agreed - we played like the team we really are. Mediocre - Ravens offense was bad- but you cant give them 6 turnovers and expect to win anything.
Ehh..from 1-15 to 11-5...with the same guys....we have upgrades to make, and some PhinFans will have their feelings hurt...
are offense was bad? we were just trying to run the clock out. Werent trying to score, if you knew anything about the Ravens you would know they do that every year, they go up by a small margin and they run, run, run, punt (unless they get first down)
you are right, Dolphins have made great changes and have improved dramatically from last year, I just am tried of hearing Phin fans giving the Ravens so much crap.
I think a lot of the blame has to go on Chad Pennington. You can't stare down a receiver near Ed Reed and not expect a turnover. He threw a ball in double coverage to Fabian Washington and then floated a pass straight to Ed Reed, roughly 3 to 5 yards away from the intended receiver, Ginn. I can't take any credit away from the Ravens defense though, stout against the run and they did a good job in the pass defense. I felt that Henning should have stayed with the underneath game, to Martin and Cobbs. We saw our two best drives with the underneath game and everything else was trying to beat the Ravens in the 12-18 yard range which didn't work out. The Ravens defense did play good as I said before but I think they have to have some worries of their own. They allowed a lot of passes in the flats and had trouble recognizing various formations. I can't help but think that Tennessee will utilize Chris Johnson in the pass game, getting him in the flats and in space to make defenders miss. The Ravens will have to stay disciplined like they usually are and wrap up when tackling. I'm not sure who will win because I think that Kerry Collins could fall apart when blitzed and pressure is applied but the same can go for Flacco. Should be a good game. Congrats to the Ravens moving on and congrats to the Dolphins for a great season.
What did you expect on a Phins board the day of a Playoff game? Your defense won the game. Plain and simple.
Ravens defense is just ridiculous... I think our O-Line really hurt us this game. All that being said, if Ginn handles that reverse, this entire game is different. That ended it. If he doesnt fumble that handoff, he scores a TD and we are within 4 or 3 with 6 minutes left...
Well all I am saying is that Phin fans are making excuses that dont make any sense, if they made some logical sense I would be okay with that. In the end it was a fun game to watch, GL next year (just keep beating the Pats for me )
It is the O lines fault and not Pennington or Ginn's the pressure was to much for the Oline to block and he didnt have enough time to get the hand off. I am not sure if that was going to be a TD run thou.
at least this year I get to watch the rest of the season not worried about the pats or the jets advancing
have you read the message boards? I have seen tons of posts saying how bad the Ravens our and how the refs won the game for us.... the better team won and that all there is to it
Bro I am going to tell you one more time. We don't care about what other sites have done, we are not like that here. Congrats on the Game!
What? how bad the Ravens our? Huh? The refs won the game for you? all what 18 points? I dont think anyone is saying this. The better team won? well, maybe today. I'd find it amazing if Ravens couldnt win with 3 free ints from Pennington.
We overachived a little bit, but won the AFC East, and put the Jests and Pasties out of the playoffs.....it was extremely successful. ! Ireland (with or without Parcells) will get this team stronger, faster and better with off-season upgrades that will blow our socks off, and a draft that will makes us jump for joy.
Dont make sense? Look at the stats from the game... The ravens offense didn't do much at all in this game. Aside from the 31 yard pass to mason, and the big run for mcgahee... our D basically kept them in check. It was penningtons 4 INT's, 1 of which was returned for a TD, and our lost fumble that gave baltimore the great field position for easy points. Without those 5 turnovers, this would have been a completely different game IMO
Agreed on Pennington, he turned into the QB the Jets remembered today, he was not good, but one thing I just don't get is why we were trying to go deep so often. The way you beat that Raven team is with screens, TE over the middle and short quick passes, which just happens to be Pennington's strength. The Play calling was suspect. But man, Flacco had all day to throw the ball.
i agree ultimately our defense won the game because of field position but u dont really understand how our offense works. Our defense is aggressive and excellent therefore our offense and can be consistent and pound it little by little and wear the defense down. thats why we have a 260 pound running back. our offense didnt play terrible. they did what was expected. personally i wished they could have played better and scored a bunch of points but ur defense played a lot better this time. a lot better. good game good season congrats to your guys
That was my issue as well. The two drives that amounted to something, we went to the flats with Martin and Cobbs. And then we went on some weird playcall run. It was weird to say the least. Yeah, 4 man rush and got nothing out of it. Porter was non-existent yet again because teams are focusing in on him and the problem I have is that we have teams focusing on our top sack guy but the other guys can't make anything out of that. They don't feed off the attention given to Porter. We need a pass rushing OLB on this team, a consistent one. Matt Roth has been beautiful at setting the edge but he's no pass rusher.
