When you have a 3rd down runningback playing receiver instead of you, you know your time is done. I just don't understand what happened with him. How can you think so highly of the guy to sign him to a big contract and then not even activate him considering the state of the WR corps? Does anyone know what makes him so bad?? Or are there other issues that we may not know about?
He's not a very good player and he's been average at best IMO. He's too slow (4.7 forty), he has o.k. hands at best, despite his size he doesn't use his body to haul in passes and he needs to be in the slot IMO. He's a possession receiver who feeds off others attention. He's no red zone target either, despite his stature. He's just not very good. I am not sure what they saw in him but that was a free agency mistake.
We had three active receivers today, it says a lot when they trust their running backs and tight ends over you. He won't be here next season, that's for sure.
He wasn't the reason today since he didn't play, but one guy should be cut after today. A street cone would have been better than Allerman, he didn't block a guy all day. I even so Jake Long yelling at him after one sack!
I hope he's gone as soon as we have the ability to let him go. Knowing the FO here... Im hoping, and assuming that the paperwork is already done and were just waiting for the day we can drop this load of free agent trash.
I think we'll take the cap hit and let him go. When? I have no idea. We haven't really used him all year. Why keep him around and pretend like we're going to next year?
That to me, was priceless. Being a Michigan fan I saw Jake do ALOT of that in his time there. He was a leader on that team, now that his rookie year is over, i think we're going to see alot more of that out of Jake. He's going to start taking a leadership type role along that line once we start up again next year IMO
Alleman was constantly getting owned today. Thankfully we likely won't have to see him play next season.
Do they? I don't think so. I think free agency starts after the Pro Bowl, but you can cut someone at any time, can't you?
Oh yes, I was actually surprised of Alleman's game after Smiley went down. Thought for sure LG would suck but the guy stood up to the challenge, not today though, the guy meltdown so bad.
So who do we get in FA? Im on the Antonio Bryant bandwagon unless we can swing a decent trade for Boldin
Decent cheap vet, but I see him in the same role Bess is taking over. We need a clear cut numero uno imo.
I'm almost positive they have to wait until after the Pro Bowl. I remember in past years teams releasing players a few days to a week after the Pro Bowl.

They shoud, TJ would be worth it IMO. But drafting might work too. Hakeem Nicks would be a good choice
Dude I don't think it will stop with the OLine. I believe Jake will have the respect of the whole team. He just gives off that kind of aura !
TJ is going to be 30 right? I'd rather not sign him. I think we need to focus on our getting younger, bigger, and stronger. No doubt BP will load up on defense during the draft. I would love Oakland's star CB though... I can pronounce his name, just not spell it, so I'll save myself from embarrassment.
He's actually 31 right now I agree then, it wouldn't be worth the money to sign him, I didn't know he was that old. Nnamdi Asomugha I would love it if the Dolphins signed him away from the AFC West
What's the hurry to cut Wilford? Think about it for a minute. Unless this team needs the cap room, which it most likely doesn't, why not let the guy compete? If he continues to suck, you cut him. Perhaps some light goes off and he returns back to being a decent receiver. Not that I would bet on it, but I don't see any reason to be hasty about it.
For the money he is getting paid, I for one hope that he is gone. His contribution has been putrid and he should be paying the team for locker space.
What a waste of space that guy was/is. He should have been cut weeks ago. But I guess his contract has the FO kind of handcuffed. I'm not sure how long his contract is for, but i bet the FO is waiting so his release will be a bit more cap- friendly.
Wilford should return all his pay beyond legue minimum is what he should do. Only in the fantasy world of pro sports can someone that adds zero value to an organization end up being paid millions.
