciate you optimism regarding OL and FA, I'm not sure that I share it. The interior of our OL is what needs the most attention. In Fact Parcells' vision of OGs is much different than Cam's. Parcells seems to prefer heavier OGs while Cam likes smaller more agile ones. With that in mind, the price of OGs went through the roof last year with some of those FA signings (ie: Buffalo and Cincy).
I'm of the opinion that we will draft an OG with one of our 2nd rd picks.

Not really. Cameron likes linemen who have an explosive initial burst. This doesn't mean smaller/agile guys, it just means guys with the ability to make an initial knockback. This is why our 4th down conversion rate was so good this year.

I'm with you, I too was praying Brohm would have declared last year. He could have easily fallen to our position in the draft. Going into this draft I get the overall feeling that many are scouting Ryan as the top QB prospect to come out. If we are stuck with the #1 pick then we obviously have to go defense. C.Long or Dorsey are both great options and I would be happy with either, although I do prefer Long as well.

I wouldn't complain that much about that draft, but if you're willing to draft a guy that probably doesn't go top 5, you might as well trade down for next to nothing (like a 3rd round pick), just to get something and draft your guy anyway

Brohm isn't even the best QB in this draft let alone the best player. Its either Dorsey or Long, and the interior of our line is much more of a need and Dorsey is the better player, so what if the track record of DTs #1 isn't good? So if we got him at #2 he'd be great but since we pick him #1 hes going to suck? ya....

I agree that Parcells seems to prefer heavier OGs but I think he is concerned more whether they have strength and a good burst (I do too). And I do believe the interior linemen in FA can be a solution while we groom current youngsters. In fact even on our roster, Hadnot and Liwienski are 325. The guy I propose we take, Tevaga, is 330 according to the latest Den report, and is a huge reason we made those 3rd and short conversions and why no one could touch Raashan for the first 6 yards up the middle. I think he's 2nd round talent but is hidden because of his slight injury in the season (he returned in so-so form but will likely be 100% by TC) and our overall malaise in offense. In FA, you have a viable option in Floyd Womack, who's 328. And should Flozell Adams pull a Leonard Davis and move to guard, he can be an option too (or move Shelton to guard at least). Faneca, though only 310, plays bigger than his size and Cowboys do have Kosier, 305, on their starting lineup.

Dorsey may warrant double teams in college but I'm not so sure it'll translate in the pros. I don't doubt Dorsey's ability to rush the passer but I have questions on his ability to stuff the run at the pro level. A lot of times, he's been up against guards and centers in the 280-300 lb range. When confronted with OG's of 320 and up and C's of 310 and up, he's had issues such as against Arkansas when their RB's (not just McFadden) were having a great time rushing with 385 yards worth. As for Gholston, he's on the cusp pending his workouts

I think we finally agree on something.

If we do drop, I think the chances of drafting offense are higher. That said, I agree and I'm 70% sure we'll go defense and 30% sure about offense with the #1 pick. Parcells' last #1 pick was a QB and that's the only historical fact. Ryan will likely be the top QB but I believe Brohm isn't that far behind. Indeed, if Parcells considers Brohm as close to a spitting image of Bledsoe as possible, I wouldn't be surprised if he pulls the trigger.

Agreed, though with Brohm's better arm, I don't think the ceiling is that much higher. But then it's like comparing Carson Palmer with Tom Brady.