Pennington was terrible today he locked on to his receiver too often and forced the ball all game long. The defense was very good.
No reason to hang our heads This team has done so great this year. It was too early in our development to expect to even be in the playoffs. We continue to build from here. Biggest accomplishments of the year: We rid this team of the cancer of losing that started to grow the moment Jimmy Johnson was hired as our HC. We learned out to win CLOSE games...normally we would have folded. We got rid of players that weren't going to buy into our new schemes. We actually laid the ground work by doing a ton of work on both lines. We have a leader under center. We have young talent that will develop. The players believe in one another and their leadership. We have leadership now, havn't in a long time. We turned this ship around. Now lets hope that Parcells doesn't bolt for the door as I was afraid he would when first hired so we can keep this going. We need continuity. Our new owner can blow this and ****** the growth of this team. This guy was a part of the ownership group that ran the NY Islanders into the ground in the 90s. I don't trust a real estate guy from Florida. Lets hope for the best.
With all due respect, if Chad Pennington doesn't throw 4 interceptions, this game is different. You can't just pinpoint that one play. We threw 2 interceptions in the red zone and you say "Well if Ginn doesn't fumble that handoff..." Our offense just didn't come out to play, makes me wonder if we should have given the ball to Polite on the 4th and goal in the first quarter. I wanted to do so myself, but I didn't think we would take a chance.
Allerman was the worst player on the field, I don't think he touched a Raven all day, even Long was yelling at him.
I replied to one of your posts in another thread about this but yeah he was awful all day. He was getting owned on a consistent basis. Thankfully he won;t be starting next season, might not even be on the team. He wasn't nearly as bad as Alleman.
Great point. sure is hard for pennington to make the right read when he has D-linemen breathing down his neck every play. jake is the only guy who stood his ground all day!!! i'm not saying Penningtons not at fault, but there are many factors why he threw some of those picks!!!
I think we were out played today. The D played a very good game even with a weak pass rush. JP needs a little help to get some of the double teams away from him. Chad made some bad plays but also made some very good ones. Ginn is still a BIG disappointment to me...he seems to be directly involved in way to many bad plays for a first round pick. Patrick Cobb need to be a bigger part of our O IMO But we made some major steps, kept the Pats out of the playoffs As a team we need some more work but it was a exciting season like no one expected. I am proud of the way we played all year.
You should be. Miami's D played much better than I expected today. I really didn't think they'd be able to take away the pass like they did... Good game guys!
Yeah, I can't believe he tried to throw it deep against that defense with his arm strength. The strength of our recievers is their ability to get YAC's. He should have just stuck with the short stuff. Posted via Mobile Device
GO PHINS! We'll get 'em next year. I had high hopes but low expectations today. Saw our OL get rolled WAY too often and saw Penny get caught in some bad decisions (which he has seemed to be making more of as the season went on) but it was a HIGHLY successful season. Way to go boys!
Yes, your offense is bad... And you were trying to score - Flacco said it at the end of the game interview - He said"we were trying to hit these guys over the head with a final score" Your defense was good, but Penny won this game for you. The ravens offense put up 6 points until that last drive - And had 6 yrds of offense till 9 min left in the 4th. I understand how NFL offenses work and yours is awful. Congrats on the game - but the Ravens didnt win it - The Dolphins lost it.
I have to agree, you just can't turn the ball over 5 times, letting them score once... and win ball games. It just doesn't work out very often... I mean, some people are telling me "Why are you upset, at least they made the playoffs." However, I just can't get in that mood because I know what this team is capable of. When our offense plays their game and our defense played like it did today, for the most part, we are a very, very tough team to beat. Oh well, I guess I'll be a Chargers and Cardinals fan during the playoffs. I'd like to see LT get his ring, he's a very good guy and definitely deserves it. I'd also love to see former Dolphin, Chris Chambers, get a ring as well. I have to cheer on former Northern Iowa quarterback Kurt Warner as well. Who is, IMO, quite possibly the nicest guy in the NFL.
Definitely a horrible game from pennington, and the OL too. Our defense was much better, but some pressure on Flacco would have been nice. Bottom line: we have a ways to go on both sides of the ball (& special teams too).
we desperately need linebackers who can play the pass as well as get pressure.. DL who can get pressure.. I was satisfied overall with this defense against the run, but our front 7 cant cover the pass for **** (ILB's, OLB's).. We always seem to miss crucial tackles for nig gains and give up huge 3rd downs. Our defense needs alot of work.
I thought we should have as well. The Ravens O hasnt been a ball of fire this year. If we fail, bring the heat and make the rookie QB beat us from the endzone. If we win, we are up 7 big points and get some confidence going.
